Good afternoon, all! It's been a beautiful day - a little chilly but still in the low 50s; no wind to speak of and lots of sunshine. Sweetie & I went out & looked at those 2 vacant houses that reportedly have broken windows. They each has a broken window, but they're both real jagged. The one isn't a big enough hole for anyone to climb into. The other, I don't think anyone could go through it without getting pretty cut up. We went to Wal-Mart after that for some eggs - they had jumbo size that we like for breakfast. I also picked up a few items to put in our company donation box for the local food bank. We were out getting enough exercise from all that ^^^ to both be tired now. The dishwasher is running & the dryer will be running in a minute. I want to wash a nice quilt the dogs sleep on here in the office. I want them to have fresh bedding since we'll likely be staying indoors a lot from about mid-week until after Christmas due to the weather. Happy to hear you're back to the land of the communications-enabled, Jeanette. Are your DD#1 & her DH planning to run a landline in to their new home, or are they ham radio people? I had an aunt & uncle who lived off the grid even back in the 1970s till the early 1990s. They were pretty well adapted, and I liked visiting in the summer, but I'm not sure I'd have been to keen on living that way in the winter. Hope your day has been a good one too, Mel.

Barb The only power up there is either solar or using a generator. They do now have a flip type of phone for use with a signal, as needed even a little texting ~ if I remember correctly ~ lol Grouphug

‘Morning Everyone~
24 degrees outside here at 7:30 am. DH’s truck is outside & he’ll need to warm it up before leaving shortly. There’s furniture & camping stuff in the garage right now.
We both slept good last night.

Good morning. Pleasant, late-fall morning here. Brutal cold is forecast to set in on Wednesday night. Thursday high expected to be 11°, w/windchill as low as -18.
We're @the vet's office & Milo is getting an x-ray to see if he has a bowel blockage. He was one sick pup overnight.

Thanks for your prayers, Mel and Jeanette! Milo's x-ray showed 'some sort' of blockage. Vet said he was "full of soft poop!" She said that was exciting because it showed he hadn't been having a problem for long, and that might 'might' at least show the problem could be resolved without surgery. She was hoping he'd walk right of the office & 'go' in the yard out front, where they had a 'bag & drop' station set up. He did exactly that & I picked it up & dropped it in the container. We praised him like crazy. When we got home, he went again and then chowed down on breakfast & has kept it down so far. The vet called a few minutes ago to say they'd sent his x-ray to a radiologist who reported back that the blockage appears to be bony material, not round plastic as the vet had guessed. We're all thinking now that he caught a field mouse out back in the yucca patch. <-- Milo had stood looking for me to come out back this morning, he wanted to show me what he'd found in the yucca patch. It's a hole the size of baseball. I dug around & found nothing in the hole, but I suspected he might have caught a fat field mouse in there sometime late last evening. Edward is going to put a concrete block in front of that hole this afternoon so Milo can't get to it. I tell you, if it's not one thing, it's another. I'm heading to the office ... wanted to go in a couple hours early this morning as I'm not planning to be there on Thursday if the weather is as brutal as predicted. I really wanted to get as much done between today & about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon when I'm heading off to keep an appointment for a mammogram. Happy I was able to get that appt, healthcare not appearing to be as good as it was even a year ago. So, see y'all later! Hope everyone has a great Monday afternoon!

We're so happy that big lug of a dog is doing better. He hasn't had any more problems; starts on meds this evening. The vet gave him amoxicillin for a GI-system infection, and something else for stomach acid. He has a re-check next Monday. With all the work we have to do this week, our office's new printer/scanner came today, accompanied by 2 guys who really didn't know how to set it up, let alone train the other partner's assistant. I'm going to work early in the morning, see if I can get some of this work completed. We need to have about a dozen properties winterized so the pipes won't freeze. I'm not exactly sure who we're going to hire to do that. I have to make sure I have enough keys to get into the places - will probably need to have some made. And then I can get someone to get started on it. just an aside ... when the holidays are over, Mel, I'll tell you how hard I played the 'fainting goats game' some days. I'm getting a big kick out of that meme. (it's your guess whether I've been a fainting goat, or an offender)
