‘Morning Everyone
Temp here at 6:35 am is 39 degrees ~ Heat even came on about 6 am ~ It’s set at 60 degrees.
‘Hope to contact the social security office ~ Game plan today: cook chili to take to DD#1’s mtn property ~ ‘DH will be helping SIL #1 bring in some furniture here, maybe help him with a dump run, then load up their trailer with stuff to be moved to a storage unit close to their mtn property. They’re clearing out their house to sell & move closer to the mtn property in VA.
We’ll head to the mtn property, also, overnight or two ~ the bears should be in hibernation now ~ ‘Gonna set up the tent within a larger tent & I’ll take my portable potty chair with legs & handles lol
It’ll be really really cold there & no internet
:-X

Good morning! It's up to 38 now, with a windchill of 29. It's not going to be much warmer this afternoon. The leaves finally came off the trees with that high wind we had the other night. Our front yard is full of cottonwood leaves. Sunday afternoon is forecast to be in the low 50s so I 'might' get out the rake and see if I can collect up some of those leaves. Glad to hear your neighborhood has faired well with the weather, Mel. Nita & her daughter are taking the grands to Okla City for a jiu jitsu (sp) tournament this weekend. They're probably leaving about now. She texted me to say we need to start winterizing vacant properties. I'll work on the list & setting that up this afternoon. It is that time of year! I have a dentist appt just before lunch so I'm doing some laundry at home right now, washing some light blankets. Hope you get a good person on the phone at Social Security, Jeanette. I think they've become more bureaucratic than they've ever been before. They sent me an email last week to say they are not sending out statements this year to people who are signed up to check their accounts on-line. They encouraged me to sign in at my leisure and check out my statement - what they've paid this year & what they'll pay with this new raise. Yes, it saves them $$ on postage but it wouldn't have been my choice if I'd been asked. Well, I'd better decide what we're having for dinner this afternoon and get ready to head out. Hope everyone has a great Friday! Last Friday of Autumn 2022. - And the sun just burst through the clouds here, whoo hoo!

He's a good looking young troop, Mel! Completing basic combat training is a big deal. Where was this (what post - Ft. Benning, maybe)? I'm glad his mom was able to go - family support is really important to a soldier's success. Do you know where he's going for his AIT (Advanced Individual Training - the part where a person learns the specifics of their military occupational specialty)? I wish him all the best and hope he enjoys it! This was a great day - trip to the dentist left my teeth feeling terrific. We had a 2-man construction crew show up to look at some empty houses & take pictures. They're really nice young guys. We got along great, in spite of the fact that their English wasn't too fluent, and my Spanish isn't either. Besides that, I put together the list of vacant properties so we can get them winterized next week. Really have a lot planned this weekend, but I'm going over to 2 of the properties that I didn't see today & check out the broken windows the construction guys reported. I hope you all have a great evening!

Another of my cousins who has been really into karate for the last few years earned her black belt last evening.
She is the younger sister of the boy who is in the Army.

Good morning! At 9 a.m., it's 36 with a windchill of 33. At 7 a.m., it was 29 with a windchill of 25. The sun is shining brightly but it's just too far away to bring much heat. I have to get out & check on 2 of the houses the crew looked at yesterday. There might be a problem with squatters breaking in. Edward's going with me and we're not going into anything that could be confrontational. Besides that, I have to do some grocery shopping ... and then I'm going to watch college football. It's bowl time. Our newspaper published the complete schedule on Thursday. There are 42 bowls this year (I'm sure I'll only watch a handful over the next 2 weeks). Stay warm & safe, whatever the weather is in your locale.

Congratulations to your cousin who obtained her black belt! That's really impressive! What does one do after they've reached the black belt level? I've never known anyone who reached that level. ____________________________________ Just answered a call from a woman who wanted to know if we had any 1-bedroom apartments available? Yes, I'm sure we do, but our office is closed on the weekends so she should call on Monday. She brokedown at that point - not outright sobbing, but close. I asked her if she was ok? She said yes, but the obvious answer was no. She told me to have a good day & hung up. <--Sounds like a domestic in progress & she should have probably called the police, not a property management company.

There are higher degrees of black belt. She is now a level one black belt working toward level two. In the style that she is training in, there are ten degrees all together.

I love that goat meme. I'm stealing that one. Mel, I found that little goat right after you posted about those fainting goats your Aunt recently added to her household and I just had to keep a copy. Little goats are sooo cute! That's neat to know that there are levels within the black belt. It's really not that pleasant outside this morning. It's downright cold. I've been out with the dogs three times now. They want to be out - and they invite me to go along. I know this started waayyy back with previous dogs - Houston D Hound Dog, I think - and they taught each successive addition to the pack that it's more fun if mommy comes along. Milo actually pouts and gives me sad faces if I don't want to go along. Yeh, I usually give in & go along.

Grocery shopping felt like a big chore this afternoon. The commissary was packed. I think we were all doing the same thing: stocking & re-stocking our cupboards, refrigerators, & freezers before winter starts. After all, we keep being told by weather people that this one is gonna be a doozy! Whatever that might mean. I'm trying some new recipes so tonight we had Apple-Turkey Cutlets. I sliced 3 fuji apples, then sauteed them with a half-stick of butter. When they started to get soft, I pushed them aside & cooked 4 seasoned turkey cutlets in the same skillet. When they were done through (only takes a few minutes), I covered them with the apple slices and sprinkled on a little brown sugar. Oh, my goodness were they delicious. I baked a pan of frozen seasoned brussels sprouts & sliced carrots to go along with the cutlets. It all went together well. College bowl games were interesting today. I watched some of the Rice vs Southern Miss game; and caught most of the N. Texas vs Boise St game. Rice played a really aggressive game, but Southern Miss won in the end, as predicted. N Texas was expected to win but Boise St pulled it out late in the 4th quarter and beat them by 3 points. Anyway, I'm heading to bed - it's wayyy late!
