I'm going to visit my Aunt and Uncle and some of my cousins on my Dad's side of the family this afternoon for a combination late Thanksgiving and early Christmas get together. This will be the first time that we have all gotten together in person since before the start of the scamdemic. Hope you have a great time, Mel! We all met for lunch at a local family restaurant and then went to my Aunt and Uncles house to play games and let the younger cousins open their Christmas gifts.

Army Beats Navy 20 -17 in 2nd OT
December 2022
The 2 overtime periods were the best part of the game ... Play had been pretty lackadaisical on both sides prior to that! This is the first time the game has ever gone into overtime in all of the 100+ years this annual contest has been held.
As for shopping, Wal-Mart was packed. I found a suitable coffeemaker. Also looked for a new collar for Milo Man but didn't find anything we both liked. I was texting photos of the dog collars to Edward and we were on the phone discussing them.
Also found a box of Christmas cards that are suitable.
The temperature has really dropped! But still no rain. Yay!
Hope everyone is having a great Saturday evening!

Good morning! It's 44 here and feels soupy-wet, both breathing & walking, under a heavily overcast sky. Not sure what sort of weather day we'll have in these parts.

I'd like to propose an ordinance for vocal musicians in every genre: singing anything other than a dirge at a dragging, sad speed will cause their instant removal from the venue. Who's with me in promoting that? Hymns, Christmas carols - religious & secular both, are being sung at such slow speeds I can't stand to sing along. How did that ever get started? Edward's over here laughing, but he agrees.

Give em the old Vaudeville Cane: I luv it! You just know I had to add that old Vaudeville Cane to my collection. The temperature hasn't changed a degree since 7:30 this morning, but it feels like it's gotten colder. Milo has run in & out. When he comes back in, he stops by to nudge me for some attention. I pet him, of course. He almost feels wet, and his fur is soooo cold. I told him this last time that he oughta go lay in the warmest spot he can find and take a nap. Maybe he'll get around to it. That's what Leela & Fran are doing. Hope your day is going well, Jeanette.

It is staying both cool enough and damp enough that I am doing something that I hardly ever do: I'm wearing a sweater indoors.
One of the highlights of our family get together yesterday was that my Aunt recently got a pair of Fainting Goats as pets. Those goofy goats and their antics were a real hit with all of us but especially the younger cousins.

Hopefully plenty of pictures and maybe some videos were made of the younger cousins being amused by those goats. Friends of ours had a pair of them years back. Those little goats entertained their grands for months. We got a kick out of watching the kids. The church service was good this morning. Dr. Jeffress preached on the 5 major characters you find in the nativity scene. His overarching point was for each of us ask ourselves the questions to discover in our own lives how available are we - really - for God to use us. He gave us the brief overview of each major character - in what ways they were available, and what that meant. Edward was reading about mangers yesterday - on fb - and I can't find the article he read, but I found one that was equally fascinating. I'll post it in Christian Chat afterwhile. I've got to get the dishes loaded & then put away some clean laundry. I'm wearing a sweater too, Mel ... and if I don't warm up before long, I may put a sweatshirt on over my t-shirt. I don't typically layer clothing when I'm working around the house, but I don't want to turn up the furnace.

I’ve picked up squishmallows and while we had DD#2’s kiddos last weekend, 13 yr old got two & 10 yr old got one plus a different hot wheel & some trek (?) finger skate board stuff he picked out . No wrappings either lol I had the squishmallows in two large cloth “bags” DD#4 had made & given a few years ago. So grands could pick which squishmallows they wanted. When I first read your post yesterday morning, I had to wonder "What is a squishmallow? I don't think that I had ever heard of them before, but then I went to my family gathering yesterday afternoon and my cousin's two little girls were all excited because their aunt had promised to get them each a new squishmallow for Christmas. Evidently, between the two of them, the girls have over a dozen different squishmallows including 3 of "the big ones", but they still want more.

Amazon deliveryman vs Santa Claus What a matchup! We have a dense fog advisory from 9 p.m. tonight to 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. Edited to add: I'd never heard of squishmallows before Jeanette mentioned them. I googled them. I think 2 of the grands must not be interested - probably too old, & the youngest would probably rather have Hot Wheels so he's never mentioned them either. Just looking online, I can't see the attraction, but heh, that's just me. I don't really know what kids are interested in these days.

It seems that at some point during our family gathering yesterday afternoon I must have dozed off for a little while. One of my cousins sent me a photo of myself asleep in a chair in our Aunt's living room.
