Well, being warm by the fire, having a full tummy ... yeh, I can see falling asleep! I'm heading to bed as soon as I post this. I couldn't resist going back to fb to get it before I couldn't remember how to find it. (meme removed by poster)

‘Morning Everyone Temp here at almost 8:30am is 44 degrees
I got to 9 yr old grandsons 1st rookie (beginners up to doing it for two years) wrestling matches yesterday. He held his own, when going against similar weight category & experience.
The first time he was on the mat for an exhibition round, he was matched up with someone ten pounds heavier than him, and probably at the almost cut off of two yrs. That kid pounded him beyond grandsons ~ less than a month of training ~ could handle :-X
My friend from out of town came with me. She is similar to my DH’s personality, cheering & encouraging.

That taco meme last night has inspired me to do tacos for lunch today (I actually dreamed about eating tacos dipped in cheese last night ), but sadly I don't have a nacho cheese fountain in real life to dip them in.

Good morning! It's chilly & wet outside, but the fog is lifting so it may be a little more pleasant by lunchtime. We'll see! There are at least 4 pair of cardinals in our trees in the frontyard this morning. They're beautiful! The one upside-down tree has a half dozen slate juncos in it and they're singing like a choir! Jeanette, that's pitiful that your grandson was pitted against someone at the top end of his class instead of more equally paired. Wrestling has become a bigger sport around here than it used to be in all of the schools. What boggles my mind is the rise of girls wrestling. When did that even become acceptable?!? I have a friend whose teen daughter is all in when it comes to wrestling. She's competing & going to training. Her mother thinks this is wonderful. I smile politely and keep my mouth shut. I was just happy our boys were not into wrestling because I'm no more a wrestler mom than I was a soccer mom. That's funny, Mel. Nacho cheese fountain shouldn't be any harder to clean up than a chocolate fountain. <-- I'm surprised nobody is doing this, is the point. Hope you enjoy your tacos for lunch. Have you tried the carb-balanced tortillas? Well, I'm working on cards to mail out ... not sending many, but they'll all be in the mail by tomorrow, at least. Hope y'all have a great Monday!

They're high in fiber, so - if you count net carbs like I do - they're a great way to keep your carb count down. Around here, it's pretty easy to get Mission brand, as well as La Banderita. Aldi's has a different brand but I can't remember the name. They come in white flour or whole wheat, and occasionally you can find spinach (they're pale green) or a sun-dried tomato (they look like whole wheat with a reddish tone & some kind of dark seeds). I haven't been brave enough to try the tomato type, the couple of times I've seen them. They also come in a variety of sizes: really small (billed as 'street taco size'), small, medium, a little bigger, and large (10", I think). We used the 10" for toasterdillas, but had a tough time using up a pack of them before they dried out. They can be a little price-y but I think they're worth it. I eat more of them than I eat bread, these days. Goal: not eating things that will spike my blood sugar.

I'm tired this evening. It has been foggy, with a heavy light rain all day. Nita & I went out in the rain to look at 3 houses late this afternoon. The concrete, & leaves on the concrete, were all slick as ice. I didn't fall, but I wrenched my 'bad' knee and twisted my back. I could hardly get up & down 2-3 steps to get onto porches to go into houses. I was so happy to be able to walk to my vehicle - a few parking spaces away from the front of our building - and drive home a little after five this afternoon. I'm about to slather on some pain relieving gel (not Ben-Gay) with hope it will help overnight. Speaking of overnight, you wouldn't believe the forecast we have. Around 1 a.m., the temperature here is supposed to rise into the low 60s, and severe weather is expected between 1 a.m. and end by 5 a.m. Tornado threat is low, but wind gusts of 60-80 mph are expected. Winds like that can bring a lot of damage. Prayers for Oklahoma, as this storm system passes across us, are appreciated, believe me. Hope to see y'all in the morning - after 5 a.m. - with news that this storm was not nearly so bad as forecast. I love y'all!

Good morning! It is 21 degrees here this morning. I have a few errands that I need to run, but I just don't feel like going out in this cold wind. Maybe later.

Barb: Girls wrestle right along with boys through high school, I learned … Thankful you were able to get home without incident yesterday & praying you were aok through that predicted storm during the night
Mel: your nieces & their goats are cute
DH will be traveling next week re his consulting with former employer. Difference is we pay up front for everything & get reimbursed after he submits paperwork. Airfare, rental car, hotel & etc. I’m processing the upcoming trip & out of pocket initial expenses.
They wanted him to go this week, but I told him no. I made commitments for Friday re helping DD#1 & SIL moving furniture & going to their mtn property.
Our friends are here, also. I’m hoping they stay until tomorrow & we spend time doing activities today.
Yesterday, we went to a place for lunch & walked around a mall near there. Last evening, we went to see Christmas lights at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Good morning! It's 52 at 9 a.m.; forecast to reach 60 this afternoon. The sun is shining brilliantly. The storms that hit us didn't arrive till 3 a.m. and only lasted about 15 min. The lightning really scared Franny - she woke me up, but since the storm moved through so fast, she wasn't upset for long. She went to sleep & slept next to me till 5 a.m., which is pretty unusual for her. After the storms moved through, then the wind raged for maybe 20-30 minutes at about 50 mph. I am sooo thankful the storms & wind were not as bad as forecast! This may be our warmest day for awhile so I have a smile on my face & I'm in a pretty good mood. My left leg is not in good shape today - I don't know what the cause is. I'm having trouble walking so am using one of Edward's canes to steady myself. He's going to take me to work in a little bit & then pick me up this afternoon & help me get to small claims court. We have 3 cases today, and I need to turn in a sheriff's execution form to have a previously evicted gal locked out - she did't pay as agreed and she didn't move out after we got the judgment. After that, I think I may go get this knee & thigh x-rayed. Hope you have a great visit with your friends, Jeanette. Is DD#1's mountain retreat ready to move into? It sounds neat, but I'd have to have a paved road to it or I sure couldn't live there. That's been my 'line in the sand' for over 30 yrs - I've told Edward I'll move any place he really wants to go, but it has to have paved road access. Stay safe if you do go out today, Mel! The weather looks like it's going to be bitterly cold all across the country by early next week. Hope y'all have a great day!

The weather looks like it's going to be bitterly cold all across the country by early next week. I did what I needed to do, and now I plan to stay in the house the rest of the day other than to set the trash out on the curb this evening. The temperature here this afternoon is still only 35.
