It is a few days early, but with the cooler weather that we have been having lately, I thought that I would get the new Autumn chat thread started.

Good morning, Mel! Good morning, Jeanette! This is a great new fall hangout - thanks, Mel! At 9 a.m. this morning it's 72 degrees with 57% humidity. There's a light breeze out of the SE. The breeze is a little cool, but not significant. The high today is forecast to be in the low 90s. ...We're expected to stay in the mid-to-high 90s for the next 10 days, at least. Praying agreement for all needs and concerns of anyone who comes by here today.

I had to go back to the last chat thread & save a copy of that dog in the pool - he looks so happy! Later: Edward had an appt at the cancer center this morning and I went along. He's put on a little weight, which shocked him, and he admitted to the doc that he's back is bothering him. He & the doc agreed he needs to be out walking Milo Man twice a day, now that it's cooling off. The great thing is, his platelet count looks terrific. The doc sounded surprised and very pleased. Edward's blood pressure was also the best I've ever seen it when he was sitting in a doctor's office. So, he doesn't have to go back for 6 months. Just fyi, Mel - I was a big Roy Rogers/Dale Evans fan as a child. Their show was something I rarely missed. I was sure that was Trigger when I first looked, but I wasn't able to post for awhile because I was at work. Speaking of work, I have to head that way in a few minutes. Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Someone on a Bible Prophecy themed Facebook group that I belong to presented a theory that I found interesting. I'm not saying that I necessarily agree with this idea, but I thought that it was an interesting possibility. Put simply: Maybe the reason that the Bible's End Time prophecies show all of the army's riding on horseback in the final battles is because there will have been so much devestation to the World's infastructure that there won't be any electricity to power any of the electric vehicles that will have replaced most of the gas powered vehicles by then.

Happy Friday! It's a warm 74 degrees at 9 a.m. There's a slight breeze, which is really nice. Supposed to reach the mid-90s this afternoon. Edward is meeting a fence builder at 10 a.m. I really hope they reach a great deal for new privacy fencing around around at least a portion of our backyard. We're having a sewer line issue this morning - appears to be a city problem. Edward has already called them & they're supposed to send out a crew to check on it. The sewer on our half of the street runs along a green belt and it's in bad shape. But at least the city can get to it pretty easily. They know it's in bad shape - it's just there are miles of sewer line ahead of this one in worse shape, so no telling when they'll dig this portion up & replace it. Talk about infrastructure problems! This theory made me chuckle. There are probably people also who would suggest that horses were included here because the Bible was written long before there was any machinery, so no tanks or planes came to mind. I think this was written as it will happen, but that's just my opinion. Whatever is actual, we'll find out one day. On my way to work as soon as I post this, and brush my teeth.

The man is here at my home today to make repairs on the fence that runs across the back of my yard. The metal link fence itself is in good shape, but several of the wooden posts that it is attached to have rotted off at ground level over the years. I am getting them replaced with metal posts that should hold up far longer than what I am likely to need them. I also got a letter today from my Compassion sponsor child Julia. She is 18 now. The school year there is ending, and she is starting vocational training to work in the hospitality and tourism industries.

It's hot this afternoon, but I haven't seen a temperature ... need to see where I laid down my cell phone before something happens to it. I cooked breakfast this morning. Scrambled eggs with colby jack cheese melted over the top, and (tried a new recipe) sauteed mushroom-onion skillet potatoes. Lots of hot coffee, of course. Yuban is appearing in the commissary. It's the best price/ounce so I bought a container of it. It's pretty tasty. The Sooners (Okla U) are playing the Huskers (Nebraska). At the start of the 3rd quarter, OU is winning: 35 to 7. Hope y'all have a great Saturday afternoon! Oh, yes, the vet said Lil Leela's leg is healed up so she could take the cone off her head. She seems to be missing it - she really seemed to like bulldozing around the house with the cone on her head!

I'm glad to hear that got a good report from the vet. The man came this afternoon to finish the repairs on my back fence. Yesterday, he took the fence down and put the new metal posts in place and poured concrete into the holes to keep them in place. The old wooden posts which were already here when we bought the place in 2002 had just been stuck into the ground with no foundation and were almost completely rotten. Today, he reattached the fence to the new posts now that the concrete had time to set up. Also, the neighbor across the street came over and mowed my yard for me. Hopefully it won't need more than one or two more mowings for this year. Not many of the trees around here have started changing to Fall colors yet, but it should be happening any day now.

It's 95 at present, and we're not 'quite' to the hottest part of the day. Humidity is pretty low at 39%, so not bad outside. Final score in the OU-Nebraska game was 49-14. I didn't really expect OU to run away with the game like that. <--I'm a solid Sooner fan, but I hate to see any school run away with any game. Okla State plays at 6 p.m. but I'm not sure it's being televised around here. Well, it's on ESPN+, which is a pay channel. Boo! I'll watch the highlights tomorrow. I'm going to post a couple of recipes I don't want to lose track of. Posting them here is the best place to have them handy.

The last few weeks I have been noticing more and more people on Facebook and elsewhere promoting the idea that the Rapture is to be this month on the Feast of Trumpets. I have also seen almost as many predicting it for early next month on the Day of Atonement.
Not that I would mind at all if it was true, but what part of "no man knows the day or hour" do these people not understand?
I would think that after all of the false date setting predictions that we have seen over the last several years, even the more gullable would have learned not to put much stock in these sensationalist teachers and "prophets".

Like you, Mel, I'd be happy if the Rapture happened soon, but I think date-setting is a dangerous pursuit. When the date comes and goes, and 'nothing happened', what effect does that have on people? Especially those who have not been followers of Jesus for very long. A lot of the people these days probably don't know that much about the previous date-setters and false prophets. I'd guess they were largely known to smaller groups - like those of us here who have kept our eyes & ears open to that sort of phony stuff for years (ol' Peter Popoff was going all out selling "miracle" spring water on the TV channel I had on in the background before I switched over to the start of the football game). In the past 30+ years, I have not been in any church where those date-setters and false prophets were discussed in either a Sunday School class or by the pastor from the pulpit. <-- that's sad, but that's been my experience.
