A lot of the people these days probably don't know that much about the previous date-setters and false prophets. I'd guess they were largely known to smaller groups - like those of us here who have kept our eyes & ears open to that sort of phony stuff for years (ol' Peter Popoff was going all out selling "miracle" spring water on the TV channel I had on in the background before I switched over to the start of the football game). In the past 30+ years, I have not been in any church where those date-setters and false prophets were discussed in either a Sunday School class or by the pastor from the pulpit. <-- that's sad, but that's been my experience. Now that I think about it, the last time I heard anything of real substance said about false date setting at church was probably way back when Ol Harold Camping was giving a new Rapture / End of the World prediction every few months back in the early 2000s, antd that was at the Catholic church where Sharon and I sometimes went with her parents. I didn't know that Peter Popoff was still around. We used to see his commercials on TV all the time especially late in the evening, but I haven't seen any of them lately for at least a couple of years.

One of my little bushy tailed squirrel friends came around to see me this evening. That is the first time that I have seen any of them in quite a while. He got his peanuts and then spent some time checking out the new fence posts and climbing on them.

He got his peanuts and then spent some time checking out the new fence posts and climbing on them. That is so precious! He was inspecting the work to see if was acceptable! Too cute! We're concerned about the way the squirrels here are behaving in these late summer days. Usually, they have the pecan tree stripped of nuts & all carried away to be hidden in various spots. Some years they've dug holes in the ground & buried them. We've always cheered as that's a sign it will be a really mild winter. And they were usually better forecasters than any of the weather teams in the area. This year, the tree set fruits late, and since every few years it doesn't set fruit at all, I thought maybe this was one of those years (tho' didn't think it had been long enough in-between the last time it took a year off and now, but heh, what do I know). Well, the nuts, when they came on the tree, seemed to be heavier than usual. I figured the squirrels would be happy about that, even tho' there were fewer nuts. The squirrels have been working that tree for a month & a half - some mornings there have been as many as 4 or 5 squirrels in that tree at once. I walked out back last week, and was amazed to see the ground under that tree is covered with empty nut shells and bits of nutmeats. There were many nuts too just laying on the ground, and the big thick bright green hulls were a muddy brown. Mr. Milo Man has been carrying those nuts, shells, and pieces of nuts around in his mouth & chewing on them, loudly. I keep yelling, "What have you got in your mouth?!? Come here!" and running my fingers all around inside his big mouth, and under his tongue, and all the way back to the edge of his throat - you'd be amazed how much hiding space is inside that dog's mouth! Edward walked out there this afternoon and wondered aloud what on earth these squirrels are up to?!? What kind of a message are they sending out this year? Y'know, if I were working on the ideas like people who are date-setting, I'd speculate that the squirrels are eating every nut they can find now because something really big is going to happen before they would be able to eat those nuts if they'd hidden them somewhere like usual. No real date-setting in that ^^^ sort of speculation. This all is really uncharacteristic of these squirrels. What do you think they might be saying?

Maybe they're saying that the nuts are extra tasty this year. They're not being very neat about eating them all up - leaving a lot of nutmeat inside those shells. I went out this evening and raked up several big piles of pine needles, leaf litter, and pecans. Edward is going to help get it all picked up tomorrow. I still have plenty I can get out there early in the morning and rake up.

‘Morning Temp here at 7:10 is 59 Humidity is at 95 %
Yesterday ‘got to a couple of soccer games for grands. ‘Took those two home while son-in-law got to another grands game that was in a different place. It was very hot.
Earlier DS had stopped by & replace footings on a woofer speaker, as well as taken a load of bricks.
Thankful that I got home close to 4, as DS was pulling in to take more bricks from here. He bought me a couple of pumpkins from his garden, too. After bricks were loaded up we went to city barbecue & had a bite to eat. Good visit!

Good morning! I'm not sure what the temperature was here this morning, but it was cool enough that I was running the heater in my car on the way to church. This week's church video has some audio problems at the beginning, but it seems to clear up by around the 10 minute mark.

Two of my little squirrel friends came to see me today.
One of them that I hadn't seen lately seems to have lost about 2/3 of his tail, but he seems OK otherwise and the wound seems to be healed over. He got his peanuts and was running around playing with the other one. I told him that I was going to name him stumpy.

Good early evening all! It's been a hot & humid day here, but at least we've had a breeze. It was 97 at 5:30, and felt like 101. Thought I posted earlier today, but I must have been dreaming. I had awful dreams last night - one was a outright nightmare. I can't remember anything about it, but I woke up feeling emotionally exhausted & in despair. It took a little bit to get woke up, but I got up & went out back with the dogs & then dished up their breakfasts, turned on a pot of coffee, and got dressed to sit down and read the newspaper. It was early, but daylight, and I knew I didn't want to go back to sleep! I'm a little surprised I haven't been sleepy this afternoon. I'm hoping it's cooled off enough that we can get some big piles of leaf litter, etc picked up around the pecan tree this evening before dark. I'm soooo tired of Milo Man getting into those pecan hulls! I've been catching up laundry this afternoon. And I watched your church service from this morning, Mel! It was thrilling! I mean that in a sincere and positive way. I didn't get around to watching last week's sermon but now I really want to go back and watch that one too! I'd never before seen the parallels between the generations that way ... Saul's evil, Herod's evil, Jesus' actions (being the Messiah) - and how similar the evil kings have been. One sort of corny thought that popped into my head during the development of that 'evil kings timeline' is how many fake & false saviors there have been in stories & movies, acting in opposition to evil kings, but false messiahs nonetheless. Robin Hood was the hero that I was thinking of. I'm glad you post your church's sermons! I get a lot of out of them! Here's a good page I had fun reading my way through - I didn't try making any Yoda origami figures, but I really like the finger puppet version. www.wikihow.com/Make-an-Origami-YodaIf I 'get around to it' , I want to try to make the origami dragon. When I was a pre-teen, I learned how to make the fortune teller box - those things were as popular as the Magic 8 Ball! And all through jr high and high school, we all made secret note squares - used to play football with them in study halls when we were bored. Oh, the fun times! I've made swans too, but years back. I'd have to pull out directions and practice to be able to make any of these any more. Well, I have to put fish in the oven. Hopefully we'll eat & get outside in about 45 minutes ... won't quite be sunset yet, but the backyard will be all shaded. Hope you're all doing well!

Robin Hood was the hero that I was thinking of. I never thought of Robin Hood that way before. Another good example might be King Arthur "the Once and Future King" who according to some versions of the legend is to come again in the World's hour of greatest need. Edit to add: My favorite version of the Robin Hood story is the British "Robin of Sherwood" TV series that ran in the mid 1980s. When I was in high school I used to stay up late on Saturday night to watch that one on our local PBS channel. Good night!

Yesterday: I got to church, then posted a bill, had lunch & took a quick nap, rode my bike with a friend for 7.3 miles in an hour, did some yard work, for about 45 mins, cooked up some cut up chicken in olive oil & sesame oil, worked on redoing old photo albums that are overstuffed & coming apart, listened to a youtube re the rapture & was in bed by 1 am. lol

Good morning, Jeanette! Good morning, Mel! At 8 a.m. it's a sunny 70 degrees with no wind and humidity is 79%. The forecast calls for a high of 99 today. Milo has run in & out for the past hour. He'd love it if I'd just stay outside with him. I think little Leela has gone back to bed. Franny is asleep in the floor here beside me. I'm not surprised the Queen's funeral is being televised, I'm just surprised how many hours it is on American TV. I was looking for local news and there is simply is no break, apparently. That's okay - I'll check the local news app on my phone in a minute and get on with my day. Hope all y'all have a great Monday!
