Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year - begins at sundown on Sunday, September 25th. That puts a smile on my face! We sat down over breakfast this morning and planned our celebration of Rosh Hashanah. There'll be lots of prayers and praise - we have so much to be thankful for over the past year! I'm fixing a brisket and baking an applesauce cake. We'll probably have honey apples to start our meal, and I want a side dish and salad to go with it. So ... I'm excited! See y'all later!

Just saw the official high temperature for today: 99°. Whoo hoo! Summer is hanging on! Later - I hurried around & mixed a can of salmon into salmon patties. That was delicious! We had some seasoned steamed broccoli to go with the salmon. Tomorrow, which will probably be a long day (so hard to cook when I get home), we'll likely have lentil soup ... and maybe peanut butter sandwiches to go with that. We'll see. Hope you're all doing well this evening!

Good morning It is 65 degrees here this morning. Our extended forecast says that we should get up into the mid 80s this afternoon, but then things are to start really cooling off. By this weekend, we are expected to have a couple of days in the mid 50s with nighttime lows around 40. Hope you are all having a great day!

Sigh... One of the liberal loonies that is running to be PA's Senator wants to reform the prison system here in PA by making all bail free and releasing most current inmates from prison up to and including second degree murder. According to him, turning these people loose would save billions of dollars and would pose no real risk to the public because (according to him) less than 1% of released criminals become repeat offenders. He will probably win...

It was hot today! Up to 99 ... It's expected to reach 100 tomorrow, late in the afternoon. Hope you're all doing well this evening. There are HOA people trying to drag me back into HOA management, but I really don't want to add that into my day at the present. The HOA president came by this evening and we talked a long time. I hope to go to the next meeting, but I just want to see what's going on, not get re-involved. My coffee cups are really in sad shape. I only have 3 that fit my arthritic hands, and 2 of those are really showing wear. One is showing signs of glazing; the 2nd has a small chipped area around the rim, and there's a slight crack near the handle. It's amazing how tough it's been to find just 1 or 2 coffee cups that hold about 12 oz of coffee. Oddly shaped cups - those cups or mugs that are narrow at the base and wider at the top - and mugs that are bigger around than usual, neither of those work comfortably for me. I really didn't know I was so picky, but I am. On top of those things, I don't care for something that is a dark color on the inside of the cup. I want to see my coffee clearly when I look into the cup. I stopped at the thrift store this morning and found a really pretty bone china coffee cup that looks brand new. It was made in England, and it has a picture of Monticello on it. It's a beautiful pastoral scene surrounding Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. It was $1.50 -wow! Yes, I brought it home with me. I'll try it out at breakfast in the morning. Heading off to bed as soon as I take these dogs out back for a walk around the yard. See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! It's a pleasant 75 degrees with no wind at present. Heading for 100 this afternoon. The weatherman said the last 100-degree day on record for this locale occurred in mid-October decades ago. I think he's trying to condition us to the idea that hot weather may hang on for another month. We had a sicky-poo dog after 5 a.m. this morning. He chewed up the plastic handle on a kitchen knife yesterday afternoon. It was not close to the edge of the counter so he had to stand up to the counter to reach it. But, it had the scent of daddy's hands all over it so he had to have it! That's how Mr. Milo Man thinks. If he could just wear Edward's hands like a catcher's mitt under his chin, he'd be the happiest dog on earth. Thankfully, Milo seems to be feeling okay now. We work harder with this dog than any other dog we've ever had to 'puppy proof' the house and teach him to stay down, be calm, and don't chew on things that are not edible by dogs!, but he still gets into things he shouldn't, tho' not as often as earlier in the summer so he's catching on. How about this - today is the last full day of summer 2022. I've loved it; can't complain. Fall starts tomorrow evening. Wishing everyone a great last day of summer!

Local news is reporting that we have an Emu of all things on the loose in the area. Local officials should call Doug at Liberty Mutual. He probably forgot to lock the gate & Limu had to take a stroll! Great day here, but I don't think we quite reached 100. I was really hoping we'd tie or beat the record of 102 ... It would be a great way to end the season! I'll let you know if the ten o'clock news says we made it. Gonna watch Resident Alien.

We did! We made it! We reached 100 degrees briefly this afternoon. That's a nice finish to this summer of record-setting heat. Even if we have a few more days of 100 temps scattered across the remaining days of 2022, they won't count as having occurred in the summer. I really hope they tell us 'how many' days we officially hit 100 this year so far. Good night, y'all - I'm heading off to bed. I love y'all!

Good morning! It's 70 at present with an actual chilly breeze. I went out with the dogs about an hour ago and that breeze gave me goose bumps! Only supposed to reach 93 today. I'm locked out of my GoDaddy email so I have to call them and see if they can fix it for me. Oh, technology! Hope y'all have a great day!
