The workday didn't go as planned. I ended up doing 2 section 8 inspections. The house was not approved in the first one - we couldn't get to the furnace, which is up in the attic. I called the contractor, but he was mid-project in the next town north. He's bringing a ladder & meeting me tomorrow & and we are going to get some pictures of that furnace! The second inspection was an hour later so I had to race to get to it, with that tenant's lease in hand. That 2nd floor apartment passed easily, finally . Inspector left and I was locking the deadbolt, with my back to the parking lot. The incoming tenant calmly said, "They must not know you're here." -?- Ah, you should have seen the mayhem I saw when I turned around. I watched 4 vehicles race into the parking lot at high speed and reckless - full of people. They jumped out and squared off at each other like a brawl was about to begin, seriously. Lots of screaming and cussing, and people nearly coming to blows. It involved 2 apartments of tenants that are somewhat related to each other - and they're all over 50 years old, and in poor health - and all the incoming traffic were their relatives, most of them younger. I hung around a little while to see how that mess worked out. I finally got into the middle of things and started ordering people around. Most of the non-residents quickly left at that point. No one ever called the police. I thought I might do it myself if the old gal on the 2nd floor wanted to come screaming down the stairs and try to get in my face. I was prepared to tell her she was not in her right mind and I'd have her arrested in a heartbeat. As soon as I backed up far enough so she could see my face, as I looked up at her, hanging over the 2nd floor railing, she shut right up and shut herself in her apartment. Nita agreed with me a little later that the people in those 2 apartments need to go. We'll start with handing out Lease Violation Notices tomorrow. I got home just after 6 pm. Edward is so sweet! He had bloodwork done at the Cancer Center this afternoon and they have the best coffee in the county. He brought home a cup for me! I really enjoyed it. Decided to skip the HOA meeting, just wanted to chill out with Sweetie & the puptots, drink that delicious coffee, and fix a couple of baked potatoes for dinner. We loaded them up, more or less, with butter and sour cream, onions, and shredded cheese. We ate them while we watched a couple of Corner Gas episodes. We've decided we're not really interested in watching Weeds - we've seen enough of the first season to get caught up on the who's who of the cast. Corner Gas is much cleaner and funnier. www.cornergas.com/County Emergency Management sent out a text about 9:30 pm to say there was a mandatory evacuation order in place, due to a large gas line leak, for residents & businesses within a 1/2-mi radius of a point about 6 miles east of us. They extended that to a 1-mi radius an hour later, but not much info has been released so far. I walked out back with the dogs a few minutes ago and it's a really quiet night out there. We're heading to bed. See y'all in the morning!

Good morning, Mel! Good morning, Jeanette! It's 79 with humidity at 50%. If the wind comes up, it will be pretty pleasant outside! Kind of stuffy right now. Hope your hubby gets through the tradeshow without any major problems, and that your dentist appt goes well today. Hope your day goes well, Mel. I'm heading to the office shortly. Need to make sure there are keys for the bug man to check out. He's doing a quarterly spraying at the big complex this afternoon. Sweetie has floor duty this afternoon. I put a pound of beef that was labeled for stew into the crockpot. It was NOT cubed up like typical stew meat is cut (edited to add the word 'not'). It was cut in long, thin pieces - like for stir fry. It'll be okay - I'll cut it in pieces when it's cooked. I'm fixing a skillet of black beans, Ro-tel tomatoes & green chilis, chopped onions, & orange bell pepper for dinner. I wanted to toss in the cooked beef & stir it up to mix the flavors - that's why I wanted small chunks of beef. It'll be good, I think. We'll adapt. Hope y'all have a great day! County Emergency Management lifted the evacuation order last night - guess they fixed the broken gas line, which was reportedly a major supply line in that area. Doesn't sound like it caused any fires or injuries so I'm thankful for that.

Today started out bright and Sunny here, but it has gotten increasingly cloudy and dark as the day has gone on. I'm really sleepy this evening, but I'm trying to force myself to stay awake until my usual bedtime so that I don't repeat the restless night that I had last night. Hope you are all having a great day!

And in the news from PA: Armed man in clown wig hoping to ‘restore Trump as President king’ arrested at Dairy Queen in PennsylvaniaHe wasn’t just clowning around. An armed Pennsylvania man plotting to “restore (Donald) Trump as President king of the United States” was arrested at a Dairy Queen on Saturday. Cops said Jan Stawovy, 61, threatened to kill “Democrats and liberals” and claimed he was protecting himself from “drug traffickers,” Pittsburgh NBC affiliate WPXI reported. Stawovy was arrested in Delmont, about 20 miles east of downtown Pittsburgh. Police got a call about Stawovy driving erratically in the area, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. When cops caught up with Stawovy, he was spotted wearing a rainbow clown wig and walking into a Dairy Queen with a handgun. Stawovy was quickly detained inside the store, WPXI reported. Cops later said they found two more guns and more than 60 bullets in his vehicle. Stawovy did not have a permit for the weapons, police said. “Ofc. Stull detained the male and was able (to) prevent the possibility of a mass casualty incident,” Delmont police chief Timothy Klobucar said in a Facebook post. “I am grateful for Ofc. Stull’s fast response and actions (in) this incident that had the potential to end very differently.” Stawovy was formally charged with making terroristic threats, carrying firearms without a permit and disorderly conduct. www.yahoo.com/news/armed-man-clown-wig-hoping-215400567.htmlThe world just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

Good morning! It's 74 at present, on the way to 94 by late afternoon. That evacuation I posted about that was a few short miles across open ground from our neighborhood - ? Well, it was caused by someone shooting the big gas line that crosses the creek in that area with a shotgun. The evac order was lifted about 4 a.m. and everyone got to go back home. It's been a pretty crazy full moon week this month. 2 separate shootings (yes, the vics died), the broken gas line, at least a half dozen arson fires in 2 separate parts of town, antics by mentally disturbed tenants at two locations (I told you about the big one), and a half dozen dogs that managed to get out of their houses and yards (but at least 4 of them were found & returned, or simply came home a few hours later). I was out looking at the moon last night and it was still pretty round. I just looked at the moon chart and it's at 87% full today so the craziness should be dying down. Last night was a lousy night for sleeping - too hot in the house, I had a major bout of reflux about 1:30, I tossed & turned, laid awake off & on, just praying to go back to sleep. I had planned to go to the post thrift store this morning but really wasn't in the mood for that! Heading off to work ... have a section 8 inspection at 1:30 and the inspector will take a re-look at the house she inspected Monday. I don't think it will be ready even yet. The contractor is supposed to be over there today opening up an attic crawl space so the gas man can access the furnace to light it on Friday. I'm really hoping he finds an old attic ladder up there that he can re-attach. Otherwise, I think the owner oughta have a contractor install an actual attic ladder. Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

‘Morning
Yep re the world, Mel Yummy re your meal prep, Barb
Temp here is 71 degrees at 10:30am Humidity is 60 %
‘Didn’t get in bed until 2am … phone woke me close to 7 with another unknown number
That was aok, as DH texted & we could do our Bible reading together otherwise, I may have stayed asleep lol
Yesterday’s dental checkup was aok! I ran errands in that area with stops at: Habitat restore, then had a meal inside at the chick-fil-a, brief stop at the Hobby Lobby, Lowes, Target & Michael’s.
Home.
I check the restore for items on my mental list, didn’t take long.
Dinning in at the chick-fil-a, I was able to get a much “not” needed sweet tea refill that I “wanted” lol. The elderly ladies that keep the tables clean & chat with customers are very nice, as was the older lady behind the register. I think with all the kiddos back in school, there’s more openings for older folks. I did ask the one lady who would check in on me to please open the tiny packet of dressing for a small kale salad that came with my spicy grilled chicken delux (instead of fries).
I had tried & tried to open the packet - you know where it stated tear here ~ nope it wasn’t opening. I resisted using my teeth, as these packets are touched by lots of people. This elderly lady opened it very easily by tearing it in the middle! We both chuckled at that!
Hobby Lobby was a quick in & out, as last week & this week they didn’t have the photo splits little squares (box of 1,000) that I like to use.
Lowes had the little mums on sale! I picked up 6 trays of three, as well as some top soil.
Target didn’t have any photo splits either, but I did pick up Some almond milk, bananas & staples, as I saw them there.
Michael’s was closed by & there was one open box of photo splits that I picked up & got a discount on! There was also some packets of paper in clearance & I picked up three different theme packets!
I was content that I had gotten to all those places! Although there are a few other stores in that area, I just have to pace myself & stop when my energy level says go home. lol
Once home, rested a little reading a book and then some yard fun/work moving some older mums & planting some some newer ones. I also trimmed some crepe myrtles. I had to stop because of energy level & yellow jackets were around.
‘Turns out want to get some more top soil for over the weed netting, I put down, from DH still had leftover from the pavers he had put in.
I checked with DH re wire cutters to trim a tomato wire holder down to put around the big mums I moved. I wasn’t able to cut the wire, no matter which wire cutters I used!
‘Probably need to work on improving my hand strength! First the dressing packet & then the wire cutters lol

You really had a full day on Tuesday Jeanette! Planting mums sounds like fun. I love mums. My mom was into peony bushes, and touch-me-nots. I was into Rose-of-Sharon shrubs and marigolds. I haven't planted anything since we moved into town 20 years ago. I really hope I can get back into it next year. The house that failed inspection yesterday passed its re-inspection today. That tenant is probably moving in beginning Fri evening. I'm excited for her. She's a veteran, & she's been staying at a shelter. The set of tenants that are pregnant, & who a bad tenant was harassing, picked up keys & signed a new lease this afternoon. They're moving into the mid-size complex we manage. It has much less drama. I like those people - he works construction, she works as an administrative assistant at one of the hotels. Smart, polite, & pleasant. Hope we all sleep well tonight! See you tomorrow!
