Good morning! There was a cool breeze blowing at 7:30 this morning. I haven't been back outside yet to see if that's changed, but it probably has. It's supposed to reach the low 90s this afternoon. It's a Thursday - doesn't feel like a Thursday. Probably because there was a holiday on Monday! I haven't been sleeping well, but last night I was in bed at 9:30 and asleep in a few very short minutes! I really needed that - only got up once (about 3:30 but went right back to sleep) and slept till 7:30 this morning. I woke up feeling pretty energetic, thankfully! Mel said: Nope - don't think I'd ever seen that before! That's pretty interesting. Yosemite Sam is Jewish! Jeanette said: That's a great adventure, Jeanette! I can relate! I wish I had a bigger loaf pan, but I've just given up. I found a neat heavy baking pan at a antique store going-out-of-business sale a few months ago. It's the best thing since sliced bread for all kinds of baking and casseroles so I just decided to make do with it and the Bundt pan. I don't bake a lot, but when I do, I just want to pull out the right plan, pour in the batter & pop it in the oven. I wish I had my mom's tube pan. No idea what ever happened to it, but it wasn't at the house when we sorted out everything there. I've only needed it once in the past few years. It was some kind of treasure hunt to find one, and it was a 2-piece affair and a little pricey. I bought it but now I wish I hadn't. Whatever I baked in it wasn't the delicious treat we were expecting so I'll never make it again, I'm sure. I have no place to store this klunky pan except on top of the china hutch. I'm planning to consign it to the thrift shop on post. Baking season is coming up, after all. Maybe somebody will need it. We'll see. Well, I've gotta wrap up a couple of things here at home and head to the office. I want to be there by noon so I can dash off to Wal-Mart on the westside of town at 4. I need to find a better collection of fresh turkey items than the closest Wal-Mart is offering, even tho' prices have gone up. We're not as well stocked on those items as I'd thought. And besides, I need to pick up a pack of doggy vitamins. *sigh* Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Lately I've been watching some of the classic Loony Tunes shorts (the pre 1970 ones) on youtube. As a kid, I loved Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Loony tunes gang. They just don't make good cartoons like that anymore. I'm sure that I saw most of these cartoons before when I was a kid, but there is so much that I had forgotten. I've always been a fan of Speedy Gonzales, but I had completely forgotten about Speedy's cousin Slowpoke Rodriguez!

I'm sure I've forgotten a lot of the references too. Bet there's a lot of really good history & political sentiment in those pre-1970s episodes. I do remember Slowpoke Rodriguez because he was humorous.

Good morning! It is a chilly 58 degrees here this morning, but it is expected to get up to around 80 this afternoon. I need to get a few things from the store this morning, but I am waiting for it to warm up a little bit. Hope you all have a great day!

That hamster wheel idea is pretty funny! I don't know how those Cali residents can stomach that man as their governor. We had a gourmet dinner made in our own kitchen last evening. We had turkey cutlets with a lime butter sauce that was remarkable. To go with that, we had a chopped salad with a dijon maple dressing and chunks of fresh apple, and brown rice with mushrooms. For dessert we split a square slice of carrot cake. We also had a jalapeno cream cheese pastry for an appetizer, but we saved it for breakfast this morning. I made scrambled eggs for breakfast to go with the pastry (we split it) and we each had half an avocado and fresh hot coffee. I'll put the recipe for the cutlets in lime butter sauce later today ... I really don't want to lose that one! Hope y'all have a great day!

Good morning! It's 62 & sunny with a cool breeze. No rain in the forecast here. Hope you don't have too much rain, Jeanette. I agree with you,Mel - great day to catch up on laundry & dishes, and other housework. These dogs are shedding so hard I'll bet we can build a mini schnauzer out of the dig hair I'll sweep up lol. Y'all have a great Saturday!

Have you noticed how ugly the 2022 US Quarters are? If you haven't, take a look at your quarters. Washington is facing to the right, whereas he's always faced left. Look at how they've 're-styled' his hair. What a hideous portrayal of the first president of the US. Take at the 2021s also. A change was made at some point in the year. I noticed I have 3 with the date on the back, along with Tuskegee Airmen. 1 has a Phila mint mark, while the other 2 have Denver. They also say Alabama on them, so it must have been time to cut a quarter for the state of Alabama. The rest of them have Washington Crossing the Delaware on the back. I am definitely spending those ugly 2022 quarters. But the rest I tossed back into my quarter jar. Sally Ride is on the back of some of them, and Maya Angelou is on the rest. Quarters in that jar date all the way back to 1964. It struck me for the first time that I came here in 1979 and DS was born in 1989. So many things had happened in those 10 years!!! Wow! Okay ... gotta put up some laundry in the dryer so I can put a load of socks & towels in the washer.

I had to look the new 2022 quarters up online to see what they looked like.
I don't think that I have come across any of those in my change yet.
