Good evening Everyone
Thankful DH arrived safely home yesterday, from Kansas City, MO! We enjoyed a good early dinner & then ventured out to see the movie, “Top Gun Maverick “ 🇺🇸 We had watched the original “Top Gun” last weekend, 1986!
DH wanted me to reserve seating while he drove 🤪 yeah, not happening, as I figured we’d either get seats when we arrived or not 😂 I prefer in person purchase & cash payments 😉 yep I'm a dinosaur & probably should see the next Jurassic movie instead!
At first, we ended up not sitting together though because I hesitated 😂 but then folks never did get the seats beside me, so DH moved up to sit beside me.
Also, the Senior citizen discount was better than military 😞
Later this Saturday afternoon, I started bunny sitting, Mr. Blizzard, until next Friday. DD#2 has a stocked fridge & I did get in the pool a little bit ago, just to do a few laps back & forth, to offset all the cookies that I baked & have eaten yesterday & today! Yummy

Good morning! It is a relatively cool 55 degrees here this morning. I had an odd dream last night that we had a major blizzard in the middle of the Summer and everyone had to go out and shovel the snow off of the roads because gas was too expensive for the snow plows to run.

Good morning! It's warm here, but not uncomfortable. I hope we have more wind today - it was too calm yesterday, and in the heat, everything really bakes when there's no wind. Your dream was great, Mel! Our dreams are highly influenced by things we've read & seen so it makes sense to me, considering the state of the world these days. I think we probably have at least one of each of those types of forks in our kitchen at present. I used to sleep with a 2-pronged metal meat fork under his pillow when my late-dh would be out in the field with the national guard, in the days before DS was born. I'm right-handed, but I always figured I could pull that meat fork out with my left hand and stab someone if I were being attacked in the middle of the night! Thankfully I never had to find out, and after DS started walking, I left the meat fork in the kitchen. Have fun bunny-sitting, Jeanette! That rabbit doesn't know how good he's got it, I'll bet. I'm right there with you - there are so many things I could do on my phone, and some even on the computer, but I don't want to. I've basically put my foot down when it comes to what I'll do high tech-wise. Had a good time yesterday. I grocery shopped, and the commissary only had a few shoppers so it was quiet and I could walk leisurely up & down the aisles, do a little comparison shopping & price checking. I really chilled out and relaxed. Found a really good price on some steamable frozen veggies we like, and picked up the best looking package of beef stew meat, which had a decent (for today) price on it and added those to the cart even tho' they weren't on my list. The commissary shelves were the emptiest I've seen them since this whole mess started. It was a little shocking. One young army wife came barreling around the end of an aisle, shrieking at her husband that the commissary was "out of everything!" She asked him what they're going to do now? He got her calmed down, took the store list with one hand and her arm with the other and said they'd see what substitutions they could make. I thought, "mm, boy, if she's panicking today, what's she going to do if things re-ally turn bad?!?" Stopped by Wal-Mart for produce, which I usually can't get at the commissary. That store was packed, but I only needed 4 specific items so I loaded those right up & found the shortest checkout line. I don't do those scan-&-go, self checkout lines. And then I stopped at Dollar General and bought Sweetie some cookies he likes. I'm putting that beef stew meat into the crockpot this afternoon with some black beans & okra. Trying out a spicy Mexican Beef Stew recipe that came in a box of crockpot liners. We don't do much for Mother's Day or Father's Day so no special goings on here. I'm doing some laundry & dishes and then we're going to make a door for the laundry room pantry so it's not standing wide open. I have to run over to the duplex this afternoon & pick up whatever report the city sewer crew left re: the work they did on the sewer line Friday&Saturday. My favorite plumber guy said he'd be available this afternoon if I needed him over there to do work on the owner's side of the sewer line. Hope you all enjoy your day, however you spend it.

My Grandfather on my Mom's side of the family was really worried about burglars in his later years. He used to sleep with a loaded pistol under his pillow. When they went to bed at night, my Grandmother would always check to make sure that it was pointed away from her side of the bed before they turned in.

I have to chuckle about your grandmother's precautions. I don't blame your grandfather for sleeping with a pistol, and it was great idea for your grandmother to always check it out. There were several home invasions in SW Okla in the 1980s and early '90s. Sometimes the invaders & residents knew each other, but sometimes they didn't. There hasn't been much of that sort of thing in the past 20 years or more, but one never knows. It could happen anywhere, anytime - the world being as crazy as it is. Milo is having some stomach/bowel troubles ... I'm really hoping he hasn't eaten something that involved wood or metal that could have cut his insides. I don't know what's going on, but I'm hoping he's okay and can be seen at the vet's tomorrow. Edward has his 1st appt with the cardiologist in the morning, and I have to accompany a potential tenant to a house just after lunch for the other Realtor in our office. I'm hoping we can get Milo squeezed in tomorrow after that.

Praying for your DH’s appointment & that Milo to be squeezed in at the vet tomorrow Praying for your sanity, peace & calm to be your covering as you juggle tomorrow’s happenings …
Side note:
My DH slept with a machete underneath his pillow as a teenager. The neighborhood was very … rough.

Thanks for your prayers, Jeanette! Edward was in here a few minutes ago to say he thinks he'll feel much better after he meets with the cardiologist tomorrow. Y'know, it's that 2-edged sword of anticipation and anxiety. Milo seems to have felt pretty good today, but I know he's still had some diarrhea. We've been careful not to feed him anything but dry dogfood, and only beef. This was a great Father's Day ... DS showed up this afternoon and gave Sweetie a Firestick for Father's Day. He got busy and hooked it up, started programming it and sat here talking with Sweetie for a couple of hours as they hunted TV shows and movies to load for watching later. Sweetie has beamed all evening over that visit. They're pretty close - always have been. Funny thing was, DS doesn't own a Firestick, but he was so impressed with the one he gave his dad, he said he's going back to the store & get one for himself in the morning. Oh, those 2 guys ... they're the delight of my life! The Mexican Beef Stew was really tasty. It wasn't spicy, like I thought it was going to be, but it had a really rich flavor. There's a little leftover for tomorrow or Tuesday. I just love this Last Cat Built, Mel!
