Our office Christmas party was pretty good. Lots of snacky, finger foods. Sweetie thinks he got into some high fructose corn syrup possibly in one of the sauces that was on meatballs. He was feeling crummy by the time we got home. One of our Realtors has a young granddaughter - maybe 6 or 7 years old? - who is talented to the point that she is a member of the actor's guild and is actually being paid for performances around the country. The little girl came and sang the epic piece from Annie, "The Sun'll Come Up Tomorrow", along with a few Christmas songs. She finished up with "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", and danced to it. She's very talented & charming. We all applauded appropriately. I do hope things work out well for her. Oh, and get this - I received a Christmas bonus! I can't tell you how many years it's been since I worked somewhere that actually paid anyone a Christmas bonus! The amount isn't the issue; it's the idea that the woman I work for values my services that much. I am thankful, and God bless her! We stopped at Wal-Mart afterwards; Edward is shopping for a dash cam for each of our vehicles. He didn't find what he wanted, but I found a digital AM/FM radio - something that reminds of me of a transistor radio I had through my teen years. Well - y'all have a great rest of the evening.

Good morning! It is a dark and rainy 36 degree morning here. I got up and made an early morning run to the grocery store so that I hopefully won't need to go there any next week during the last minute Christmas rush. They were pretty well stocked for a change, and I was actually able to get everything on my list (and a couple of things that weren't too). I hope you all have a great weekend! Only one more week till

Good morning! The wind is really roaring out of the north. It was 39 at 8 a.m. with a windchill of 27. Doubtful that anything has changed since then. The sun is shining brightly but it's too far away to warm us up. That's great that the store was stocked well today, Mel! I'm planning to make the last run before Christmas next Wednesday. I need produce and don't want to buy too soon as it may not keep well. I'll prepare it on Friday, so that'll be pretty good timing.I'm looking forward to making the salad - if it turns out even relatively close to the photo in the Betty Crocker International Cookbook, I'll take a picture and post it here. I've got laundry in the dryer so I'm determined to go out in the courtyard and rake those leaves that have piled up in the corners out into the front yard so this roaring north wind can blow them away. See y'all later! The Realtor whose deals I'm watching while she & her husband move their son to Florida for college posted a few pictures from the Duck Dynasty site in Monroe, LA this morning. Looks like they're taking the tour. They're still a long way from Clearwater, but they'll surely be there by tomorrow. Those memes are great - especially got a kick out of the vendor who was out of frankincense.

For some reason, I've been kind of sleepy all day. It is not quite 6 PM here, but it feels like it should be much later. Think it could be the weather, or time of year? I felt that way at least 3 evenings after work this past week. I came home & sat down to chill a few minutes & instantly fell asleep. I didn't sleep long, I woke up & fixed dinner, but still ... Today was better because I got out & got a lot of fresh air & soaked in a lot of sunshine. I know I'll start getting better as soon as the sun starts coming up earlier & setting later. We used up the last of the onions at breakfast this morning so I ran to Wal-Mart to pick up onions & a plastic milk crate that I forgot I wanted when we stopped there last evening. They are largely out of anything that can be included in a holiday meal. I'm glad I didn't need anything in particular for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinners. I picked up a nice 1 lb slab of beef skirt steak. Edward found a delicious sounding recipe titled, Garlic Butter Brazilian Steak. He's going to fry that up for dinner tomorrow afternoon. Well, I've caught up on reading this week's newspapers (we don't have a Monday or Saturday, sadly); have caught up on the laundry (including a 2nd wash of Franny's favorite big, soft blanket); and have a load of dishes running in the dishwasher at the moment. I've been browsing through the new Air Frying Quick & Easy Recipes book and have found I can air fry the cod fish fillets I'm fixing on Christmas Eve. And now, at 7:45 p.m., I have to agree with you, Mel - it feels much later, maybe around 11 p.m. Well, I can go through a magazine or two that I haven't finished yet ... See y'all in the morning!
