It was 30 degrees at 8 a.m. & is now almost 60. We should top out in the low 60s this afternoon. The sun is brilliant. We had a great service at 1st Dallas this morning. Pastor Jeffress preached on the birth of Jesus as a 3 Act play. There were great points. Thanks for posting Pastor Adam's sermon, Mel. He's a pastor that I am thankful to have in my life. We've caught a few mice this weekend. Sweetie thinks we may be winning the battle. I'll be more confident after I clear off a set of shelves in the laundry room and "don't" find a nesting area. That, and some laundry, is what I'm about to start on next. Have you seen anything on this Parade of Planets that will be visible shortly after dark this evening? www.msn.com/en-in/money/topstories/parade-of-planets-to-be-visible-in-the-night-sky-on-12-december-all-you-need-to-know-about-this-celestial-event/ar-AARFRKgA friend told me about this yesterday so I don't want to forget to go outside with a pair of binoculars and see if I can see all of them. I love celestial events. I hope you each and all have a terrific Sunday afternoon & evening.

That parade of planets sounds interesting, but it probably won't be viable here due to heavy cloud cover.

Yep! The 2-tone dog on the right (as you look at the comic strip) is Houston D. Hound Dog, and the light-colored dog on the left is Ge'dogg! Oh, we are worn out! We've cleaned up the laundry room - I threw out probably 2/3's of the stuff on those 5-shelves, plus emptied out 2 cardboard boxes that were stacked on the floor at the base of that shelf unit. The smaller box on top was where I found the mouse nest - shredded paper, and the bottom of the inside had a layer of mouse poop in it. We hauled out 2 big black trashbags that were full. I think they're 39 gallon bags. The interesting thing is, about 80% of the stuff I threw out needed thrown out because it was old, outdated, dry-rotted, whatever and tossing it had nothing to do with the fact there have been mice in the laundry room. What a way to get us out there to sort out that shelf unit! We're re-washing some "clean" towels that were stacked on the laundry table & the mice had run across them, leaving a trail that clued us in. I just washed those towels one evening last week. Teach me to leave anything laying around. I'm running down the street to Subway to pick up a footlong sub for us to split for dinner. We've definitely worked up an appetite!

The sky here is pretty clear this evening. It's very cold out. The wind chill is 48, but it could easily be 10 degrees colder from the way it feels. I could see Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, the moon, and I think Uranus. I couldn't find Ceres, Neptune, or Pallas. It was too cold to stand out there, & I was wearing a warm winter coat. But still happy that I went out and looked. Later: Mm, boy, am I tired. Edward said he is too. He moved items I couldn't reach up to deal with, plus sorted tools. He was busy the whole time I was so I know he got a lot done. He really straightened up the shelves in the florida room too. That had all been sorted before, he was straightening it up, putting like items together. He's not setting out any mousetraps tonight. He wants to see if we have any evidence of mice in the morning. He's really hoping we've gotten rid of the mice - either because we trapped them, or ran them out because we took away their hiding places. We'll see tomorrow. I'm heading to bed - see you tomorrow! Love you all!

Good morning ☀️ it’s 61 degrees here in Spring Hill, Florida. We drove here yesterday, to spend the evening & visit with my brother overnight.
It took us about ten hours with many stops.
I was looking through Shutterfly pictures, and the last time I saw my brother was in 2005 at his daughters wedding. My DH had visited my brother & his wife, a couple times when he traveled to Florida for his job.
January, 2006, is when I broke my foot & eventually got the DVT & everything else :-X

Good Monday morning! It's sunny & cold here, windchill is 39. It's supposed to reach the high 60s this afternoon, and be warmer over the next couple of days before another coldfront comes through on Thursday. I think the prediction for Christmas Day is now mid-50s. The chief meteorologist has already said our chance for seeing a white Christmas is 0-10%. That's great you got to see your brother, Jeanette! Hope your trip back home goes well. I'd luv to stay home & work on sorting out some things in the garage today. But, can't do that. I'm really hoping we get things slowed down so Nita & I can each take some time off after the 22nd till about the 4th of January. I'm watching another Realtor's deals for her while she & her dh move their son to Florida to start college in residence. They're leaving this week, between Wednesday & Friday. I'm hoping the deals just keep moving through the closing process with no snags. She's not supposed to be back until about the 9th. Hope y'all have a great day!

We've had a little excitement with our dinner -- I was broiling a 1-lb chunk of London broil and next thing I knew, beautiful golden fire was just rolling out of the oven. The flank steak was on fire, and it had joined to the broiler flame, which is at the top of the oven. I flipped off the broiler and Edward turned off the stove burner. He grabbed a fork and pulled the oven rack part of the way out, grabbed oven mitts and took it on out - set it on the open oven door. The flame was nearly out by then, just a little grease in the steak pan, which he blew out. It wasn't all that scary - it didn't appear it would catch anything else on fire, so long as we hurried up & got it out. I just wasn't sure what more we might need to do to get it out - I was thinking of pouring baking soda on it, but I didn't want to ruin the steak! The meat wasn't done enough, even for Edward - who likes steak medium rare - so I pulled out a skillet, put the steak in it, poured the little bit of pan juices over it, and finished cooking it. It was delicious! One of the knobs on the front of the stove melted, but it still works. All the stove burners work. I'm letting the oven cool off before I try turning it on. I think a can of oven cleaner and a little elbow grease will clean up that oven just fine. I'll order a knob from our appliance repair guy - I owe him some money anyway for replacing an oven element at one of our rentals last week, he hasn't brought me an invoice yet. Well - I'm going back in there and clean up the kitchen, load the dishwasher, and see how things look now. Hope y'all have a great rest of the evening! I think we will. And, really, I am thankful that was not a bad experience.

Good morning! It was another cold 30 degree morning here but it is expected to get up into the low 50s by this afternoon. I'm thankful to hear that your oven fire didn't get out of control before you could deal with it. I need to get some groceries and a few things from Walmart this morning and then take care of a few chores around the house this afternoon. I think that I am going to have tuna salad for lunch. I haven't made that for a while. Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning! It was pretty foggy @7:30 this morning, & very humid. The cloud cover is breaking up & the sun is shining. It's supposed to reach the low 70s today.
Small claims court went fast as the tenant didn't show. I'm waiting on Edward to meet me at Whataburger for breakfast now.
We have a gas stove in the little shop over at our apartments. We're going to see if the knobs will fit the range in our kitchen. Thanks, Mel - it was a relief to us too that we got the fire out without problems.
Finally got my referral to the ortho doc for next Monday @11:30. Yay!
Hope y'all have a great day!

*Sigh* It's been sooo nice to chill out for the past couple of hours. I've looked through some old Army memorabilia. Tossed some of it; kept some items for DS that I thought he & the 2 older grands might also find interesting. The remainder I kept as mementos for me. I really needed this ^^^ kind of peace. I spent the last hour of my work day with a raging handyman (former Realtor) who I've known for years. All he was asked to do was meet me at an apartment that needed the locks changed because we'd evicted the tenant a week ago. I have no idea why the guy was in such a rage, but it wasn't my problem - I like my job. After nearly an hour, he'd finally finished and left. I sat in the Tahoe for a few minutes, breathing deeply, before I drove home. I felt like he'd sucked the life right out of me. Where have all these angry people come from?!? Welp, back to small claims court in the morning - our last case for the year. For now, I'm going to walk the dogs out back, and then go to bed. Oh, Mel - it's so funny, I reached for my phone to text you at a red light this afternoon & then had to laugh, reminding myself that I don't have your phone number! I was behind a car with a PA license plate. There was a plate holder that read, =SHAZAM!= across the top & then had the dealership name across the bottom. I was going to snap a photo & text it to you. I think it was KeithJohnsonAuto.com. When the post was about double the size it is now, we had lots of PA license plates running around SW Okla, but today's was the first I've seen in a really long time. See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! It's 31 degrees here this morning, but no wind so it doesn't feel too bad. Lots of frost on the car windows.
