As usual, I am going to be posting the video of my church's 8 AM worship service from this morning when it becomes available a little bit later this morning, but first I wanted to give a little background information on what led Pastor Adam to preach this particular message as his introductory comments may not make a lot of sense if you are not aware of the local situation.
Put simply, our church's congregation holds to the traditional doctrine that the Bible is the Word of God and is 100% true in everything that it says; but over the last few years, the new leadership that has gained control of our denomination on the national level has rejected that in favor of the liberal view that the Bible is only infallible in spiritual matters but is not to be trusted in regard to historical facts like six day creation, world wide flood, miracles, etc.
Adam has been censured by the denomination more than once for continuing to teach the traditional doctrine of a 100% inerrant Bible, but he continues to hold out for the truth.

Great new thread for autumn, Mel! I have sooo much respect for Pastor Adam. I'm looking forward to watching the service later. edited because my pointer finger so often doesn't hit the 's' key, and it's hit the 'd' key so many times, the phone doesn't hardly believe any words are spelled with an 's'!

Here is the video of this morning's service.
Please note that due to a technical glitch with the recording equipment, there is about two and a half minutes of blank screen at the beginning of the video before the actual recording starts.

Leela was sitting up for a treat this morning, and she got her wish. Edward was buttering a breakfast biscuit - and a glob of butter fell off the knife, bounced off his t-shirt, and slid down the front of the lower cabinet. He pointed to the buttery mess on the cabinet door and whispered to Leela to get it. She went for it - had to sit up to reach the highest point to lick. He was whispering because he didn't want to alert Franny, wherever she was dozing, because she really can't have butter! (we're avoiding pancreatitis) We're all out of avocados. Think I'll make a quick trip to Wal-Mart & pick up a handful. See ya'll all later. Have a great afternoon!

I have to be extra careful not to let the lid off of container or she will eat it till she makes herself sick.

FaithyJ once stood up to the counter and stole a whole stick of butter. She hid somewhere and ate it. Apparently it did not make her sick. Fran once stole a nearly empty butter tub off the opposite counter (next the fridge) and beat feet outside to lick it clean in the shade. Fortunately, she didn't suffer any ill effects. We were much more careful to keep things way back where even the tall girls couldn't reach them after those episodes. Tahoe is running great! I drove it halfway across town & back, to the central Wal-Mart - to pick up some avocados & fresh tomatoes. I'm a happy gal! edited to make corrections. God Bless America! I cannot type when I'm distracted ... It's bad enough when I'm focused. Later: I got registered with a school to complete some continuing ed so I can renew my real estate license. Have to take 21 hrs & be done before October 31st. It's 10:30 but feels like midnight. We watched the end of the Notre Dame vs Florida State. They were tied up & in overtime. FSU had the game won, till their coach challenged a fumble call. That took back a field goal they'd just made & when the ball was moved several yards closer, the kicker missed the 2nd attempt. That cost them the game. I don't blame the kicker - it was a wrong coaching call that started that loss. See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! Almost afternoon here. It's only 83 at present. And there's no wind, so the air is really stuffy. The AC has kicked on here in the house, but I'll turn it up if it doesn't go off soon. It's not 'hot' enough to have the AC running. That dalmatian is sooo cute! He really thought he had a playmate that was surely on the other side of that fence. Hope y'all are doing well this Monday. The only thing we're doing in regard to the day being Labor Day is we're going to have an early picnic-style dinner late this afternoon: Black Angus burgers; baked beans; and potato salad. And probably lots of ice water to wash it down. Later: I finally connected those mini plastic crates & pushed them back against the wall in the lower cabinets that I store food in. They worked really well. Those little crates are roughly 8" X 7" X 6" tall. I turned them upside down because I'm not putting things inside of them, I'm using them as a barrier (or spacer). I'm going to pick up a few more this week so I can do very top cabinet - it's a long one & neither of us push things back in it because I'd need a stepladder to reach anything in the back half of that cupboard. Sweetie reaches items in the front half with no problem; some I can and others I have to grab with a set of tongs or stand on a 2-step stool. This "barrier" solution is a godsend!

Shana Tova to you as well, Mel! ... Rosh Hashanah begins here in just under 30 minutes, at sundown. I'm baking a honey applesauce cake in celebration.

That honey applesauce cake sounds interesting. I don't think that I have ever heard of that before. Rosh Hashanah, being the Jewish New Year, apple slices are dipped into honey and a prayer is said, asking God to "renew us for a good and sweet year." Usually, either raw apples and honey are served, or an apple & honey cake is baked and served. I'm sure it's all in how traditional a family may be. We don't know the way of holding a dinner and celebrating Rosh Hashanah in a traditional manner, so I looked for a recipe for a honey applesauce cake. There are so many recipes - whatever your preference when it comes to apples & honey, there's a recipe for a cake. This cake was fun to make. I didn't find 'exactly' what I was looking for, so after having read through 3 possible candidates, I dove in and baked a cake. It turned out great! I should have probably made it this morning so it would have thoroughly cooled and 'aged' a little before sundown. But, we dove right into it while it was still warm, added some butter, and luv, luv, luvved it. This cake has a light texture, it's sweet, and it smells delicious too. I'll put the recipe in the Desserts section tomorrow.
