Good morning! It's 65 degrees, very muggy with a heavy gray cloud cover. Those clouds are moving to the east, fast. I actually had a good night's sleep, which I really appreciate. The dogs didn't get up till sunrise - they couldn't believe I was up putting away clean laundry and unloading the dishwasher. I'm about to feed them breakfast and maybe they'll be a little more spunky. Y'all have a great day!

These silly squirrels are next door lounging on the neighbor's patio chairs. They're livin' the high life! Court is over. The tenant actually paid up, & has his gas turned on now. 👍 I'm stopping at our little shop to see what sort of gas stove is setting in here. ...

It was a good afternoon, in spite of the weather! The winds were high, but it was terribly overcast all day. I don't think the wind was as high as last time we had a high wind warning - about a week & a half ago. But, parts of the state are having a tough time this afternoon with monster grass fires. There was even one of those monsters in the northern part of our own county. It did reach 80 this afternoon. Carmen (Cricket55) texted earlier this afternoon to say people in part of Iowa were really concerned about the potential for tornadoes, and then Amy (metroames) posted on fb to ask for prayers for family & friends in northern Iowa & Minnesota because of the potential for heavy storms. That may be close enough to include Carmen's brothers in Charles City & her childhood home. If you're so inclined, please pray for those areas & people living in them. I spent a large part of the afternoon re-filing in a couple drawers of the filing cabinet. I was happy with the results. I divided several categories between the 2 drawers and now there's a lot more room to pull out a file and add more to it. Before, things were so crammed together in only one drawer, it was very frustrating to try to find anything. I've seen the beginning of the news now, so I'm going in the kitchen to cook up some dinner. I hope you're all doing well. See you later.

We fi-nally tried out our new air fryer and made potato latkes. Mm, mm, good! Edward made a few in his favorite skillet on the stove too, for comparison purposes. Latkes made in each case were tasty. I preferred the air fryer version because they were dryer and tasted more like they'd been baked. Now I want to try more things in the air fryer. Y'all have a great rest of the evening ... I'm hoping to go to bed a little earlier tonight than I have the past couple nights.

Good morning! It's 43 now, with a high of 61 forecast. My veteran's group is having a Christmas luncheon today & we're going. I haven't attended on a regular basis since they started back to holding meetings. I'm hoping we have a good get-together. I have to meet a pest control guy to spray 2 apt buildings after lunch so we're taking 2 vehicles to the luncheon & I'm taking a change of clothes. I'm not trekking around pesticides in dressy clothes. Stove knobs are fairly standard. I pulled the knobs off the Tappan in our shop & they fit just fine on the Kenmore in our kitchen. Y'all have a great Thursday!

Hello! It's really cooling off this evening. Not sure we actually reached 60 this afternoon, but it was pleasant to stand directly in the sun. Our veterans' group luncheon was really good. The group has gotten pretty small but the fellowship was really good today. We were glad we went. There's a lot of military history contained within the members of that group. Our table had some good laughs thinking of ways we'd solve city council's problems. I think we decided we should vote all of them out of office and start over. We're about to take a quick drive around our horseshoe to see if anyone has put up Christmas lights. Our HOA is having a contest, and, as a ward rep, I was expected to recommend a house in my ward as a potential winner. I told the gal running this show to pick one - I haven't seen any lights on my half of the horseshoe & I rarely drive the other half after dark. I assured her I'll be happy with her choice. I decided we should take the short trip & see how many houses are lit & decorated. See you later!

Good morning! It is a sunny 50 degrees here this morning which makes it the warmest morning we have had for a while, but today's high is only forecast to be 54 and then the extreme cold is expected to return for the next several days with most of next week being in the 20s and 30s. Our local school district is on high alert today because of online bomb threats. Local authorities say that they don't think the threats are credible and schools are open, but many parents are keeping their kids home today.

I didn't do any decorating for Christmas this year other than a wreath on the front door.

Not many houses are decorated around here, but the few that are all have really nice displays. I didn't do any decorating for Christmas this year other than a wreath on the front door. Out of 29 houses on our circle (which is really a horseshoe), there are 6 or 7 that are decorated. Most are rather sparse - maybe a strand of lights above a garage door or along the walkway to the front door. One house is really beautifully done in blue & white lights all across the front of the house. Their nextdoor neighbor however, has stuffed their front yard with everything they could find that lights up - . People really seem to be going all out, as much as they can, in decorating this year all over town and out in the rural areas too. I have my nativity scene that lights up setting in the living room. I have a couple more too - one is small, and it's in the bedroom where it can be easily seen but won't fall off the table. The other takes some work to set it up so I didn't get it out this season.

Our local school district is on high alert today because of online bomb threats. Local authorities say that they don't think the threats are credible and schools are open, but many parents are keeping their kids home today. Is this a nationwide thing today, or what? This was all over the local news this morning - the local school systems that are in session today are holding classes as usual after putting out assurances that they've worked with local law enforcement, inspected their facilities, and this is a bad hoax. I think local Lawton schools started Christmas break at the end of the school day yesterday. The military went on Christmas break yesterday and the school system here ties their schedule to match Ft. Sill's schedule when they can so families can be together. It's gloomy here this morning. We're supposed to have rain with high winds this afternoon. It's not going to reach 60 today, probably. We've been without rain for 49 days as of yesterday. Hope you each and all have a great Friday. Our office Christmas get-together is being held in the office conference room from 4-6 today. That's massively scaled back from the days of holding it at the brokers' lovely home or at one of the typical venues like the country club. But, I'm sure those of us who attend will have a good time.

It is nationwide unfortunately. There was a challenge issued over Tik Tok for coast to coast school violence on today's date.

And my friends & family wonder why I'm always telling them not to send me TikTok videos because I won't even open them up. Why support the bad guys - that's a product of China that is intended, from things I've read, to disrupt American families & institutions, while gathering data on its users. I sincerely hope that whoever, or whatever group, is behind this latest "project" will be located and prosecuted.
