Hope you've all had a good evening! We have had ... I spent the late afternoon at Wal-Mart. Turned the Tahoe over to them for an oil change. It needed it. The Big Blue Dog's odometer reads 210,810 miles. While it was in the automotive shop, I wandered around the store and picked up some things like 2 more little plastic cubes for one last shelf; a wastebasket with a lid for the kitchen/dining room area; a few grocery items; and I guess that was all. Wal-Mart's grocery shelves were really pretty bare. They were out of milks, toilet paper & other paper products, crackers of all kinds, many types of potato chips; meats & poultry items were sketchy - depended on what you were looking for; they were almost totally out of fish. I picked up a Pizza Hut pizza for dinner, which was quick & easy. We're wrapping up the evening doing a little maintenance on my clothes closet. Leela woke me at 2 a.m. this morning - she heard a mouse. And I really think she did! Anyway, it must have been in my closet, although I'm not sure where it is right now. I've picked up the few items that were on the floor (tossed a couple of old purses ), and I'm about to go back in there and vacuum. Then, I'll put out the clean big doggy blankets that go in front of my closet door for Franny to sleep on tonight. She was pretty sad last night that her blankies were gone (in the wash - they weren't finished yet when I went to bed). See y'all tomorrow! edited to add: The wind has come up & it's really roaring. Edward helped me sort some items & we found a software disc he's been looking for. I decided to throw out my oldest pair of combat boots too - they are really worn out. I didn't vacuum & Franny is afraid of the wind, so she'll probably be happy to sleep on the big green blankets on the floor on the other side of the bed. I'm going to give each of the girls a calming chew & then we're going to bed for real.

Good morning! It's 45 degrees here this morning and expected to get up into the 60s this afternoon with rain likely later today. I made an early trip to the grocery store this morning. I didn't really need much, but we have a possibility of snow in the forecast for tomorrow night and Wednesday, so I wanted to get there before the bread-milk-toilet paper panic sets in. The forecast is only for a 40% chance of 1 to 3 inches with no significant accumulation on the roads, but that is usually enough to set people off around these parts like they never lived through a PA Winter before. The store was pretty well stocked compared to some of my other recent trips there. I was able to get a 3 lb bag of really nice oranges. That brings back childhood memories of how the church we went to back then always gave everyone in the congregation an orange and a little box of candy on the last Sunday before Christmas every year. for all needs today. Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning! It's currently 38 with a windchill of 28. That wind is still pretty strong out there. I haven't been out front yet, but I'm hoping this blows away most of the leaves in the front yard. Your comment on people act like they've never lived through a PA Winter before cracked me up. Oranges in the wintertime remind me of home. My brother and I usually got an apple, an orange, some ribbon candy, and a small gift or two in our stockings and then we had oranges in the house all the rest of the winter. My mother was a big believer in pushing vitamin C into us so we'd stay healthy. Hope y'all have a great Monday!

It was a good day around here. I got all kinds of work done. It didn't warm up much today; don't think it got above 50, if it quite reached that, but it is supposed to warm back up as the week goes on. Your church service was a good one, Mel. I had to laugh at a memory O Come, O Come Emanuel brought back. Our priest said one year that we were not going to add a verse a week throughout Advent, as was tradition, because Christmas would be over before we finished that song! He also picked up the pace because that song is slow as a dirge (I tend to like my favorite hymns played at a peppy speed so I agreed with the priest on that one! ). That's sad, on the one hand, that the one lady in your new members group passed away before the class was over, but - on the other hand - what a blessing to have been in that class and gone right onto heaven. I overdid it today, with this arm & shoulder, so I'm ache-y this evening. My family doc had a member of their team call me for more details this morning. She said she was calling for a referral. I hope to hear something tomorrow in that case, offering me an appointment. Trust me, I doubt I'll be going through any more drive-through lines till I get this fixed. Our December HOA meeting was this evening and I decided to skip it. I'm going to write a letter of resignation & either take it to the January meeting or send it to the President. I've been a ward rep for just over 4 years, and I've lost interest. Somebody else needs to take a turn, lol. We had a tasty box of Hamburger Helper for dinner. It's one I'd never heard of before - Deluxe Philly Cheese Steak. I added chopped onions & about half of a red bell pepper to it. Yum! Gonna add a couple boxes of that to the pantry! I hope you each and all are doing well. I am going to take these dogs outside & then go to bed, I'm so sleepy. I have to be in small claims court at 10 in the morning. I doubt any of the 5 we're evicting will show up, so it should go fast. I know a couple of them have already moved out. See you tomorrow!

‘Morning 39 degrees here Not a good rest night.
Thankful to have made blueberry pancakes early this morning though! ‘Had already cooked bacon the other day.
I have ingredients out to try a recipe for an apple cake.
Paperwork, bills & emails to tend to.
Messes to the right & left, all around the house! Sidetrack is my usual MO! lol
Yesterday, I had gotten decent rest Sunday night. Awoke and stayed on target, pretty much… Quiet time with my Abba Father, complete workout, including a walk, laundry, cleaned our bathroom & bedroom, put lights on a few little trees purchased for out the front door. Planted a few dead mums in the back yard, Phone calls,Shutterfly a little for a bunny book, etc.
So this am, laundry basket has more, KP needs to be done, bed not made as I may be climbing back in, all other rooms have my side track projects going on … clothes to pack (minimum as not a lot of room in truck), ornaments still waiting ( I want to get to the Dollar Store for window suction things to hang some on the windows), hall bathroom to clean, sunroom has photos etc all over & my laundry, la sigh
I’ll probably skip most of the chores and bake! Possibly Dollar store & tackle the paperwork mess just to put it away. lol
We tentatively head to Florida on Sunday, 12/12, to spend the night with my brother. He’s closer to the gulf coast (?)( about for us with my stops ,) 10 hours away. Then on Monday, we’d drive to St. Augustine, as DH is tentatively working in Jacksonville for the week. We’d drive back to visit my brother Friday overnight (about 5 hours with my having to stop) then head home on Saturday , 12/18.
Praying re upcoming travels & health issues.
Rant on: Also praying re overwhelming influx of requests for financial support especially at this time of year. The main places we do support during the year, church we attend, etc everyone is in dire need (if that is the right word), besides other places & stuff :-X
(Mel, curious if you’ve gotten any requests from the place that sends you frequent little “gifts”? )
Some of these places we’ve never contributed to and new ones keep coming in the mail, too!
I personally think if they’d use the money that they pay to send all the requests etc to help wherever and so forth … less papers that I’m not even gonna read etc
Rant off
Barb, May you get the referral you need in order to get seen sooner, praying for relief from the pain, too.
Group hug

Good morning! It is 29 degrees here this morning with a wind chill of 23 and a forecast high for today of 39. That's sad, on the one hand, that the one lady in your new members group passed away before the class was over, but - on the other hand - what a blessing to have been in that class and gone right onto heaven. She had been battling cancer for a long time. A day or so before she passed, the Pastor visited her and her husband in hospice for a private membership ceremony and gave her her membership certificate. (Mel, curious if you’ve gotten any requests from the place that sends you frequent little “gifts”? ) No, I haven't heard from them any more for about the last 6 months or so. I guess they finally gave up on getting any donations from me, but I have been getting a ridiculous number of fund raising requests lately from lots of other places including some that I've never heard of before. There have been a couple of days recently that my mail box was so full of that stuff that I had trouble getting the mail out of the box without ripping it. All of that fund raising stuff is wasted on me as I already know where I am going to be giving what little I can afford to give.

Good morning, all! It's 27 currently with a windchill of 24. It's predicted to barely reach 50 again today. Average for this time of year is 55, I think. Maybe 58. I have ingredients out to try a recipe for an apple cake. Paperwork, bills & emails to tend to. Messes to the right & left, all around the house! Sidetrack is my usual MO! lol I think you and I are really sisters in this "sidetrack is usual MO"! I always have too many projects going on, and I do get sidetracked pretty easily. Hope you let us know how that apple cake turns out when you have time to bake it. All of that fund raising stuff is wasted on me as I already know where I am going to be giving what little I can afford to give. Yep! I agree with you, Mel - I know the church and charities I'm giving to. And I agree with you, Jeanette - these organizations spend far too much $$ on advertising and mailing, and they should put more of that money into supporting their own causes. I quit donating to national organizations about 10 years ago when a member of our veterans' group send out a chart that showed how much money was going to pay top leadership and pay for advertising and then the actual amounts going to help the cause (people or project). The amounts that actually got to the people or project was usually pretty puny. Wounded Warriors and the Vietnam Veterans charity were 2 of the worst. It was so depressing. Well, gotta feed these doggos and get on with the day ... See y'all later! Hope your day is great!

I was out of the courthouse-everything signed by the judge, copies made by the clerk's office-within 30 minutes. None of those tenants showed up. I stopped at Whataburger for a cup of coffee & scanned their app. I had enough visits to earn a food reward, hehe. I'll treat Edward with the free food whenever it's convenient for him. And I got a call on my referral & they're going to get me scheduled for x-rays. It's been a great day already. later: I'm very fortunate to have help. I can't post "notices to vacate" w/1-1/2 hands. Might make more sense if I said, "I can't post them at waist level." I have to post these notices at eye level, more or less, on the apartments' front doors. It strikes me as a very medieval practice, but it's the way things are done here. That's part of my job as the one who does the evictions. I called Sweetie this afternoon & he picked me up. I had 3 Apts in 2 locations to post & then I treated him to a late lunch/early dinner @arby's.

Good morning! It was a chilly 29 degrees here this morning, but it looks like the snow that was in the forecast is going to miss us other than a few flurries in the air. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning ☀️ It’s 39 degrees here at 7:20 ish
Barb, I made the cake yesterday, as well as a Royal mess in the kitchen and cleaned up the kitchen while it baked.
Well it looked aok when I removed it from the oven after the timer went off… but it flopped! It sank in the middle and continued to do so, as I discovered after a short rest. It was mushy inside, although I did wolfed down a couple small pieces with Lactaid fat free milk LOL I microwave the 2nd piece, but that cake was thrown out.
Later It’s now 40 degrees at 8:40
I got sidetracked with hanging a few ornaments on the windows, when I went upstairs to try something on that arrived, and to deal with the washer & dryer …
Totally forgot to send the above lol

Howdy! I'm so sleepy. It's chilly and windy out this evening. It was a pretty afternoon & a little warmer than yesterday. My shoulder was x-rayed this afternoon. Yay! The x-ray technician is a middle-aged man with a good sense of humor. He had me twisting my hand and arm so he could see 'how bad' it was. He thinks x-raying my shoulder is a puny stop-gap measure to appease the insurance company. He thinks I need an MRI & said, "We'll see you back here soon!" with a big grin when walked me out the door. Heh, I'll go back if needed, no problem.
