Good afternoon!
So the other day, after the two appointments, I decided to mow. Front, sides and most of the back went well. However, towards the top of the back yard, after just thinking that DH had gotten stung (8 X’s) when he last mowed ... I didn’t see where that spot was, he had also filled the hole with foam wasp killer spray ... I was thankful that I hadn’t been stung ... well, while mowing, after passing what I thought was the spot, a nasty critter was inside the back of my work-boot, stinging me!
I couldn’t get that work boot untied fast enough, as I double knot it, and cussed, asked forgiveness, asked Jesus to help me ... plus trying to get the sock off as I’m hopping up to the patio, it had stunk me at least twice in the back of my right foot/ankle crease area! A challenging spot to see and treat!
I have “sting-kill” and was trying to get that open to apply, even was able to get a stinger out, but golly gee!
Anyway, I managed to finish mowing the other side, with 1 work boot on and 1 flip flop, put the mower away & stopped for the evening.
Nasty critters!
The next morning, Wednesday, I signed up for a class at the gym, as the stung parts were not swollen (usually happens because of infection from the stinger, for me), but the sock and sneakers rubbed on it, while working out. Ouch
Once home, I gingerly finished mowing the back, except for that spot where I think the yellow jackets may be awaiting their revenge on me!
Then I just went ahead and remowed the one part of the front, as dried clumps of grass/weeds were ugly, and ‘don’t need a letter from the HOA about that!
I figured I may as well use the leaf blower and get the leftover hay, again gingerly, off the back patio, get stuff out of the garage, as well as crumbs from the grands inside the auto. lol
Before heading inside, I moved some patio pavers that I had been using around flowers outside the front windows, as they are annoyingly in the way while mowing...
Therefore, once inside and sneakers & socks off, the stinger area was throbbing, swollen and all the other stuff that goes with being stung.
I stayed off my feet, most of the afternoon, watched “The Encounter” series, on PureFlix, as well as worked on last year’s vacation pictures in Shutterfly.
At one point, my legs, although elevated, began cramping/spasms horribly and I just had to keep calling on Jesus to help me ... massage tool, ice packs, immunity aid drink ... la sigh ... they finally stopped.
Praying re my biggest concern while flying or riding in an auto are these horrible leg cramps/spasms that have no rhythm or reason when they happen. I drink enough, all the necessary nutrients etc ... I personally think they are related to that there bladder mesh and stuff not align correctly that acts up at times re bathroom issues :-X
Anyway, although I walked with a friend today, I didn’t wear socks or sneakers, just flip flops. Afterwards, rested with legs elevated.
That stung area is still burning or whatever, and I have only 1 “sting-kill” left. I ordered more & the shipment will be here on Monday.
Grouphug & prayers for all you guys!

The bone is broken into five pieces. That's quite a break! How did you do that - fall down some stairs, or ...? That's just startling. I'm glad your surgery will occur soon. I'll be praying for you on a daily basis. (I do that anyway, brother. ) Just walking for exercise and tripped over my own clumsy feet. I had kind of let myself go and gained a fair amount of weight while not working so that I could take care of my parents these last two years, so I was trying to get back into a regular exercise routine to get back in shape again. Guess I've inherited the brittle bone problems that my mom and grandmother both had in their later years.

Just walking for exercise and tripped over my own clumsy feet. Oooh, I can relate to that! My last really active year in real estate, I took some bad falls. 'Probably' should have stopped by the nearest minor care clinic, which is on my way home, to have my right arm x-rayed, but I didn't. I have got to get back to the gym this summer - I haven't done any working out since the mask mandate went into effect last July. It's been over for a few months now and & I still haven't been back, tho' I know I'll be happier & healthier working out, and I kept my membership (because it's a really good deal). Well - no working water heater yet. But, dishwasher has a built-in heater, so I ran a load of dishes (yay!). I pretty much always do cold water washes, unless I'm washing bedding, or dog towels & dog blankets and then I'll use warm water ... so I can run a load of laundry this evening!

Yellow jackets, red hornets, yeh, they are all awful little beasts! Praying you recover before the weekend, Jeanette! Your leaf blower to clean crumbs out of the car is a great idea! That would be such a good thing to have around to blow dog hair out of the car after taking someone to the vet. The dogs always throw off hair so hard on a trip to the vet & back; it's a stress response. Don't think we've ever had any dogs like these two.

Barb, I was even wondering if the leaf blower would work inside the house ~ I’d problem break more stuff than it’s worth lol

Barb, I was even wondering if the leaf blower would work inside the house ~ I’d problem break more stuff than it’s worth lol That thought went through my mid too. Heh, at least we wouldn't be sucking up things with a leaf blower the way a vacuum cleaner will do. Our picnic was really good - we had some good grilled chicken breasts with a oil & herb rub. They also had thick sirloin burgers in an onion gravy - Edward ate one of those. The conversations around our table were good too - there were 3 retired guys (a Major, an LTC, and a full Colonel), Edward & me. We all shared Army stories, childhood stories, child-raising stories; talked about the local politics a little. It was a fun time. We hurried off to show our buddy a house after the picnic. Edward & I had each been in that house at different times over the past 10-12 years and we knew it had had some settling issues and some kind of swampy issue - I couldn't imagine it flooding, it's just below the crest of a small hill, & no stream nearby, but I seemed to remember the backyard was wet, kinda swampy. Well, I remembered correctly. Our friend was pretty disgusted with all the settling & decay in the house. He felt like he'd wasted our time but we assured him we'd been interested in seeing it after all these years. I sat out on the patio and watched the dogs play after we came home ... visited with the HOA President for awhile. It was really pleasant outside. I dragged the trashcart to the curb - hard to believe it's Friday already! (tomorrow morning, I mean - when the trashman comes) Well, I have just over 30 minutes to put away some laundry, toss some items in the dryer, and then watch the news before I go to bed. I am sleepy! Hope you're all doing well this evening!

Good morning. I had to go in to the hospital this morning for some tests in preparation for next week's surgery. Aside from the pain in my arm, I am feeling pretty good, but every little thing seems to tire me out so quickly. Poor May seems so puzzled that I have been sleeping downstairs in my recliner instead of going to bed these last few nights, but I don't want to risk rolling over in my sleep and injuring the arm more than it already is. Silly cat also seems to be very fascinated with the straps on my sling.

These dogs would at least be sleeping on the couch near me. The weather is a little nicer today - not so humid. At noon, it was only 94 with the humidity at 39% and the dewpoint in the mid-60s. It took some doing, but I finally have a claim filed with the home warranty company. Their website wouldn't let me access my account. Their call-in menu doesn't have an option to speak to a human. I had an alternate number & it got me to a human. There was a lot of static on the line, the guy coughed like he was dying of consumption or something, and while he sounded American, there seemed to be a time delay between my saying something and his receiving it on his end. I've already told Edward that I want to find a different home warranty company to switch to when this contract is up. He agrees.

I heard from the Dr about my test results. It seems that my vitamin D levels are critically low for some reason which may account for why my bone broke so badly. Also, my blood glucose level was very high well into the diabetic range.

It seems that my vitamin D levels are critically low for some reason which may account for why my bone broke so badly. That's too bad about your vitamin D levels. Did the doc tell you how much vitamin D to supplement with? I hope this isn't going to slow down your surgery. I was home by myself all afternoon. I got a lot of work done on re-arranging the pantry, a couple of drawers in my chest of drawers, and I moved around some things we need to store in a better place. I didn't get finished so I'm going to do a few more things this evening.

Did the doc tell you how much vitamin D to supplement with? I hope this isn't going to slow down your surgery. It is 1.5 MG in this prescription vitamin which doesn't sound like a lot at first glance, but over the counter Vitamin D is usually in MCG. 1.5MG = 1500 MCG. Most over the counter brands are either 25 or 50 MCG. Also, it is vitamin D2 rather than the D3 that is in most over the counter supplements.

Dr had me go back to the lab this morning to redo the blood glucose test since it was so high yesterday that he wanted to make sure that the first one was right.
It won't be too much of a shock if I do turn out to be diabetic now though. Both of my parents, three of my grandparents, and nearly all of my biological aunts and uncles were diabetic; and most of them were around the age I am now when they started having that problem.
Sharon was diabetic too for the last couple years of her life, but in her case it wasn't regular diabetes but a side effect of her cancer meds.

Looks like we are in for a really hot day here.
At 9AM we were already up to 83 degrees.
And thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon and evening.
