At 11 AM it is getting very white outside. Our Local weather report estimates that the snow will be coming down later this afternoon and evening at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour with a total accumulation of around 2 feet now expected by tomorrow morning. And Winter hasn't even officially started yet! Silly May seems to be absolutely in love with that Dreidel top. She acts like it is the best cat toy ever when I start it spinning.

May was celebrating Hanukkah with her version of the Dreidel game. Oh, that May! She's pretty entertaining!
Good morning, Mel! Good morning, Jeanette!
Leela is not 'honking' and she slept all night, so hopefully that means she's healing. You can tell she's medicated; she's not being her typical hyper self. I fed them each individual breakfasts this morning & it worked well. You can teach an old dog new tricks when their stomachs are involved.
Hanukkah ends Friday. We're planning to make baked potato latkes that afternoon.
That picture of Sadie, the lost Basset Hound who belongs to one of my facebook friends, that I posted in hopes it would help find her - well, it's been shared 22 times. I don't even know most of the people who are sharing that post - they're friends of his, I'm guessing. He didn't seem to know how to make his post public so it could be shared so I copied Sadie's photo and made the post on my timeline. He's an older guy, an Army vet - probably Viet Nam vet, but I don't know him personally. We have mutual friends & he sent me a friend request a year or so ago and I accepted. I really hope somebody finds that dog - you can tell he's pretty sad without her.

Lots of accidents being reported locally, and I've been hearing sirens every few minutes for the last hour or so.
Glad I can stay in today. Mom and I did everything that we needed to get done yesterday when the weather was so nice.
Only 94 days till Spring.

Kansas parents accidentally COOK their three Elf on the Shelf dolls after hiding them in the oven
A Kansas couple learned the hard way that their creativity with Elf on the Shelf could come back to burn them — and burn the elves, too.
Chelsea and Matt Hightower like to have fun staging their kids' Elf on the Shelf dolls during December, but their most recent plan for the toys left them with three very charred Santa's helpers.
The Overland Park couple left the three elves inside their oven one night and forgot about them in the morning — until Matt turned the oven on with the elves still inside.
Chelsea and Matt had three Elf on the Shelves dolls, one for each of their three kids: nine-year-old Braelon, six-year-old Mattilyn and four-year-old Quinlan.
The couple take turns setting up the elves every night, and recently Chelsea hid them in the fridge.
The next day, Matt put the trio of elves in the oven so 'they can get warm in there.'
He smudged a little black soot on their cheeks, wrapped them in paper towel blankets, and propped them on on the center rack around a toasted bun — and then went to bed.
Matt put the elves in the oven, along with a sign “It’s a lot toastier in here!” and then the two went to bed.
The next morning, Chelsea got up and went to Target — where she got a call from her husband.
'I knew something was wrong when he answers, "Babe…I feel really bad. I feel horrible. I cooked the elves,”' she told Fox News.
Matt had turned the oven on, forgetting that the elves were still inside. As the oven got hot, they began to melt.
In a photo the couple took, the elves' faces have turned into black, melted blobs, the whites of their outfits are seared, and two have fallen over on their sides.
'I had just bought our third elf last week,' Chelsea went on. 'I came up with this idea that [my kids] can each have their own elf one day when they grow up and have their own families.'

And in another of those new stories that leaves me just shaking my head in disbelief: OHSAA coronavirus rules: Students can wrestle, but can't shake handsCINCINNATI — As winter sports begin across Ohio, officials with the Ohio High School Athletic Association have released requirements for players and coaches amid the coronavirus pandemic. Wrestling began its season Thursday amid the pandemic under a new set of guidelines and rules to help prevent the spread of the virus. In a heavy-contact sport like wrestling, OHSAA officials are trying their best to implement rules for players and coaches. Among the new rules is student-athletes are permitted to wrestle, but must refrain from handshakes before and after the match. Wrestlers are also required to wear facial coverings off the mat when not actively competing or warming up. Equipment should not be shared. If equipment needs to be shared, OHSAA mandates the proper sanitation between use. Student-athletes must also sanitize their hands before and after warmups, at all timeouts and period breaks any time they leave the competition or practice mats. All those on the team bench also need to observe social distancing of 6 feet. www.wlwt.com/article/ohsaa-coronavirus-rules-students-can-wrestle-but-cant-shake-hands/34874133#

That's awful, about the elves on the shelf spending the night in the oven where they were forgotten the next morning. Really happy the Dad in the family realized what was going on before the oven caught fire. The whole thing is pretty funny since it ended well. edited to add: wrestling is basically going the same way here in Oklahoma. Just proves the virus is largely a "non-issue."

Scott, are you getting snowed under too? That's a whale of a storm - I watched coverage on the weather tonight. I nearly finished Christmas shopping this afternoon. Yay! We're having a low-key Christmas....we are giving each of the kids 1 small gift, plus excess office supplies that we will never use up without their help. That part was DS's idea, so Edward & I jumped at it. I'm tired tonight. The day was a mixed bag of people. I met w/Al, the former tenant who wants to rent MikeJ's apt. We worked out some details & I left him w/a set of new keys & a lease. I hope this is a good thing for him & me. Little Leela was better today. She started getting excited & wound up about going outside & it made her cough. She slowed down & seemed to make a conscious decision to calm down. Thats the only time I heard her cough today.

Good morning! Has the snow stopped coming down, Mel? I haven't seen any news yet to hear an update on that storm.
