I'd like to have a collection of plastic dinosaurs like these! Long day, cold & damp. I've done dishes, read, played with dogs, put away a lot of laundry ... Okay, are we done with coronavirus yet? I'm tired of this "schtuff", as my old army warrant Hooper would have said. Need to re-load the dishwasher & start it one more time today. I saved the pots & skillets for their own load.

I need to detox from facebook for a few days! Oh, my goodness - the things one finds there. Our governor declared a state of emergency this evening. So far, 8 cases confirmed in the state. The news is reporting the latest case was locally contracted in Oklahoma City, not by someone who had visited elsewhere & then come home to OKC. We'd hoped to go to OKC on Wednesday, but we've got to be sure the offices we were going to visit will be open before we go. Plus, we're in agreement that we're not driving up in the pouring rain - and right now, Friday looks like the only non-rain day. We'll have to wait & see what it is we really do.

I saw another version of that same meme this morning:

This afternoon, our Governor ordered a complete shutdown of all non essential businesses in the state until further notice. This is crazy. There are only a relatively few confirmed cases in the state and no deaths. And nearly all cases are limited to a just few counties. All that a shutdown on this scale is going to accomplish is to send people who are already needlessly panicking completely over the edge. One could almost think that those in power are actually trying to crash the economy and bring about chaos for some insane reason.

Now the Pennsylvania Fish & Game Commission has announced that this year's Trout Season (which is still more than a month away) is being cancelled due to Corona virus.

Police department urges residents who have run out of toilet paper to stop calling 911 An Oregon police department is dealing with an odd emergency of its own during the coronavirus outbreak: Too many people calling 911 because they’ve run out of toilet paper.
The Newport Police Department reminded local residents that there are more urgent issues than being short on toilet paper.
“It’s hard to believe that we even have to post this,” the department wrote on its Facebook page early Sunday morning. “Do not call 9-1-1 just because you ran out of toilet paper. You will survive without our assistance.”

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Y'know, given the current state of affairs in this country, being dressed like a storm trooper might be the safest way to get through the day, especially if you're around anyone.

Hi . . . How are y'all doing in this crazy setting? We are getting by okay. I'm watching the White House briefing at the moment. Personal opinion: Some of these state governors are not good leaders. They're over the top - sounding as if they're in a panic themselves, instead of looking at the big picture in their state & what they know of the people, the infected #'s, the state of health care in their state, all kinds of things, they're trying to shut down everything, control people without knowing the needs, and otherwise sticking their heads in the ground (c'mon, I'm being nice ). I like Governor Stitt's approach. He declared a state of emergency, and said, “Life as we know it will change for a little while but it doesn't have to shut down completely. Continue to find ways to support your local businesses,” Stitt said. “Pay attention to how you're feeling and make wise choices based on your risk.” He tweeted that he'll continue to take his family out to eat and they're not gonna live in fear. He encouraged Oklahomans to get on with their lives and not live in fear. Our mayor & city council held a special meeting at 6 p.m. last evening and a state of emergency for our city has been declared. They're not shutting down the town; they have set guidelines of gatherings <50; restaurants & bars will cut their occupancy rates in half and establish a guideline for social distancing within their establishments. New social distancing rules for the city bus lines. No businesses were told to shut down. It's been left up to the individual tribes to decide whether to close their casinos or not. The Chickasaws are closing their casinos. The Comanches, Kiowas and Apaches (in SW Oklahoma) announced this morning that they are staying open. They assured they are sanitizing all equipment and facilities regularly. It will be interesting to see how that goes. As of 11 o'clock this morning, Oklahoma only had 17 confirmed cases; none in our county (thank God!). We are going to an open house being held this afternoon by a real estate company that moved their office. It's a St Pat's Day theme, with some prizes for wearing green & entering their "guess how many gold coins in the pot" contest. I haven't heard they've canceled, but if they have, we'll just go on our way. It's cool & drizzly here, but I'm not complaining a bit - we have had torrential downpours predicted for days now, and the rainfall has been very slight. I'm a happy girl!

Hi . . . How are y'all doing in this crazy setting? We are getting by okay. We are hanging in there so far.
I agree with what you said about: Our leaders here in PA seem to be trying to raise incompetence to an art form to put it as nicely as I can.
I'm also thoroughly disgusted with the way the leadership of nearly all of the local churches including my own have cancelled all services for the next several weeks at least and suspended food banks and other ministries and services that many in the community have come depend upon in the name of not spreading the virus even though there have still been no cases in our county. Yet despite all that, they have set up web sites and social media posts to urge the congregation to continue sending in our tithes and offerings through online donations or postal mail.
In my opinion, this sort of crisis is exactly when the church should be reaching out to the public and becoming even more active in our community outreaches than usual, not hiding, trusting civil authorities to do the right thing, and hoping that the problems go away.
