Today's lunch: Tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions in Balsamic vinegar and black pepper:
I haven't seen poor May since I started chopping up the onions and she took one sniff and ran from the kitchen like her life depended on it.

And just when I think that my opinion of people can't get any lower, there are reports of people going into those few businesses that are still open and stealing the toilet paper from their restrooms.

It poured down rain and thunderstormed heavily for a couple of hours this afternoon. I was at the gym, happily increasing the weight amounts my abs can pull, and my quads can push when the mayor held a press conference to amend his emergency declaration. It's now in keeping with the CDC's guidelines. So as of 2 a.m. in the morning, all restaurants, coffeeshops, bars, taverns, clubs, theaters, gyms & exercise studios, and any athletic and recreational facilities are closed down. I can, and will, work out at home, but I need more weights (I don't own any kettle bells) and I'm really gonna miss 4 of the machines. And another major change: instead of this lasting 2 weeks, it's for 30 days.
Now, groups must be less than 10 people, and must practice social distancing. ... and this is where I think he overstepped his paygrade. He said, "All in-person gatherings with 10 or more people social, spiritual, and recreational are prohibited." <-- The mayor of this podunk town shutdown all churches in the area right there.
I'm not feeling angry or hateful, but I'm feeling a great sense of distrust toward basically anyone outside my family group. I think it will be a long time, if ever, that I am as open again with people as I have typically been in past times.
DS & L took the kids and went to her sister's family in northeastern part of the state. Grandson will be 16 tomorrow. They didn't sound like they really wanted to go over the weekend, but in light of all the changes now, I'm glad they went & they probably are too.
Restaurants will be allowed to provide drive-thru, carry-out, and delivery meals. We'll be cooking meals at home ... not likely to carry-out or do drive-thru runs. ...
See y'all in the morning, unless we meet in the air tonight! I love y'all.

I'm not feeling angry or hateful, but I'm feeling a great sense of distrust toward basically anyone outside my family group. I think it will be a long time, if ever, that I am as open again with people as I have typically been in past times.
My main feeling in all of this is just disappointment over how easily people in general have been manipulated by the media into a state of fear and panic.
I get that this virus has some unusual traits and poses a high risk to the elderly and those with certain preexisting conditions, and I agree that some degree of extra precautions may well be called for until we know more about how this so called pandemic is going to proceed, but I still think that the overall reaction so far has been totally blown out of all proportion given how the numbers of both infections and deaths compare to so many other similar illnesses.
I'm also rather disturbed by how most people have been so quick to simply accept what amounts to martial law in all but name in many places, even in places where there has been little or no incidence of the virus.
I'm also very disappointed by the way that the Church as a whole has simply caved in to pressure and closed up shop in so many places. This could have been the chance for the Church and related ministries to really shine and bring hope to the world as we have in past times of crisis.
When studying End Times prophecy, I used to wonder how so much of the world could be so totally controlled by the Antichrist's forces during the Tribulation Period, but now I can see how easy it will be for the Evil one and his allies to again control given the post Rapture panic and chaos which will certainly be much worse (and far more justified) than this current virus panic.
I'm going to get of my soapbox now and try to focus on more positive things for a while.

On a positive note: I stopped at the grocery store early this morning and although they still don't have any toilet paper or facial tissues in stock, there were a few packages of paper towels available. The canned goods aisle and the aisle where the pasta and rice are also had a better selection than I have seen for the last couple of weeks. Maybe the panic buying and hoarding is finally slowing down for a while.
Unfortunately, I forgot to check if eggs were back in stock, and that was the main thing that I had gone to the store for.

I made a quick stop at the grocery store early this morning to get the eggs that I forgot yesterday. The dairy section seems to be in pretty good shape again. There were fewer different brands than usual of both milk and eggs, but there was plenty of both on the shelves.
The canned goods section and the pasta and rice sections were back to being pretty well stocked with only a few empty spaces on the shelves.
The bread aisle was still pretty empty, but even in that section there was some variety of choices available.
The paper goods aisle is still mostly a barren wasteland but there was a little of both paper towels and toilet paper available, but still no facial tissues.
I didn't think to look at the aisles where they keep the hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. I don't buy hand sanitizer anyway as I have had a bad allergic reaction to it in the past. I'm just careful to wash my hands often with an antibacterial bar soap that was recommended by our family Dr.
