Our local school district as well as most of the surrounding districts have now announced that all schools will be closed for the next two weeks due to concerns over Corona virus.

Maria jumped on the toilet paper thing. I'm like, "seriously?" "Well, everybody else is doing it." Reminds me of what my ma (and probably yours) used to say. "If everybody was jumping off a bridge..." You know how that one goes!
edit to add: I told her that if she wanted to hoard something she should hoard a couple of 50 pound sacks of rice and beans just in case it gets like in Italy, entire country shut down. You might not think so but rice and beans isn't bad at all. If it doesn't come to that we'll never run out. That's funny, Scott ... "If everybody was jumping off a bridge ..." Edward said this afternoon that he suspects this rampage through the stores is as bad as it is at least due in part to peer pressure. The TV news & facebook have all these reports of "no toilet paper in stores" so it makes people think they should go "get theirs" before everything is all gone.
So did Maria find any toilet paper when she went to the store? And did she buy some rice & beans too?
I'm really glad I grocery shopped yesterday. Things were still pretty normal. Today ... all bets were off! The westside Wal-Mart's shelves looked like yours, basically, Mel. The toilet paper was totally cleaned off, the shelves across from t.p. included kleenex & I don't know what else, but those shelves were totally empty too. No bleach, & no hand sanitizer.
In the grocery section, the lunchmeat & hot dogs were nearly gone, as were the hot dog buns, hamburger buns, and all types of bread. Just not many of these items left. Rice - from little side dish instant rice mixes to the big 20 lb bags. All types of rice, all of the instant potato mixes, most spaghetti & macaroni, almost all mac & cheese mixes -- gone from the shelves. The dog food selections - dry, canned, treats & biscuits - those shelves looked ransacked & some things were all gone, like Milkbones. I did get a box of Ol' Roy Peanutbutter Dog Biscuits.

I'm not this far into my reading yet ... but a dear Christian lady posted this today on facebook and I think it's a pretty universal statement. View Attachment___________________________________________

Aww, I'm glad you're enjoying what we post, Jeanette. I'm not a big poster on Facebook, but I collect up memes and pictures I get a kick out of. Around here, we're not having people test positive for covid-19, at present, but as a preventive measure, almost everything that involves people gathering together is being shut down till the end of the month. Spring Break started today for Lawton Public Schools. The administration has said school will resume on the 23rd as scheduled, but who knows - that could change at any time. No idea how this will affect local businesses. No idea how long it will be before stores restock from this rampage. Stockers & supervisors at the commissary today were telling people that trucks are expected in tonight and over the weekend, so they're hopeful to have more stock. Edward & I are rolling with the punches. This is DS's weekend off. I'm hoping to visit with him awhile & maybe L too. I want to see how their pulse is beating.

Armed robbers steal hundreds of toilet paper rolls
Toilet rolls are currently in short supply in Hong Kong due to shortages caused by panic-buying during the coronavirus outbreak.
Knife wielding men robbed a delivery man outside a supermarket in the Mong Kok district, police said.
Police have arrested two men and recovered some of the stolen loo rolls, local media reports said.
The armed robbery took place in Mong Kok, a district of Hong Kong with a history of "triad" crime gangs, early on Monday.
According to local reports, the robbers had threatened a delivery worker who had unloaded rolls of toilet paper outside Wellcome Supermarket.
An Apple Daily report said that 600 toilet paper rolls, valued at around HKD1,695 ($218; £167), had been stolen.

I know - all bars cannot be considered bad, but so many of the people sitting inside them could better spend that time in other pursuits. I'll let it go at that.
I didn't go to the gym yesterday or today. Not that I'm staying away because of coronavirus, just because I've been busy doing other things & and couldn't get there at a reasonable time. I thought about going around 4:30 today, but I was cold & damp from the rain, and I needed to come home & change into leggings & workout shoes. When I got home, I threw up my hands & said "enough!" for today; sat down & talked with Sweetie for awhile.
Edward said he saw a meme on Facebook about how lonely it is at the gym these days, and it was pretty funny. I can't find it, tho' I did find a good article on how continuing to go to the gym is relatively safe. Here's the link if you're interested in checking it out. My goal is to get there in the morning, the earlier the better so I'd better go to bed.
Don't sweat it: Gyms are relatively safe during coronavirus outbreak, experts say

You know, that's not a very large number of rolls, nor a high value to have committed a crime that here would be called something 1st degree robbery (not burglary, but robbery because they held up a human at knife point). Probably some other charges too, such as assault with a dangerous weapon.
People are pretty out of control.

Good morning!
It is a cool but sunny morning here. This afternoon's temperature is expected to get up into the mid 60s.
Our local school district has announced that even though the schools are closed for the rest of the month, they will still be providing school lunches on week days on a "to go" basis. Apparently a food truck will be handing out bagged lunches in the school parking lot at designated times.
As if the panic over this virus situation wasn't ridiculous enough, some of my Catholic friends have started praying to St Corona for protection from the disease.

I was going to describe the scene that greeted us today (our normal groceries day)at the market but the descriptions y'all gave of your markets fit perfectly. No need to repeat.
Maria only bought 6 rolls of TP the other day, nothing out of the ordinary. Today there is none. I was able to get 10 pounds of rice and 15 pounds of pinto beans. That's all that was left! I don't anticipate having to use any of those. They're just in case. They last for years so it's no loss to store them.
