Good morning! 44 degrees and foggy. Finally, winter arrives today ... tomorrow will be the first full day. Hard to believe we're on a warming trend all the way through the week that starts tomorrow. Heading off to the gym. The trainer is probably heading out today to spend Christmas with her mom in Minnesota, but I'm not using that as an excuse to take a week off. She was giving us all a pep talk Thursday afternoon about finding time to work out "in spite of". Hope you each and all have a great Saturday!

Good morning!
It was 20 degrees here this morning, but by this afternoon it is supposed to be up to around 40, and then the next few days are predicted to get up into the 50s.
I stopped at the grocery store this morning to pick up a few things before the start of the last minute Christmas rush. I plan to avoid all stores now until after Christmas.

I the picture of the cats in winter, Mel. Hoping to stay out of the stores till the end of next week too. I have some coupons only good till Dec 31st that I want to use at the commissary, and that will be a good time to load up newspapers & water bottles to take to recycle on post, so I'm planning to go out there again around Dec. 27th or 28th. You're very talented, Mel! I like the way you started a new chat thread for winter. Happy Birthday to your DD#3, Jeanette. Hope her entire year is filled with joy! A couple of the gals I work out with during the week were at the gym & we had a good time talking & laughing. Sweetie & I are doing some sorting and clearing today. His back started slipping when we were out in the garage going through a couple of boxes. He's planning to sort through his closet this afternoon, but to be sure it is all standing work. I told him he's going to have to let me do the bending & reaching! He thought that was humorous, but also maybe a good idea. Hope you & your family are doing well, Scott!

And if anyone here celebrates it: Happy Hanukkah! (Starts at Sundown this evening)

We celebrate Hanukkah! We light the menorah each evening and have prayers - for family & friends, for our country, and for Israel. We'll make potato latkes tonight, and have some whitefish fillets with them (not gefilte fish, but along those lines ). We'll remember the Hanukkah story probably tomorrow at dinner, when we're not so busy cooking. I love the Hanukkah story, it's all about God's grace and mercy, and foreshadows the coming of Jesus. We had a great sermon from Dr Robert Jeffress this morning - all about 'who' were the Magi & how did they know the Savior had been born that they needed to find and worship? After all, the Magi were not Jews. Cell phone is acting up. I keep getting emails from our carrier with subject lines like, "Barb - You Qualify for a New Phone!" and, "Hurry In for a New Phone, Barb!" But I don't want a new phone until this Samsung Note 5 just flat quits. Of course, every time it acts up (which it's done off 'n on most of this year) I'm afraid it's rolling over and playing dead.

Pretty nice day, but not very warm.
Cannot hardly believe this is Sunday December 22, and Christmas Eve is Tuesday.

Good morning! We have an ice fog keeping us socked in this morning. Our cars are covered in heavy frost; the grass in the backyard is white with heavy frost. There have been a number of wrecks just north of us, and a couple of highways are closed, tho' I don't know the details (north or south lanes on interstate? how much of the state highway?). Good grief! Sounds like a good morning to stay inside. Watching the 8:30 news & Lawton still shows 0 visibility on the area map. The weatherman said you can only see a few feet at a time. I can see about halfway down the block, but that's not much. Plenty I can do around the house!

Bad Beavers Ahahahaha! Sweetie's back slipped when we were out puttering around in the garage on Saturday. He's headed off to the chiropractor now. The sun is finally shining brightly, burning off this fog! Curtis is one of my favorite comic strips, usually.

Don't think that I've ever seen the Curtis comic strip before, but that one was pretty good.

Baby Blues is one of our favorite comic strips. Our Sunday comics yesterday were all a little funnier than usual. Edward said hi back feels better, but it is still sore. He's really going to have to watch the bending & reaching business. I told him he needs to start using my talents a little more often. I've gotten much better at balancing and bending and reaching since I've been going to the gym.

We're having fun with Hanukkah. Tried a new recipe for potato latkes - but I substituted mashed cauliflower for half the potatoes (to reduce the carb load & be healthier). The resulting mix was delicious, but it didn't fry up well. We tried baking it, which the recipe owner said also works, and the flavor was really good, but it still didn't have the consistency of potato latkes I've made in the past. We ate most of it, but I think there's a little left that the dogs would like to have a taste.
