Good morning! It's 80, on the way to 106 this afternoon. At least we may have some wind this afternoon. I hope we do. Have fun at that cookout, Mel. I've put in a workorder this morning already on a non-working AC unit, and responded to a tenant who basically wants out of his 1-year lease. He's one of the uber-entitled crowd. My response to his whiny text message was that he signed a 1-year lease and if it wants out of it, he'll need to speak to Nita. Last time he spoke with her, he wished he were talking to me (text messages) because he thought he could get over on me. I'm thinking he should realize by this point that he's not getting over on either of us. Our office is closed today, but you know the 'convenience' of modern technology - Nita & I never really get away from the office as long as we have electronic devices at our fingertips. Hope everyone has a great day, on this unofficial end to summer!

Our official high today was 106. We're back down to 104 now. We had a homicide in the big park downtown before sunrise this morning. That's pretty tragic anytime, but in a small city like this one it hits people pretty hard. Everyone is waiting for more information. There's a huge grass fire in the next county to the south, probably started sometime in early afternoon. It's so big, homes are being evacuated and 14 fire departments are on the scene now. I've got a dish of ziti with ground beef, summer veggies, a natural tomato sauce, and a couple of Italian cheeses mixed up & almost ready to go in the oven for dinner. So how have you all been this afternoon?

The temperature here reached 99 this afternoon. Everyone had a good time at the cookout. There was lots of good food: hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, potato salad, corn on the cob, cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches. My sister-in-law who had the recent cancer surgery was there. Overall, she is recovering well.

Local news is reporting that the computer problems that shut down our schools for most of last week were the result of a ransomware attack.

Glad you had a good time at the picnic - and very happy to hear your SIL is recovering well from the cancer surgery, Mel. Yeh, that ransomware is such a problem. The city was hit with a ransomware attack a year or two ago. It seriously brought the water dept to a standstill.
