Luv, luv, luv those memes, Mel! I had a nice, peaceful evening at home going on, till tenants called to say one of the tenants we've given a 30-day notice to vacate to has a toilet that "just started overflowing", along with a "bathtub that is backing up" and they "can't shut off the shower" so "the tub's overflowing and the whole floor is wet everywhere." When did that start happening, I asked. Oh, it just started, just before they called me. Hmmm. Told them I'd see about getting a plumber over there. I told the gal I was speaking with that if there appears to be any vandalism to the plumbing, we're going to charge this to the tenant who lives in that apartment. Made all the appropriate calls, finally reached the plumber's son who called me back, knew exactly who I was talking about, & said they'd go over there. I asked for photos if they find anything that looks like intentional damage by the tenant. He agreed. I'm not mad - I'm disappointed, if anything, that the tenant we've told to move out would make a big mess like this. Yeh, the timing of the clog may be coincidental, but considering the women we're putting out were reportedly fighting with each other this afternoon, it's hard to believe plumbing problems that big just occurred all at once. Well, I'm gonna feed the dogs; rinse out some pots 'n pans; and go to bed. I won't turn on the do-not-disturb feature on my phone when I first go to bed, in case I need to respond to anything. (I just turned around and, lying on the floor right behind me, there's Milo Man right next to Franny so that their hind feet are touching - sort of a V shape. Our dogs have always gotten along well, but we've never had dogs quite this affectionate with each other as these 3 are. ) See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! It is 72 degrees and very cloudy here this morning with rain and thunderstorms likely later today. Our local school district is closed again today due to ongoing computer problems.

Good morning! It's 82 at 10:30 a.m. Humidity has dropped slightly, from 66% 3 hrs ago to 51%. May reach 96 today. I'd like to see the wind come up this afternoon. That would make it pretty pleasant to be outside. I'd planned to prep veggies for a ground beef & zucchini skillet recipe before I headed out the door, but doesn't look like I'll have time. Great mugs, Mel! And great gift ideas! We have small businesses going under here ... especially mom 'n pop small restaurants. They're open less hours; they can't find enough people to work; their suppliers have increased their prices as much as 30% in some cases. One restaurateur had a heart attack - only 56 years old. He has survived it, so far, but he's shut down his 3 sandwich shops in the tri-county area & apparently doesn't have plans to re-open. There aren't enough customers either because people can't afford to eat out. We did eat out this evening. Edward had the "Classic Chicken Fried Steak" special, which included 3 sides & a roll; I had a Spanish omelet, which included hash browns & Texas toast. We drank water. It totaled up to $19.xx, plus tip. Y'know, I could have cooked dinner for less, but we'd have not eaten very early because I'd have been starting from scratch on cooking at 7 p.m. Anyway, people around us were discussing these small businesses that have closed/are closing down here, and we're not sure if they're going to come back. Everyone was kinda gloomy. The restaurant isn't very big, and there weren't more than about a dozen people there. Anyway, I'm keeping an eye on the coverage of that hurricane, Idalia. Praying for the safety of my family & friends in Florida. I have a cousin on the east coast side who is not a Christian. She follows everyone & every idea the wind blows by, but cringes at the thought of learning more about Jesus Christ. I'm praying she especially comes through this hurricane okay - it doesn't look to be going to do much in her area, but I also hope something about it wakes her up and shakes her up, and shows her that knowing Jesus Christ is the only, and most important thing to do with whatever time she has remaining in her life. Good night, y'all!

Good morning! It's 72 at present, heading for a high of 95 this afternoon. It really felt "fall-ish" yesterdy, even if the temperature was about 93. It feels pretty nice outside this morning - kinda wishing I didn't have to go to work today. Yes, I have a list of things I'd do at home in this beautiful weather. We joked a lot yesterday afternoon about how crazy our tenants have been for the past couple of weeks. I reminded Nita we oughta load our pockets up with garlic today. She said, "Stun guns! We need stun guns - forget the garlic!" She said she just might stay home today and forward her office phone to my office phone. On an even odder note, we have an outright, self-declared witch running for city council. She's been a dedicated pagan for 55 years and claims to look to the universe for guidance. This has always been Church of Christ & Southern Baptist territory, although we've had a satanic cult here off 'n on for decades. I'm ramping up my prayers for this area, this small city, & all the elements of city government - elected, appointed, and hired. The council has made some real bone-headed moves over the past couple years that will cost us dearly for a couple of generations to come, quite likely. The latest being their involving this area in a cobalt refinery. God help us! Well, praying that if anything out of the ordinary happens for any of us, and our family & friends, today, that it's a really good thing. And all joking aside, I'm thanking God for all of His care and blessings!

I had lasagna for lunch.
That is the first that I've had that in quite some time.
It was really good, but I am too full.
I think that I need to take a nap.
