Happy to hear there was a good amount of groceries when you went to the store this morning. There may be a couple of handfuls of pecans still on the tree in our backyard. Just as we walked out the door, Leela saw a squirrel back by the fence so she went streaking toward it. No danger for the squirrel of course, he simply scurried up into the tree and disappeared among all those heavy branches. was a little disappointed. The artillery is firing pretty steadily, so I gave Fran & Leela each a calming chew and they've settled into the office near me for their morning nap. Later: We had a really nice dinner this evening. I baked a meatloaf; Edward boiled cabbage & we had it as a side dish. I heated up a can of cubed, diced beets & chopped some white onions to put in the middle of the dish of beets. That all went together so well. We've put out the garbage for tomorrow; the dishwasher is running. I promised the dogs I'd feed them dinner around 8:30-9:00. And now, I'm going back to this continuing ed stuff. See y'all tomorrow.

I needed this, this evening. I found it on the Sheridan Church page on facebook Jackson Lahmeyer, who is the Pastor, is also running for US Senator from Oklahoma.

Good morning! It is another chilly 50 degree morning here with a predicted high only around 60. I'll be glad when Daylight Saving time ends in a couple of weeks so that it is not so dark for so long in the morning.

long day. I'd like to go sit outside, but it's already dark. I worked as fast as I could go the first half of the day and completed 2 chapters on contract law. This is a pretty good course. I'm about to start working on the 3rd chapter with the goal of completing it before I go to bed tonight. I worked at the office for about 3 hours this afternoon. I filled out some eviction forms to file at the courthouse on Monday. I may feel sorry for some of our tenants, but the ones who are just daring someone to put them in jail (shooting guns around the apt complex; and threatening to ruin our careers as a way of scaring us into not collecting rents) - and those tenants I'd like to round up & let them cool their heels in a jail cell for a few days. Okay, y'all have a great Friday evening! See you tomorrow!

Good morning! I like Rubes The dogs can't figure out why I'm up so early - I've been awake since 5:30, but I'm not usually up that early. I went to bed early last night & zonked out, so I had plenty of sleep for a change. They've each had a dog biscuit, given me all kinds of attention, and now they've headed back to a dark bedroom to sleep. What a life! edited to add: Sweetie took Leela for a 4-block round trip walk. She nearly tripped him; she did escape her collar but he caught her & put it back on her. He doesn't think he'll try that again. She's remarkably strong, to be a small dog. She was super-overexcited when they came back. She ran around the house 'talking all about it', even went out in the back yard and ran around. She is now flopped over here half-in-the-closet with her head underneath the low shelf, and a suit bag that's hanging long enough to basically cover her eyes. She's out cold. I know - we should have walked her repeatedly from when she was 6 months old & now she'd walk well on a leash, so that's our fault. Not denying it. I thought she'd be excited to go, but that she'd walk - not bolt in every direction.

That cat will remember where he got that fish and he'll be back. We ran out to the PX this afternoon to see if they still have an appliance section among their vendors. They don't. I was disappointed. Oh well. We came home & fixed a burger each for dinner, along with a small can of vegetarian baked beans & a small tub of potato salad with deviled egg. That was yummy! Hope you're all doing well today. Absolutely beautiful weather here - up in the upper 80s.

It was cool and rainy here all day.
I don't think that the temperature ever got above 58.
We may have our first significant frost of the year tonight.

Good morning! It's in the upper 60s this morning, and feels 'stuffy' outside because the air isn't moving. Sun's coming out from behind the clouds so should be a pretty day. Did it frost in your locale overnight, Mel? I looked it up and our average 1st frost date is November 1st. I don't think that's going to happen this year though. Hope the guy comes to mow our front yard today. Have to wait & see when he gets here. Y'all have a blessed Sunday!

Good morning! It was really cloudy and dark this morning. The squirrels hadn't showed up for their breakfast yet by the time I left the house to go to church, but they were waiting for me when I got home. Did it frost in your locale overnight, Mel? I looked it up and our average 1st frost date is November 1st. I don't think that's going to happen this year though. No, no frost this time. The temperature didn't get quite as low as what was expected last night and there was steady rain and wind early this morning that wasn't in the forecast. It was 40 degrees this morning, and at 10:30 AM it is still only 49. Our high today isn't expected to get out of the 50s. At church this morning, Pastor Adam continued his sermon series on the book of 1 Samuel from where he left off two weeks ago. After church, I stopped at a little grocery store that is just up the road from the church on the way home to pick up a few things that I couldn't get the other day. It was pretty well stocked. Only one item on my list that I wasn't able to get. The Seasonal candy aisle was almost entirely out of Halloween candy, but they had lots of Christmas candy already. Last year, not many people around here did Trick-Or-Treat because of Covid and most of the stores were left with loads of unsold candy that they had to sell on clearance at a loss; so this year the stores didn't get in nearly as much as usual and people are buying it up like crazy. I guess a lot of kids will be getting chocolate Santas and marshmallow snowmen in their Halloween bags this year. Hope you are all having a great weekend and a blessed Sunday! 7 days to Halloween. 32 days to Thanksgiving. 62 days to Christmas.

The squirrels hadn't showed up for their breakfast yet by the time I left the house to go to church, but they were waiting for me when I got home. Those squirrels will probably be your best little buddies all the rest of the year. Animals know a good thing when they've got it. My guess is, so long as it's sugary sweet, they won't mind. There seems to be quite a few Halloween-related activities scheduled around town for kids this year. They had trick-or-treat in all these towns last year too, and lots of church carnivals, but I don't know that they were nearly as well attended as pre-covid. Our city is having trick-or-treat on Saturday evening. People complained so much that, as a concession, the city extended the time. It was supposed to be 6-8, but they've changed it to 6-9. We don't pass out candy; we haven't since we moved into this house, tho' we used to do it up big time with outside decorations and lots of candy available when we lived out in the mountains. I hope "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" will be on sometime this week. I always like to watch that. [I'm not into the whole Halloween thing any more. I've pretty much given up scary movies any time of the year.] We'll be hanging around the house, probably in the den (which is pretty secluded) with our chicken dogs, on the evening of the 30th. I will post my favorite Halloween meme on the 31st, so stay tuned! Things are going pretty well. I'm about to take the final exam on a course that has "Tech Tools" in the title. Heading for the finish line on this continuing ed stuff. I got an email from the state real estate commission this morning reminding me that I have 7 days to renew my license, and providing links to both upload any missing continuing ed certificates and to complete my license renewal.

I don't plan on giving out candy for Halloween Trick-or-treat night either, but I always keep a little extra candy on hand this time of year in case any friends or relatives with young kids stop in to visit around the holiday. Praying all goes well with your renewal.

Well, I made a 100% on that Tech Tools final exam. And then made a 100 on the first quiz of the Real Estate Investing course that I'm working on now. The investing course looked pitiful in the introduction, but Chapter 2 was pretty interesting, and there's no interaction in Chapter 3, just sit back and watch a video then take a quiz. Should be pleasant by comparison to some of the antics that have gone on in these courses. I took a break to feed the dogs & go pick up a couple of burgers & fries for Edward and me. The lawn mowing crew who came today did an wonderful job on our yard. This is probably the best it's looked this whole mowing season. This man is not my usual crew leader. Y'all have a good evening!
