One of my little bushy tailed friends from yesterday was looking in the kitchen window at me this morning. By the time I grabbed a handful of peanuts and walked to the back door, he was already there waiting for me. They learn fast where they can get a handout; although as quick as these little guys warmed up to me, I have a feeling that someone else in the area has already been feeding them.

Good afternoon,
Today I went with DD#3 & her 3 kiddos to Grandfather Mountain. So very windy & cold! We also stopped at different overlooks along the way to & from.
Interesting story about a 2nd road side place we stopped at on the way home. The first & third one were ok, but that 2nd one was shady :-X
I’m home & watering outside now.

Those squirrels have been around humans enough to at least not be too wary. Good afternoon, Today I went with DD#3 & her 3 kiddos to Grandfather Mountain. So very windy & cold! Sounds like a great trip, just unfortunate the weather wasn't better. Hope you can tell us that interesting story you mentioned. Been a great day here - I finished all kinds of work that needed doing but I was ready to call it an afternoon when I checked out about 2:30 & went to lunch with Sweetie. I have to run down the street & put in a For Rent sign ... Nita had a nice, high dollar house rented but the tenant found some way to buy a house so didn't need a rental. There's some kind of story to that, but the woman & I were texting & I've never met her so didn't want to pry.

Good morning! It was 43 degrees here this morning. I think that I may have started something. This morning, there were two of the little squirrels waiting at the back door for their breakfast.

You may keep those squirrels going this winter, Mel. Gray squirrels don't hibernate, tho' I've read they may sleep longer if it's pretty cold, and travel out of the area if there's a food shortage. It's warmer today. It was 39 degrees yesterday morning, but 54 this morning. The weather people are commenting today that we're having an "unseasonably warm" October. I didn't think it was unusually warm - I've lived here over 40 years and we've had a number of dry & hot Octobers in all that time. Y'all have a blessed day! :gropuhug

Y'know, I always wondered how Noah & family got the skunks to dry land. Hope you're all doing well! I attended a symposium on housing put on by the Ft. Sill Housing Directorate. The first half was boring, but the 2nd half was filled with lively discussion, re: the practical application of fair housing law to various protected classes, especially disabled persons and persons who have Assistance Animals. It was all very relevant to the local rental homes. I didn't eat lunch so I was pretty hungry by the time the symposium ended. I came straight home & fixed dinner: opened a can of beef chunks and heated them up; cooked up a pot of mashed potatoes, and offered some warmed up some green beans. That combination definitely hit the spot! I'm sleepy, but I'm going to drink some water and work on continuing ed for the rest of the evening. So how are you all?

Good morning! It is another chilly morning here, but not quite as cold as the last few. We might get up to 75 this afternoon. Some of my neighbors have already started turning on their outside Christmas lights the last few nights. My squirrel friends were outside the back door again this morning waiting for their breakfast. It still seems so strange to not have May underfoot whatever I am doing around the house. The house just seems too quiet. I've thought about going to the animal shelter to see what they have available in the way of young adult cats, but I'm not quite ready yet.

Mel , you’ll know when you’re ready, the squirrels are enjoying your undivided attention for now
Barb, the grands had a teacher conference workday.
No grands are being homeschooled any more. DD#4’s kiddos started public school with friends a week or so ago, out on the west coast area where they are living.
Cooler weather here, too.
Windows are open and fresh air going throughout the house! Along with everything else that triggers my allergies lol

Good afternoon! We went out this morning for breakfast at Jimmy's Egg. We had coupons they wouldn't honor, because they're privately owned & not corporate, so we shrugged, and simply ordered something else. It was tasty. We rarely go to Jimmy's Egg; it's inconveniently located & pricey. We stopped by Home Depot & talked with a sales rep in the appliances dept about our washer. She showed me on the computer that they have none in the store, none in the warehouse, and none scheduled for delivery to the warehouse. She said it's pretty unlikely our washer will be delivered on Oct 29th. She's wondering right along with us if it's setting on a cargo ship out in the ocean "somewhere". Interesting thing - that model of washer, of which they do have one on display, is now priced at $100 more than what we paid the last week of September. Those squirrels are surely happy they've met you, Mel! Yeh, I can relate to you missing May. We still feel that it's odd around the house to only have 2 dogs. We're both hoping the time will be right to get another dog one of these days. You'll know when you're ready to go look. Well ... Edward has a Dr's appointment and I'm going along so better shut down here. See y'all later - .

We stopped at Sam's Club, after Sweetie's Dr's appointment, and picked up a big bag of salmon & pea dog food. They seemed real happy to eat it, when we came home & put some in their dishes. While we were there, Sweetie suggested we have hot dogs for an early dinner. Those are some fat hot dogs! But we had a good time. I've been a Sam's Club member for 30 years this month. (I renewed my membership today.) Hope you're all doing well this evening. I may have found someone to mow my lawn ... since the young man who's mowed for us for 2 seasons seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. The new man will come over this weekend - he's marrying off his daughter on Friday. He sounded pretty excited about the wedding, so I wished him well. Okay ... back to studying. See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! It is a cool but sunny 50 degrees here this morning with a high of 76 forecast for this afternoon. The squirrels have had their breakfast bright and early and are now playing and chasing each other around my yard and the neighbor's yard. I'm off to run some errands to the bank and grocery store this morning. Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning! It's a chilly 51 degrees, and sunny. It's only supposed to reach 78 degrees this afternoon. Sounds like good weather in PA and Okla today, Mel. Those squirrels and these dogs should all enjoy the weather. Haven't seen any squirrels out back in the past couple of days. I think I'll take my coffee and walk out to check on the pecan and see if they've got all the nuts already. They were 3 of them running around out there last week. I went out after midnight last night to watch for meteors. Last night was predicted to be the peak of the Orionid meteor shower, but I didn't see any, and only stayed out about 15 minutes. Too chilly, and I was sleepy. Y'all have a great Thursday!

The grocery store was pretty well stocked for the most part this morning, but the paper goods are still in short supply and being limited to one per customer.
