Praying for you in all needs and concerns this morning, Mel. Wish we lived in the same town so I could come over & help you out in some good neighborly way.

Oh, Mel, I am so sorry about May passing away. She was such a delightful cat! I loved all of her antics - she was so smart! This is really sad! Mel, I’m so sorry for May’s passing. Praying for you right now Praying for you in all needs and concerns this morning, Mel. Wish we lived in the same town so I could come over & help you out in some good neighborly way. Thank you. I'll be OK. This is just such a shock, especially coming so soon after my parents both passing away so recently. May had been noticeably slowing down in recent months, but no more than what would be expected for a senior cat. A 10 year old Maine Coon (she was a Maine coon mix) is roughly equal to a person in their mid 60s. All day yesterday, she seemed extra affectionate wanting lots of petting and cuddles even more than usual. I think that maybe she knew it was time to go and was saying her goodbyes.

She may have known - animals are pretty intuitive. She was your IRL cat, but around PF she was our cyber cat ... kind of like having an office dog that goes home every night. Miss May will certainly never be forgotten. I'm glad you're going to be okay. You've certainly had a year of major losses.

Good afternoon! Trip to the laundromat went well. In fact, even after we have a washer again, I think I'll tote the big dog blankets down there to wash & dry because the commercial machines are built for those big blankets & comforters. A friend posted a meme about 'all those people at the laundromat, surfing on their latest IPhones, could buy a washer & dryer if they didn't think they needed a top of the line phone' ... and the comments got ugly from there - about how they could also buy milk & diapers for their babies, and they should all be questioned as to whether they voted, and did they vote for Biden, and are they happy now. I felt pushed off the ledge - and I said what I felt. The point was, everything is not always as it appears to be. In the midst of telling the crowd why I was at the laundromat today, I put in all caps: WHERE IS MY WASHER?!? And added that I want to know WHO'S TO BLAME?!? I flat said I voted for Trump, and I think we need a new Secy of Transportation, no matter where my washer is stranded. Can you believe it? Nobody has responded to my comments! I've just flat signed out of facebook - I need to cool down. That ^^^ bugged me the most, but we also have a family in our subdivision who seem to be trying to take over, and they're really bullying a guy in our subdivision's fb group. I have to stay out of that because I don't want to stir up any further trouble, tho' it was tough not to tell the husband to leave the guy alone that they were picking on. The cable box on the TV in the den went out, with a loud bang!, this afternoon. Scared me & the dogs! The TV still works, but the cable box is stuck on a particular channel. Edward plans to call the cable company on Monday & hopefully get a new box. I was watching a football game & sitting with the dogs, who were all upset because there was some test firing of a (probably) new round going on at Ft. Sill. It had to be on our side of post because it was such a deep, rolling "boom". They finally calmed down and went to sleep. And that's when we had our own "Boom!" in the den. Poor dogs!

I could really use some prayers this morning. May unexpectedly passed away in her sleep last night. She was only 10 years old. 10 to 12 years is the average life expectancy for the type of cat she was, but this was so sudden. I'm really going to miss that goofy little fur ball.
Oh no! It is so difficult when we lose our beloved pets. Praying for you!

Oh no! It is so difficult when we lose our beloved pets. Praying for you! Thank you. It seemed so strange all day today not having her following me around and watching everything that I did. Strangest of all, when I was eating it just didn't seem right that she wasn't there begging for her share of my food. Strange too that I was able to get my laundry done without having to remove the cat from the laundry basket multiple times.

We had a dinner that was out of my previous cooking experience. I baked cubes of extra firm tofu, marinated in a savory sauce. I also made a pan of friend rice that included cabbage, red radishes, asparagus, green peas, and green onions in another savory sauce. The recipe actually called for red bell pepper and snow peas, but I didn't have either so substituted the radishes and asparagus. It was so tasty, we both went back for seconds. Edward didn't think he'd like the tofu, and I wasn't sure if I would or not, but we both liked it. I think we'll make this one again. It is a little saltier than the way we typically eat, but I plan to drink a lot of water and make sure I don't eat much salt tomorrow. Good night, y'all! It's been a long day. I love you guys!

Good morning! It was a chilly 47 degrees here this morning, and our high for today is only expected to be around 60. At church this morning, Pastor Adam's sermon was about the 10 Plagues of Egypt from the Book of Exodus. Hope you all have a great day!

That looks like a great sermon. Thanks for posting the link, Mel- I'll watch it this evening.

Three young squirrels have been hanging out in my yard recently. I'm not sure where they are coming from as neither I nor any of my immediate neighbors have any trees large enough to be likely squirrel nesting sites. So after church, I went and bought a 3 pound bag of roasted peanuts in the shell and spent the afternoon feeding my new bushy tailed friends. They are so funny, that whole big bag of peanuts and they all want the same nut. It brought back a lot of memories of feeding squirrels with my Dad when I was a boy. At times, Dad actually got a few of them tame enough that they would come right up to him and take the nut from his hand.

When I went to the store for the peanuts, the shelves were stocked a little better than they have been the last few time in most departments, but the toilet paper and paper towel sections were still pretty much a wasteland.
On the other hand, they already have a pretty well stocked section of Christmas stuff. I bought a small jug of egg nog. We usually don't get that around here till mid November most years.

On the other hand, they already have a pretty well stocked section of Christmas stuff. I bought a small jug of egg nog. We usually don't get that around here till mid November most years. The primary milk producer in these parts is Hiland Dairy. Several years back, they began offering Halloween Egg Nog. I bought a quart of that last week. It usually stays in stock from early October till mid-January. It's really tasty egg nog. I'll have to ask DS if he buys it - he certainly drank his fair share as a boy growing up. I've spent the evening working on continuing ed classes. The first one was a 1-hour course that took nearly 3 hours, with quizzes and a final exam that contained a number of grammar, spelling, and botched selections to choose from. After acing the quizzes, I flunked the final - it was nothing like the quizzes, and nothing like the course notes. I retook the exam and passed, but I ranked them down on the survey, suggesting they do a major overhaul on that course and the course materials. I'm working on Fair Housing now. It's a 3-hour course, and - so far - it's much better written, and more fun to read. edited to add: Chapter 1 was really long, but had a fascinating amount of history in it. I'll take the quiz tomorrow & see how much of the material actually shows up on it. Lol See y'all in the morning!

Good morning! It's chilly again, but it is that time of year. It's really wet outside - we need wind and no rain for a couple of weeks. The squirrels have started working in earnest at gathering pecans off our tree out back. That tree set a good load of nuts kind of late in the season, but it had a couple of growth spurts through the spring and into summer. That's a great picture of your dad feeding that squirrel. We had a friend who fed the squirrels and made friends with them over a couple of years. They would set on the porch banister at his 2nd floor apartment and chatter if they wanted him to come out & feed them. We laughed at how he spoiled them! Well, y'all have a great Monday!
