Things went smoothly at the Lawyer's office. They have been really good about keeping me in the loop on everything that was being done both legally and financially since my parents' passing, so today was really just a formality. I just had to read over their report and sign off on it as the executor of Dad's will before they submit it to the probate court next week. The grocery store that I stopped at was very lightly stocked with lots of empty shelves, but I was able to get a few of the items that I couldn't get at my regular store on Tuesday. Edit to add: I'm not sure how it works in other states, but it seems that PA's laws regarding the paperwork involved in receiving an inheritance are rather complicated to the point of being almost silly. Since I am both the executor of my Dad's estate and I'm also his only surviving heir, I am required by the probate court to fill out and sign paperwork as the heir to formally request that the executor (also me) release my inheritance to me. I also have to fill out and sign other paperwork as the executor authorizing the estate to release the inheritance to myself. So basically, the lawyer has to draw up a legally binding contract between me and me and have me sign it as both parties to the contract once the court accepts and approves the report that we did today. And then in a few months, we get to do it all over again with Mom's estate.

So basically, the lawyer has to draw up a legally binding contract between me and me and have me sign it as both parties to the contract once the court accepts and approves the report that we did today. And then in a few months, we get to do it all over again with Mom's estate. You're making me think of a silent slapstick routine where you sit on one side of the table dressed like a 1920s business man, with a big stick-on mustache, and you sign the paperwork; then you jump up, run around the table and suddenly you're dressed like a farmer with a sprig of Johnson grass in your mouth, and you sign the other line on the paperwork. It's been a good day, but it's running out of time. We had rain before daybreak, and then a lot of fog this morning. I got out to Ft. Sill and signed up to consign items at the Thrift Shop. They gave me a small book & a bigger book with all of their rules in it so I'll know everything I need to know to do sell things efficiently. Not sure why I felt so out of my comfort zone, but I sure did. They let me go ahead and consign 4 college team hoodies. Neither of those ladies had a clue what those hoodies are - they're licensed and expensive. They're trendy, and college kids buy, collect, wear, hoard those things. 2 of the 4 might have never been worn even. All 4 look like new. I priced them about 1/4 of the new price. The one little lady told me she thinks I priced them too high. Then the 2 ladies ended up yelling at each other over whether I could drop the price in 30 days. I was happy to leave, tho' I really do want to consign more items, not so much clothing, but anything and everything else that might sell for better than yard sale prices. We'll see. Besides that, I grocery shopped. The commissary was almost as well stocked as pre-covid, but it doesn't have as wide a selection as it used to have. The place was full of people at 11:30 this morning, which surprised me. Prices are down on a number of items too - coffee, toilet paper & paper towels, some canned goods (canned meats, in particular). I picked up some of those items, even tho' not on my store list. We'll consume them, and getting them at a lower price is the icing on the cake! I also went to Wal-Mart & it was packed. The store had a sort of 'picked over' appearance, and there were spotty shortages and open shelf space. I was surprised there were so many soldiers (men & women) in uniform in each store. Does nobody work? Are there not normal duty hours any more? Mid-month payday is tomorrow so some may bank somewhere that offers early access to pay, When we started unloading groceries (I had taken the car because the Tahoe has no AC/defroster so can be tough to handle if it's a rainy/foggy day), I noticed the Tahoe had a slowly going flat tire. Edward aired it up for me and I raced off to a full service gas station and had the nail removed & the hole plugged. Finally, I'm going to load the dishwasher and run it, and that may be about the last thing I get done today, LOL. I hope you're all doing well!

Good morning! It is a somewhat chilly morning here, but we are forecast to get up to around 80 by this afternoon before dropping back down into the mid 40s again tonight.

Good morning! It's a bright sunny morning, 57 degrees with a windchill of 53. We're having a steady wind taking leaves off of trees. The wind is out of the north, so maybe it will blow some of our leaves down to our neighbor's house today. Tomorrow looks like it'll be a warming soup day.

Our new washer is now scheduled to arrive on October 29th. I'll be at the laundromat in the morning.

I took my car in to the garage today because the check engine light has been coming on intermittently lately. They say I need to replace the fuel injectors. That is covered by the warranty that I got when we replaced the engine last spring, but it could be a while before they can get the parts in. For now, the car is drivable, but I wouldn't want to take any long trips in it.

Hope y'all are having a great Friday night! It's high school football night & college football day tomorrow. It's only supposed to be 39-43 degrees in the morning. I stopped to check out one of the newer laundromats in town on my way home this evening, & discovered it's coinless. No instructions posted anywhere on how to get a card to use the machines. I was trying to get a woman to explain it to me - she looked pretty rough, and wasn't overly friendly. About that time, a very handsome tall young man who couldn't have been more than 22, walked up & handed me a card for the machines, said he was all through and there was about $8 left on the card and he wanted me to have it. I was shocked - told him I won't be back to do laundry until tomorrow morning. He said no problem, he didn't need it any more and I should go on & take it. I thanked him - profusely! The rough-looking woman snorted and hissed and slapped the machine that she was going to show me how to use. I happily came home. Technology has passed me by, folks - when I find out newer laundromats don't take cash any more - and I don't know how to get a card to use a machine. Mmm, boy, do I feel like a dinosaur! Well, I'll be happy to have clean clothes again. Hope y'all have a great evening. I'm going to cook up some rice to cool overnight in the fridge so I make it into fried rice tomorrow. See y'all tomorrow.

I usually only go to the laundry mat once or twice a year if I have a large load of rugs or such to wash. Most of the machines in our local laundry mat still take coins or Dollar bills, but a few have slots to take credit and debit cards.

I could really use some prayers this morning.
May unexpectedly passed away in her sleep last night.
She was only 10 years old.
10 to 12 years is the average life expectancy for the type of cat she was, but this was so sudden.
I'm really going to miss that goofy little fur ball.

Oh, Mel, I am so sorry about May passing away. She was such a delightful cat! I loved all of her antics - she was so smart! This is really sad!
