Another surprisingly chilly morning still in the low 40s. Not typical March weather for SW Oklahoma. So far it's been a wrap-up-things kind of day. Hoping I can stay on track this way till I have all of the paperwork on this work table sorted & filed. It's not really a fun project, it just needs doing. Praying for all here today.

The temp stayed about 10 degrees below normal today, & there was a lot of moisture in the air that added to the chill. Tomorrow is Friday, & it should be a warm, dry, windy day. Hope so. I want to grocery shop tomorrow. Amy has posted a number of articles on the cargo ship that's run aground in the Suez Canal & how it will snarl shipping for a few days. I thought I'd stock a little extra... Love y'all & see you tomorrow ~

Amy has posted a number of articles on the cargo ship that's run aground in the Suez Canal & how it will snarl shipping for a few days. One news story that I saw said that the canal blockage was causing losses of about $400 million per hour.
I've often seen 18 wheelers and other big trucks get stuck under low bridges or in narrow spaces where they couldn't swing wide enough to get turned around, but it never really occurred to be that ships could get stuck like that.

Hmmm, WD-40 could help! I can see a commercial for WD-40 in the future with a pitchman who says something like, "What do you do when you're enjoying a weekend of deep sea fishing and your boat runs aground in a channel? Don't fret! Watch what WD-40 can do for you, in just a few short hours!" I would have never thought something like this was possible. And have you read that it was a strong wind that blew the ship into this position? I don't know if I believe that any more than I believe strong winds pushed Biden down on the stairs up to AF 1. It will be interesting to see how long it really does take to free that ship and re-open the Canal.

It's up to 50 now, and it's beautiful outside. I was out back with the dogs just after 7:30 and it was chilly, but the sun was brilliant, there were drops of dew hanging off the tips of that beautiful dark green grass, and there was a fat blue jay flying from tree to tree. How anyone can step out into a scene like that and not believe in God, and believe that God Himself created this universe is beyond me (but I know some people like that).

I'll do that. We'll probably chat again on Sunday - it's Palm Sunday and one or the other of us will start a conversation about that.

It's up to 79 this afternoon, tho' expected to start falling back shortly. I drove through downtown to make a stop at the post office. It was amazing to see almost everyone walking on the street were wearing masks. Heh, if I were an attorney walking from the courthouse to my office 3 blocks away, that mask would come off as soon as I left the courthouse. If I were a sweet little old lady walking from the mall to the mom 'n pop restaurant across the street, that mask would be off the minute I walked out of the mall. There are a number of places that still require masks: Federal courthouse, County courthouse, and City Hall; and some of the shops across the street from the mall. The post office, however, has no 'mask required' sign any longer. I have never worn a mask in there to check our P.O. Box, so today was typical. I had to mask at the post commissary, naturally, but the Army is a whole other world, which I understand and don't mind. Even there, things are loosening up. Today it was announced that people are welcome to bring in their reusable grocery bags again. Many people prefer to use the self-checkout lanes and bag their own groceries in their own bags. Not me - I'll pile my groceries on the conveyor belt & let somebody else bag them up & carry them out to my car. There are some women who've worked there as baggers close to 20 yrs & I really like them. They do a good job and I tip them well. My favorite bagger, Julie, carried out my groceries today & I noticed she was double masked. I didn't comment, but I also refrained from ripping off my own mask until I'd tipped her, we'd said our good-byes and best wishes for Easter, and I was in the car alone. She's close to me in age; Asian - could be Thai, I've never asked her. Really, really hope things - people - relax & loosen up over the next couple of weeks. One thing that has me shaking my head is the number of people being interviewed on TV - everyday people, school teachers & coaches mostly, today - who are saying how relieved they are to have received both vaccinations because now they're immune from the virus. No, they're not - where are they getting that idea? Everything I've seen says 1) there's no guarantee you won't still catch the virus but the symptoms should be milder & you shouldn't need hospitalization and it's unlikely you'll die. And 2) there's no data to show you won't still be able to infect other people if you do come down with the virus and have an asymptomatic or mild case of it, which is why Fauci is saying people should still mask in groups. <-- Those 2 points are two of the many reasons I'm wondering what the vaccine's value is to anyone. /rant

Grocery shopping was fun. I'd told Edward to, "Wish me good hunting!" as I headed to the car this afternoon. He cracked up, yelled, "Bag a big one!" Prices were all over the place - some things have gone up in price; several oddball items were much less than usual. The fresh sushi was priced back to about 2015. Some canned goods were also much less than usual. I bought vegetarian baked beans for $1/can and some canned soup for almost 50 cents less than usual. The store was also out of odd items, like a lot of what they term 'gourmet items' but are actually foods various cultural groups enjoy - many British, German, and Asian items, plus some Hispanic foods. They had a truckload of t.p. and paper towels tho'. I had planned to go to Wal-Mart also, but I'd had enough of all that hoo-ha by the time I pulled out of the commissary parking lot so I went by Carl's Jr and picked up fish sandwiches and came home. We had a great late lunch - we split a container of California rolls (rice, avocado, & faux crab rolled up with some nori) after we polished off the fish sandwiches. It was great! I hadn't brought home anything from the sushi bar in a few years because it had gone up so much in price. We should be stocked up pretty well for awhile. Have y'all heard that Tonic Water - which has quinine in it - is a good thing to stock at home, in case you get the virus? Edward read that a few months back so I'd picked up some then (we don't drink, but when we did - he drank good wines and I drank beer; neither of us were into gin & tonic so having tonic water around the house was a new idea). I had the chance to buy a 6-pack today that had a coupon next to it for a dollar off. Couldn't pass that up! The cashier of the lane next to the lane I was checking out in - she didn't have a customer at the time. She was commenting to my cashier about various things I was purchasing. When the tonic water went by on the conveyor belt, she jumped on that. She started telling my cashier that she needs to stock some of that at her house because it has quinine, "and you know what that's good for!" My cashier had no idea but I'd walked up between them by then so I got in on the conversation. All 3 of us ended up laughing and telling stories from our younger days. I'll bet you both of them take some of that tonic "quinine!" water home with them when they get off work today. Well, I'm going to straighten up the kitchen and load the dishwasher. See y'all later! Hope you each are doing well this Friday night! I'm watching "Support Your Local Sheriff" too - it's one of my favorites.

I'm feeling a little bummed out today. When I got up this morning, I wanted to get a few things from the grocery store. Without thinking, I started to punch in my parents' phone number to see if Mom wanted anything from the store, and then it hit me.

At the store, the pet food aisle was almost empty on both dog and cat food, and they had signs hanging every few feet saying something to the effect that they are having supply chain issues with all of the major pet food suppliers and "please tell your furry friends that we are sorry".
May doesn't care, she just steals my food anyway.
