The mailman brought me an ad packet from Blue Cross-Blue Shield all about "Easing into Medicare". I've been 64 for exactly 1 week. Ever since I turned 50 a few years ago, I get at least one (and often several) mailings per week from AARP trying to get me to join.
I'm not old enough to qualify for their health insurance plans, I already have good life insurance, and as for most of the member discounts that they offer on restaurants, hotels, and such: I already get the same or better deals through my AAA membership.
I do like their magazine, but I'm not joining just for that. Besides, I already read my mom's copy when she is done with it.

I saw a good saying this morning: On St Patrick's Day, we're all a little bit Irish ... Except Italians, we're always Italian! I grew up in NE Ohio - there were lots of Italian people and the ones I knew would agree with that saying.
Sharon always made a big deal out of St Patrick's Day.
Her Grandparents on her mom's side actually were immigrants from Ireland

Praying for your Mom, Mel ... As for that stimulus check, I saw several lists on Facebook telling people what to do or not do with the money. Some media financial advisors were saying to go out & spend it to help the economy, while others said to pay bills and save some of it. It's amazing how people think when it comes to money.

They're too liberal - they pushed their membership to support Obamacare, which I think was a big disservice to their members. I used to read the magazine and the bulletin because my Mom was a member and I liked those.

As of this morning, my online bank page is showing the latest stimulus payment as being "in process" so it should be hitting my account by the end of the day and accessible by tomorrow.
My plans for the money is the same as for the first two: Keep it in the bank to help get my emergency fund built back up since my existing fund has taken a couple of bad hits recently between the furnace breaking down a month or so back and my car's recent engine problems.

I believe "science" is the most overused, inaccurately used, and - worst of all - , most overused inaccurately-used word of the past 3 years, at least. Maybe longer. Some days, I'll listen to someone tell me what the "science" says, and it's clear I'm not welcome to express an opinion, so by the time we part company, I feel like this: Attachment Deleted See y'all later. Later: Finally gutted my way through our homeowners insurance policy. The company had jumped the coverage amount up $20k, for some unknown reason. That skewed the coverage amounts & deductible amounts. But, there was a spreadsheet where we could change each variable & see the effects until we got it to something we made sense.

I went in to H&R Block this afternoon to get help with getting my Mom's taxes done. People complain about the IRS, but in my experience it is the State of PA's tax agency that makes things way too complicated when it comes to filing the final tax return for a deceased person, especially when there is a surviving spouse. Add in the fact that me being both POA for mom and also executor of Dad's estate is being treated as a conflict of interest and I'm about ready to go .

Good grief, what do accounting hacks think you're going to do, after all, the numbers are there in black & white - it's not like you can be hiding things, or diverting them. Dealing with the IRS or the State Tax Commission is such a .

You really tickled my funny bone with those blindfolded folks walking off the cliff following the "Science!" That's the best description I've seen of what's going on. Sweetie just left to show an investor client a couple of houses. It's really cold outside. We've been under a wind advisory since 7 a.m. this morning. It was supposed to end at 7 p.m. but it's been extended till 10 p.m. The windchill is 39. The big cottonwood in the front yard & both of the upside-down mulberry trees have pale green buds on them this afternoon.

Well, at 7 pm, it was 44 degrees, the windchill was 35, and the wind was still roaring. To celebrate St Patrick's Day, I made us each a Reuben Quesadilla, and Sweetie heated up a pot of sliced white potatoes mixed with sauerkraut & a handful of fennel seeds, and a second smaller pan of cut green beans. Great dinner! I think we're all done with celebrating for this March 17th.

Good evening fellow PF folks!
I’ve been here reading, laughing, praying ...
I’m frustrated & angry that the kool-aid drinkers and even those who are involved in mixing the kool-aid continue to be so prevalent & vocal everywhere. :-X
I’m thankful for this little oasis here with Barb, Mel, Scott, Amy ... praying for us all ...
