Good morning. It's in the high 60s here, but gloomy & breezy. We have storms forecast from tonight through Monday. I'm hoping your Mom is doing better, Mel. Well, I have to see what I can accomplish before the rain arrives today. See y'all later. Praying for all needs of our family and us today.

My Mom was moved from the hospital to the nursing home last night. I dropped off some of her clothes and a few other things that she needed from home this morning.
The nursing home is not allowing any visitors at all right now, but I did get to talk to her on the phone a couple of different times today. This evening she seemed to be in slightly better spirits than she has been for the last few days, but she is still really unhappy that I can't come in with her like I could at the hospital. I know that she is where she needs to be for now, but I'm feeling very depressed by the whole situation.
On a more positive note, after three weeks the garage has finally gotten in the parts that my car needs, so I should hopefully be able to get it back sometime tomorrow.
I think that May can tell that I'm feeling down, because she has been extra affectionate today.

I'm praying it's a decent place. One of these days, these lockdowns will end. Happy to hear you'll likely get your car back tomorrow! I'll be very happy when we get the Tahoe back on the road. As for May - God bless those wonderfully perceptive animals we have, for all of the love and affection they show us. Praying for you and for your Mom, Mel. DS stopped by to pay his cell phone bill a bit ago. He had his dog, Chewy, with him. Chewy is a little rescued shi-tzu. DS has had him a little over a year. They've had a flea outbreak & Chewy is suffering so he went to the groomer today. Atmospheric conditions are bothering the dogs - DS's and ours. I gave Leela & Fran each a "Calming" chew this morning, and it's helped. I gave DS one for Chewy right now, and another for the trip to NE Okla tomorrow. They're heading to the NE in the morning.

Chewy is a cutie. Thanks, Mel! We're supposed to have storms arrive just after 10 tonight. Hoping they fade away or go around us. I'd like to have calm, quiet, sleeping dogs all night. See y'all tomorrow. ...

Good morning! It is a chilly 28 degrees here this morning, but it is supposed to warm up into the mid 50s by this afternoon.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Not noon yet, but we're already up to 70 degrees, with lots of sunshine. No rain overnight, but we have potential of tornadoes this evening. Here's hoping y'all have a great weekend too! Your Guide to Setting Clocks Forward is great, Mel. I was thinking of clocks we actually need to change because they don't change themselves and your 'guide' popped into my mind.

This morning, our church had an all you can eat pancake breakfast to raise money for the youth group's Summer missions projects. After breakfast, one of the men from church was able to give me a ride in to the garage to pick up my car.
I hated to spend that much money to replace the engine, but the car only has about 100,000 miles on it and is in great shape otherwise. And as much as an engine replacement costs, it is still a whole lot cheaper than buying a new car.
Also, there just don't seem to be any decent used cars available anywhere around these parts right now without paying an arm and a leg for them.
At least the garage was able to find me a good used engine with only about 30,000 miles on it for about a quarter of what a brand new one would have cost and they gave me a really good warranty on it.
I also stopped by my Mom's house and turned all of her clocks forward so that I wouldn't forget to do it with everything else that we have going on right now.

Heh, that's great that the shop found you a good deal on an engine with not a lot of miles on it. I feel the same way about my Tahoe - it's a 2003 and I got a good price on it new, because the market was full then of vehicles they couldn't sell (and it was August '03 & the '04s were expected in). It has just over 209k miles on it at present. That radiator problem should be worth fixing - I'm hoping we take it to the garage before the end of this month. Certainly better than making car payments.

A space engineer made a working rotary cell phone:
I luv, luv, luv! that rotary cell phone! I'd be happy to have one, I think. I'd get used to it really fast. We had a big breakfast - a veggie-egg frittata with shredded mozzarella cheese. We had bacon to go with that, and a biscuit (not 2! ). We have half of that pan left, so we're going to heat that up in the oven for dinner, and heat up the leftover cheeseburger hamburger helper to go with it - maybe have some salad greens too. I'll make that frittata again, but cut the amount of ingredient in half.

Heh, that's great that the shop found you a good deal on an engine with not a lot of miles on it. Apparently, what happened to my old engine was that a seal of some sort blew out inside the engine and allowed the antifreeze to get into the oil and vice versa and made such a mess of the engine's insides that fixing it would have cost more than replacing it.
An engine is not a cheap component to replace, but it is the 10+ hours at $150/hr labor cost that really runs the bill up.

That sounds like quite a mess, definitely!

Good afternoon! It is a pleasant and sunny mid 50s day here.
When I talked with Mom on the phone this morning, she was doing OK, but she is feeling really homesick.
Today would have been my parents' 66th anniversary.
After church, I stopped at the local Rutter's store on the way home and got myself an Italian wrap and a couple of hot and spicy pickled eggs for an easy lunch.
I'll probably regret those spicy eggs later when my acid reflux kicks in, but they were delicious! One of the things that I like best about my church is the way that the leadership is not afraid to take on the controversial topics and to defend the Biblical World view. This morning, Pastor Adam's sermon was the first half of a two part message on the subject of Transgenderism and what the the Bible says about gender and sexuality.
I am also happy about the way that our church is handling the governor's ongoing mandatory mask mandates.
Of the three Sunday morning services that we have each week, the mask requirement is only being enforced in one of them for the benefit of high risk individuals who may wish to attend church in person, but in the other two services masks are optional.
In the service that I was at this morning, a few people chose to wear masks, but I would say that roughly 90% either did not wear them at all or only wore them until they were seated.
