I need to go over to the tax office later this morning to pay my school district property tax for the 2020/2021 school year. Our school tax is up almost 25% from what it was last year.
It looks like you should get a tax break, considering the schools have been closed a few months - y'know, pro-rate the bill.
Yeh, like that would ever happen, eh?
They probably "need" the money to pay for all the new safety precautions that have to be installed before the new school year.
Over the weekend I saw a story on the local news about how some of the school districts here in PA were purchasing literally miles of plexiglass sheeting to but up barriers between the rows of student desks in all of their classrooms.

Why not put the burden on parents to just wrap their kids in bubble wrap every morning and send them off to school? The more I hear about how we really are gaining herd immunity, and we'd be about on par with Sweden - if we hadn't locked down so much of the country. The doctor who was speaking Fox last night said we have about a month to go of allowing people to have freedom and we'll be there. His suggestion is that we all go back to living our lives. Heh, sounds real good to me! We're pretty loose here, but I have a HOA meeting coming up on Monday that's outdoors, but in a small space, so we must all mask. I love our HOA President dearly, and I understand he's in his 70s and his wife's health is poor ... and this is his decree. I'm thinking of wearing my Old West bandana because it might be the easiest to breathe through in the predicted "feels like" temps around 110. Plus, I can drink ice water under my bandana!

Y'know, all that kid needs is a mask! (Of course, I have no idea how he would manage an entire school day, looking like that.) Great workout! This restaurant is about 3 doors down from the gym so I pulled into a nearby parking lot & snapped a picture. Thought I'd share it, since it's Tuesday.

I've been cleaning up my cell phone - the contracts list, the photos, and the million texts I have no need of. .... the majority are old real estate contacts over the past 6 years. Hmmm, guess that means I've had this phone at least that long.

It's been a busy morning here. I took Dad to pay his property tax this morning and to run a couple of other quick errands to the bank and the grocery store. When we got back to my parents house, we had a late breakfast/early brunch and then got their yard mowed. After that I came home and am getting ready to mow my own yard. That's a lot to squeeze into one morning, but I wanted to try to get done before the record heat and thunder storms that we are forecast to have this afternoon. At 11:30 AM we are already at 92 degrees and 70% humidity, and the next few days are expected to be even hotter.

And Governor Wolf's mask madness continues to grow: The Pennsylvania Department of Education has announced that the Pennsylvania mandatory mask order will apply to all public schools and any child over the age of 2. Getting a whole room full of kindergartners or 1st graders to properly wear a face mask for several strait hours at a time and not touch their face should be about as easy as herding cats through a field of catnip.

Getting a whole room full of kindergartners or 1st graders to properly wear a face mask for several strait hours at a time and not touch their face should be about as easy as herding cats through a field of catnip. That's a great analogy! I hope I remember it so I can use it if things turn crazy here ... College football & in-person college classes are the big discussion at present. It sounds like people are determined the public schools will be in session, and parents by-golly mean it! Well, I'd probably have told Michael D that we are homeschooling effective right after the end of what was to be spring break, back in March, and that we would be doing that so long as this insanity continued. You've certainly been a busy man today, Mr Hawbaker! I hope the heat & thunderstorms do not cause you & your household, or your parents, any problems. We drove 2 towns south of here this morning to photograph a house for an out-of-state bank that is foreclosing on the owners. They had us go down there a couple of years ago & photograph it. It was occupied then & the bank thinks it still is. It isn't. It is apparently abandoned. I'm downloading photos for the bank officer and look forward to calling him in the a.m. Sweetie is napping & Leela is helping.
