Good morning, Jeanette, Mel, and Scott ~ Chilly morning here, feels like 46. Attachment Deleted There's rain to the west of us, but may fizzle out before it gets here, and rain to the south of us that may bring us showers this afternoon. Parts of this town had 3" over the past almost 36 hrs. I'm hoping it warms back up soon. I keep walking down the hall thinking I should turn the furnace up a degree - and then I stop and think, 'oh, yeh, it's only September' and I walk on past that thermostat. That airhorn is a great idea, Mel! The guy I blocked called again last evening, it went to voicemail, and he stayed on the phone letting it record nothing for a few minutes. I checked but couldn't find how to block a number from voicemail. If he persists, I'll call my carrier and see what I can find out.

SIL in LA says it was 121 degrees there a couple of days ago. I'll try not to complain when it's in the 90s here ever again.

I've stopped feeling like turning on the furnace, lol. I went grocery shopping this afternoon, quick trip and managed to get everything on the list but just barely. Canned dog food is in short supply. There is no Alpo, period. I know all of their cans are being branded with Purina over the Alpo name, but why have the shelves been empty for almost a month? There's not a lot of Pedigree available either. Not even much Wal-Mart's Ol' Roy brand. Admittedly, if it weren't for FaithyJ only having half her teeth, we could do without canned dogfood if we had to. I'm watching this situation closely - can't let my coony girl starve to death. We are watching the funniest game show ... Season 2 Finale is underway. It's Holey Moley, a putt-putt golf type game. Finalists are putting for $250,000. I'd like to be good enough to play this course!

Good night, Mel! It's pouring down tiny little raindrops. Hopefully we won't get much of this. Been outside with the dogs a couple of times since dinner. It's comfortable out there, but wet. Surprisingly, there's an amphibian croaking away tonight. Leela would like to find it, just because she thinks those little animals are fun to nudge with her nose so they'll jump. I swept floors this evening. Soaked Faithy's food dish & scrubbed it. She won't recognize it tomorrow. Also have a light load of dishes running in the dishwasher. We'll have a fresh coffee pot in the morning! (I only put it through the dishwasher a couple of times a month. ) Been a pretty good evening. I'm going to read for awhile. Love you guys!

Happy Friday! Wet & chilly this morning. Should start drying out this afternoon. All the rain we've had woke up an amphibian. He sang his little heart out part of the night. Leela was disappointed that it was so dark & wet at bedtime last night. She wanted to chase the amphibian.

Oh, Mel - you and your airhorns! I've been deep into sorting through some old folders of stuff I threw together & brought back from my parents house, years ago. Found a few things to keep, had some good laughs, threw away a lot of it. I ended up picking up a tub of GoJo hand cleaner - it had probably been set into this plastic container for lack of a better place to put it. I thought the stuff was a firm cream, and I expected it to be all dried up & hard. Ha! When I pulled off the lid, it was a thick liquid, and I slung it down the front of my shirt and onto the floor. Edward came home just in time to tell me GoJo is pretty close to liquid and when it gets warm, it gets thinner. Well, ok! I changed my shirt and cleaned up the mess. I think I'll keep it in the kitchen and use it to clean a number of things as time goes by. We'll see where all it applies. edited to add: Trust me, there's a lot left! I didn't sling too much out of the tub. Well, it's dinnertime and I'm hungry, so I'm snacking on a slice of aged Swiss cheese and I'm about to put together a batch of Mel's Tater Tot Casserole for dinner. Told Edward I'm going to surprise him with a new recipe that is great Friday night comfort food!

Good morning! Looks like we are in for a chilly rainy day here. It's so dark here this morning that I was actually up before lazy cat May.
One of my friends posted this on Facebook this morning, and I really had to laugh because it is so true of me:

9 out of 10 times, eh? Well, that's definitely me too. The fog had us socked in this morning, & it didn't really clear off till almost 11. It was chilly too but has since warmed up to about 70 degrees. These dogs have been shedding heavily for 3 weeks. I hope that's not an indication that we're going to have a really bad winter. A cousin & 2 of her young granddaughters called me this morning to ask for help with a history project the girls are doing. It's a 3rd grade class; the goal is to learn things about the history of their city. I didn't have answers, but I was immediately googling for info. The subject was the old school where I attended 7th & 8th grade. It had been the first high school in that township, but I didn't know it had previously been a high school. It was a fun phone call. I signed up on the website for the newspaper there - they have a free subscription permitting viewing of up to 5 articles a month. I may not be on the site once a month, but this way, I can be. The tater tot casserole was delicious last evening. I promised Edward I will make it once in awhile when the weather is chilly. We're having zucchini & 1-bean chili this evening for dinner. I'm watching college football. Iowa State is hosting Louisiana at Lafayette. 3rd quarter, Iowa State is up by 7. Up by 3 - I didn't realize the Ragin' Cajuns had kicked a field goal to end the 1st half. I'll watch college ball as long as they keep the social justice hoo-hah out of it.

Mel, is PA still locked down? Still have a mask mandate? There's talk of re-calling the mayor here, and his righthand councilman over the mask mandate. It will be interesting to see if that's successful.

Mel, is PA still locked down? Still have a mask mandate? Yes to both, and there is talk of the Governor again shutting down many of those churches, restaurants, and "nonessential" businesses that had been allowed to reopen on a limited basis over the Summer if there is even a slight spike in Covid cases this Fall. They are currently allowed to be open with either 25% or 50% capacity depending on the square footage of the building.
Edit to add: In case you didn't see it in the news a few days ago, our Governor Wolf is the recipient of this year's "Hubert H. Humphrey Award" from the American Political Science Association for the great job he has done running PA during the "pandemic".
