Hi, Scott! I can't get my computer monitor to come on. Pretty frustrating. Later -- posting from my PC at this time! Sweetie came in and figured out that the power cord was loose. He's a good man to have around! I cooked a couple of turkey thighs. They're cooling now. I'm going to pull the meat off the bones and tomorrow, I'll turn them into a small pan of turkey-spinach enchiladas with a sour cream dressing. I'll probably heat up a can of refried beans to go with that and we'll have some salsa and chips and call all that dinner. Gotta put out the trash and call in the dogs. Load the dishwasher while I'm at it and then I think I'll call it a night. This heat and humidity have been wearing me out. Hope you're all doing well! I love you guys!

Good morning š
this is the first morning Iām feeling recovered from traveling as I actually got 5 - 5 &1/2 hrs of rest/sleep.
Made DH coffee & breakfast, before he headed off to get the battery in the auto checked, as nothing worked yesterday. Praying it is just a battery.
Thankful it didnāt stop working while I drove last Saturday or Sunday as I didnāt have a phone to call DH or triple A then lol

... ... I'm working hard to watch/listen to the City Council's emergency meeting on passing a mandatory face mask ordinance. There's a lot of whining going on, and people not answering direct questions. Have any of you heard that the virus "aerosolizes" - ? I hadn't heard of that before. If it were true, they would not suggest people wear face shields. They would be encouraging people to wear goggles with no vapor holes to keep the virus from entering your eyes. Okay, I lasted exactly 20 min and it's still going on - blah! blah! nonsense! more gobbledygook! I had to change the channel. edited to add: I know what makes me so hostile. The inability of any of the people who should be able to discuss the medical effects of the virus; the inability of people at any level to intelligently and clearly discuss the infection level anywhere - this city, our county, across the entire state; the inability of those who should be able to answer questions about # of beds by type and # of medical staff by type to treat various levels of infection; and the inability of those to speak intelligently about any aspect of any possible plan to move our city's economy forward from here. I've worked in research fields most of my adult life - until I got into real estate. Everything we did involved a process, a protocol, a plan. We absolutely avoided mixing apples and oranges - that would have ended our employment in any study or field I've ever worked in. Avoiding confounding results was absolutely mandatory.

Nicer evening than afternoon. We decided to go out for dinner early. We were both hungry, and it's Friday. We slipped in under the wire for a late lunch at Tu Familia and had a steak with all the trimmings - refried beans, spanish rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, and a really tender steak. We each brought home about half our steak.
For breakfast tomorrow, we'll have steak, scrambled eggs, and sauteed onions & green chilis to go with that.
I took a late nap after we got home and that felt so good!
Hope you each and all have a great rest of the day and sleep well!

That heat wave over Pennsylvania looks awful, Mel! Hope you can pretty much stay inside & stay cool. The forecast here is for the high 90s over the next 2 weeks, and no rain. The humidity should be lower, which will be nice. Can't get in touch with the young man who has been mowing for us this summer. His phone is turned off, tho' apparently still working. I'm waiting for a call back from a neighbor teen. I left him a voice mail a couple minutes after 9 a.m. & he may have not been up yet.

After that I plan to go home, do my laundry, and stay in the house for the rest of the day.

On that doggy door - the Komahcheet's old German Shepherd, Buddy, is 'almost' too big to fit through the doggy doors at their house. He ducks his head, pulls in his shoulders & stoops down a bit, the delicately fits his front feet through & hops his back feet over the bottom ledge as out he goes. If those doors are ever re-done while I own that house, I want the next size up installed. Tahoe won't start today. I made a quick run for an onion to cut up with brunch (how did I forget onions?!?), and when I turned the key on the Tahoe, it went, "tik-tik-tik". I ran back inside & got the Focus key. Braum's had a nice big yellow onion for $0.49. Sweetie's going to look at the Tahoe while I go to the salon.

Y'all doing okay in this heat today? Thankfully, the humidity is lower than it has been for awhile. This haircut is so comfortable! The stylist took a good 4" off the bottom, and then 2-3" off the layers around my head. It feels so light now! Everybody has to wear a mask, and they do a temp check when you walk in. They took down my first and last name, which they've never done before. I know - contact tracing. There were 3 stylists at work - mine had front left chair; #2 had middle right chair; #3 had back left chair. Each cluster was more than 6' apart. I'm planning to go back around the 1st of September and let her color my hair for the winter.

We saw something that doesn't happen too often. One of the neighbors held an outdoor wedding just up the street from us. That's not unusual. The event was mobbed. They had a DJ and all of the usual potentially noisy stuff. What was unusual was how quiet and respectful of the neighbors they were. Come 11 PM it was over and by midnight all of the tents and other stuff was gone. You would never know it happened! See! Some people still know how to act decently.

Good morning! At 11 AM it is already 96 degrees. This afternoon's high is forecast to possibly reach 110.
The previous record high here for this date is 107 set in 1936.
