One of the health care people who spoke said we'll have to wear masks until there's a vaccine. Oh, yeh, these health care people are ganging up on city governments - there's a group similar to the one attending our city council meeting going after the mayor and council in Tulsa. That's how the guy phrased it too - "going after"

Our local school district released an updated version of their school reopening plan today.
A few of the highlights of the plan:
Some days lately, I'd like to run away and just live in a cave and leave society behind.
Maybe those old desert hermits and monks in the middle ages had the right idea.

I feel the same way - I'd like to head for that trailer in the desert and spend my days treasure hunting & picking up cans, which I've often said I was going to do.
That's good to see that the school system recognizes they need to keep all the kids in a family together. My grandkids are K (oldest) and L (2 younger).

That dog is precious! I'd love to see my dogs in a big tub that they'd fit in that way and see if they'd enjoy it. 2 of the 3 like to get in water - Fran swims, Leela just goes into her belly and then wiggles around to throw water up on her back.

Good morning! Another hot July day building up here. A little Leela story for you ... she's lived at our house for almost 6 years (since mid-October 2014), and she's still a sensitive little pup. The dogs & I went out back about 8:30 last night, and then I shut the doggy door because they acted like they were all ready for bed. I realized I needed a loaf of bread from the freezer, which is in the florida room. While I got it, Leela streaked out into the backyard one more time. I thought she'd streaked back in as I closed the freezer and headed back into the den. I shut & locked the door and went about my business. A little after 9 I started wondering where Leela was - FaithyJ was in her cubby to sleep, Franny was in the middle of the bedroom floor, but no Leela in sight. I went looking and found her sitting in the florida room with her nose at the doggy door, just slightly whimpering. That poor baby! If she'd barked, I'd have heard her right away, but she cried instead. I let her in and hugged her. She jumped all over me, then went to Edward and climbed up on him. He babied her too. I went to bed just before 10 and she was right there with me. She really needed assured that she was still loved - she laid right up against me till I fell asleep. That poor dog! I'm really happy we can give her a good home. btw, I had the best night's sleep last night that I've had in probably 3 weeks! I'm so thankful! Y'all have a great day!

Poor Leela! Maybe that doggie door needs a door bell.

Poor Leela! Maybe that doggie door needs a door bell. Y'know, that's not a bad idea! I used to leave the door from the den to the florida room unlatched after our last trip out back (usually after 10 or 11) and I'd shut the doggy door, and turn out lights. Houston D Hound Dog prided himself on being the last one to come inside. He'd strut all the way from the back fence and come inside. He'd simply push on the unlatched door and let himself in. It was really cute & funny to watch. I'd lock the door after that and we'd go to bed. After Houston passed, I taught Ge'dogg to push on the door and he picked right up on that idea, but he wasn't interested in being outside after the rest of us came inside. He'd lag behind, watching each of us, and then he and I usually came in together. He liked the feeling that he, as pack leader, had rounded up his pack and marshaled us all into the house for the night. I don't know what Fran, Faithy, and little Leela are going to end up doing. I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has announced he has tested positive for covid-19. He is the first governor to do so. He is now quarantining at home and holding Zoom meetings from there. Praying he has a mild case & makes a full recovery. Also praying his dear wife & their 6 children do not catch it from being around him.

In light of recent events, I added a new smiley to our collection. The code to use it is : mask - but leave out the space between the ":" and "mask".
Or you can click on it in the smiley menu in the reply screen.

I stopped at the grocery store this morning to get a few things, and they were selling disposable face masks 10 for $11. Probably the same type of disposables being sold at the commissary. They were 10 for something like $8.39. They're the blue paper/white inside w/elastic ear loops. Good thing about them: they fit Edward perfectly, so Mr. Anti-mask-to-the-nth-degree smiled and agreed he could wear that!
