Good morning! We had waves of t'storms roll through here last night, from 12:30 a.m. till 4 a.m. Didn't have much rain, but had 60 mph winds & spectacular lightning. Chicken dog Fran made it tough to sleep.
edited to add: Fantastic sermon this morning on God's perspective of government, and when it is okay to disobey the government. Cool breeze at 7 a.m., due to last night's storms, but the temp is creeping back toward 100 for this afternoon. I love 100 degree heat when the air is dry and the humidity is low, low, low. But in the humidity, like we've been having, ... It's almost making me wish for ...

Sweet cat! Well ... masking insanity may be coming to our county this week. I'm praying that doesn't happen. More to come in a minute - I need to get a piece of cheesecake. Sadly, our county's 8th covid-19-related death was a 13 yr old girl from the next small town west of here. She apparently was diagnosed as positive for covid-19 on Monday, and she passed away on Friday. I know no more than that, and that the other 6 members of her family are also infected. People on facebook are carrying on as if someone broke into the family's home and murdered the child in the middle of the night. I can understand complete strangers feeling shock at the young teen's death because our death rate is so low here, and she was young. I think the other 7 who have died were all over 75. I joined in on a facebook thread to pray for the 6 ill family members because I'm pretty much always available to pray for people. Nothing has been said of the 6 family members' ages, & if they're parents, kids, grandparents, nothing. What gets me is our mayor has already jumped up and assured the community that "there is a covid-19 item for discussion on the agenda" for the Tuesday night city council meeting. Our mayor strongly supports the idea of everyone wearing masks, but he said last week that he would go along with the governor's plan for not masking, & not closing businesses (he'd like to see bars closed down). The governor said last week that he will not interfere with any community government in the state that feels it's necessary to implement a masking order. Norman, OK - home to Oklahoma University - last week made masks mandatory everywhere when you're outside your home. You can practically see the handwriting on the wall - this guy is a goof to begin with, he was run out of the next county east of here for something about 4 yrs ago. People over there could not believe we elected him as mayor here. I still haven't heard what he did. I may have to play detective and do some research. He's working hard at insuring a spot in history as mayor here. Anyway, have to wait & see what happens at that council meeting. I have a HOA meeting tomorrow evening at 7, and masks for it are mandatory, even though it's being held outside in open air. I don't believe healthy people gain any benefit by masking.

It's been raining hard here this evening, but so far we haven't had any of the forecast thunder storms. I don't think that the temperature got much above 80 today, but the next five days are predicted to be back up in the high 90s again.

Our dogs would probably react like that cat - "no channel changing, it's Animal Planet!" We made a no-bake cheesecake, with blueberries & raspberries. I flat out don't like it - the crust doesn't taste as expected; the 'cheesecake' part is a waste of a pound of perfectly good creamcheese in my opinion. Edward and I sat here laughing about it a few minutes ago. He will probably eat another piece tomorrow but I'm done with it. Bleck! edited to add: That's a low-carb cheesecake, and I like the ingredients, they just didn't work well together. I'm going to brush my teeth and drink some cold water to see if I can get that taste out of my mouth.

Good morning! We had lots of rain and wind last night, but none of the predicted thunder storms. It is 65 degrees and foggy here this morning, but by this afternoon we are supposed to be back up into the extreme heat and humidity that we had most of last week. Praying for all needs today.

Good morning! Still under an excessive heat warning here for the afternoon. It's in the low 80s but heat index is 10 degrees warmer. May reach 103 this afternoon.
The 13-yr old who passed away had 2 autoimmune disorders. She's a military family member and the family is living in post housing. The state health dept plans to use contact tracing to notify anyone suspected of coming into contact with her. That's a sad situation, for sure. (not that it should change anything for the rest of the local population)
Praying in agreement for all needs here today.

Mm, boy, I have been stuffing envelopes for my HOA ward since about 8 o'clock this morning. Nearly finished. I think I need a nap! The mayor has won one. Masks will be required beginning Wednesday in any city owned facility. Maybe that will placate him. Later: It's really tough to watch a news report on the coronavirus because I have almost no confidence in anyone who is telling the news camera how bad it is. I only tuned in to check the weather.

It has been threatening to rain for several hours. We can hear distant thunder. I wish it would get on with it. It's too hot here. Most of Massachusetts is experiencing drought conditions except for the parts south and east of Boston, where we live. That's a nice change from the usual.

I am sooo sleepy! Our HOA meeting was a good one. Best one in the past 3 or 4 months. 2 of the major difficult people were unable to attend. Meeting was at the pool, and it was really hot out there. I think that's at least partly why I'm sleepy now since I came home, inside where the central AC is running. We threw out the remainder of the no-bake cheesecake. Edward told me put the recipe on PF, and hopefully somebody would make one. When they came back and posted that they didn't know what happened, but it just didn't turn out right, he thought I should reply, "Well, I don't know what you did! ", as if my cheesecake had turned out perfectly. I carried out the cheesecake in a medium bag with some other assorted trash. Everything else had already made it into a big bag that Edward carried to the cart when he came home this afternoon. He set the trash cart out at the curb around 6:30, which is way earlier than we usually get it out there. Well, Scott, did you get that rain?

Good morning!
Looks like we are in for a really hot and humid day here.

Good morning! Drizzley and humid this morning, but the wind has picked up. I'm hoping it blows all week long! We need it to blow this humidity out of here. Yeh, that Edward, he's a pretty quick wit. noon: A friend messaged me the neatest video this morning. A couple of guys are pulled up at a railroad crossing, probably in an SUV. As the train starts by, Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" song begins playing on the SUV's stereo. One of the guys walks up to the train crossing and begins attaching a Trump 2020 flag to the crossing arm. The train passes, the arm raises, the Trump flag flies in the breeze. The guy who attached grins as wide as he can, holds up 4 fingers, then he salutes and trots back to the SUV. I can't listen to Lee Greenwood's song without tearing up - brings back so many memories - so I cried and laughed both through that video. I've got to watch it again later to see how many fingers the guy actually held up, I'm not sure what was meant with that. Anyway, it was a quick break and I enjoyed it. I've edited photos for insurance renewal and sent them to my agent. Hope insurance is reasonable for the coming year. We're heading to the mountains this afternoon to repair that garbage disposal switch, we hope (and hope it doesn't take more than about 15 min). Off to city hall to pay a water bill next.

I'm "trying", trying hard, to watch this city council meeting. There are 10 local doctors, plus the state health dept director for 10 counties in this area, and the director of health at the county hospital. The push, of course, is going to be to mandatory masking. The idea is to keep the economy open, keep people working, get the kids back in school and they're telling us if we do 3 things, we'll accomplish all that ^^^. The 3 things, of course, are 1. Social Distancing; 2. Washing Your Hands; and 3. Wearing Masks. Oh, how I wish Amy (metroames) was watching this with me! I'd love to hear her take on it.
