Now that we are past Labor Day, I though that I would go ahead and start a new chat thread for Autumn.

I received a text from my one sister-in-law who had a bit of an experience during her drive home from the family cookout yesterday evening: Makes me wonder just how close she was following that truck. 🐄

I'll remember that story, for sure! I've been taking calls this morning from tenants who can't pay - some stories are more far-out than others (creative writing skills in action ). It's pretty humid this morning, but no rain to speak of. It's 87 at present, with a forecast high of 105. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

For my lunch today, I decided to order a pizza from a new Italian place that opened near here recently. It was really good, but I think that I will still stick with Papa John's and Pizza Hut as my go to pizza joints. Papa John's is easily my favorite pizza brand, but I do order from Pizza hut occasionally when they have a really good promotion going.

The weatherman said that our area reached 102 degrees this afternoon, although the highest that I personally saw on my thermometer here was 99. Our forecast is calling for more very hot temperatures for the next three days before more seasonably cool weather arrives over the weekend, and the middle of next week could be downright chilly. I'm seriously considering blocking (at least for the next few weeks) a few people on Facebook that are absolutely sure that the Rapture is going to be on the 23rd of this month because of some comet that is set to pass through the constellation of Virgo on that day which they think is the fulfillment of Revelation chapter 12. For the last two weeks, they have been flooding my Facebook feed with article after article pushing that idea even after they have been repeatedly asked to stop. These are mostly the same bunch that I complained about last year that insisted that it would absolutely be on one of the Jewish Fall feasts that year. Why can some people not get the concept of "no man knows the day or hour"? Edit to add: You can tell that Fall is near, because in the last few days I have also gotten my first few "Halloween is Evil" posts also.

Clearly, I am not in the same groups you are. Those people are some doozies. They don't get the concept of "no man knows the day or hour" because they don't want to get it. <-- I've become convinced of that. Edit to add: You can tell that Fall is near, because in the last few days I have also gotten my first few "Halloween is Evil" post sent to me also. Why, of course Halloween is Evil! But man, nobody needs to beat everyone they know about the head & shoulders with emails on the subject. I remember when DS was about 2 years old, and attending day care at the 1st Baptist Child Development Center. Some of those sweet little ladies were having a ball planning Halloween parties filled with acvities for many little kids, and many other sweet little ladies who were aghast at the idea of celebrating that day in any way. Somehow, the Assistant Director managed to keep them at arm's length from each other and all got to do what they each wanted without any fighting or hard feelings. I wondered if Miss Emma had some secret potion she put in their morning coffees - ?!? I didn't feel like either group convinced me to "join their side." And neither group hurt my young son's delight in attending church and working on following Jesus. If those "Halloween is Evil" folks could see that idea in action - it probably wouldn't change them one bit, but it would be nice if they at least endeavored to be quiet and pray.

It may be bad, but I am seriously tempted to buy a bunch of Happy Halloween greeting cards if I could find some at a really good price and send them to these folks (Unsigned with no return address of course) at the rate of one per day for the whole month of October. I probably won't really do it because of how much postage stamps cost now, but I really want to.

Mel, I was so busy chuckling over those poor people who are bombarding you with emails that I forgot to ask: What do they want? Do the date-setters want people to agree with them & sign some kind of pledges, or what? And the Halloween Haters - are they preaching to everyone on their email lists as to how, "You, Mr or Mz Addressee, had better skip Halloween in all its forms this year or you're going to h3ll!" Are they asking for donations to support their cause of spreading the word, or what? I'm so unskilled at harassing people that I can't think of approaches either group would be taking. edited to add: I'm cracking up at your idea of sending Halloween cards to that crowd throughout October, Mel. That would be fun to do! Oh, and that's a good looking pizza, by the way!

Are they asking for donations to support their cause of spreading the word, or what? For the most part, both the date setters and the anti-Halloween crowd seem to be motivated by the conviction that their positions are a salvation issue and anyone who disagrees with them is not a true follower of Jesus and must be shown the error of our ways before it is too late. But I am sure that at there are also at least a few of them who are just internet trolls who don't really believe in the views that they are pushing and are just looking to come into Christian discussion groups and pick fights just for the fun of making trouble. And some are just plain kooks.

My goodness! The trolls will get their just due someday; hopefully they'll find some enlightenment or discernment and see the error of their ways before they themselves are doomed. Those who see their causes as salvation issues need to get into some good Bible studies and drill down on Jesus' instructions to various people and groups, and studying Saul's conversion to Paul would be worthwhile too. John 10:27-29 also comes to mind. Whoever might actually be pulling their strings is really leading them astray. I know, ultimately, the devil is at the top of the string-pulling activities, but he's using some human(s) to lead these people off-target. Just my opinion.
