Good food ... slow service. My dogs might say that sometime. We spent a portion of the morning at the vet's office. Little Leela needed a heartworm test as she was out of meds. She's good to go - now has heartworm pills & a bravecto tab to prevent ticks & fleas. She's going to have a couple of growths removed next week. Hopefully they'll be benign & then she'll be all good to go for the rest of the year. Leela is a bundle of energy, and she's strong - our adventure with going to the vet took a lot of energy. I'm having a sandwich & chilling out with a cup of ooffee right now. Lots of brilliant sunshine this afternoon. 61 degrees. Hope you're all doing well this afternoon.

Since going vegetarian - or vegan - is part of how you know we're in the end times (don't have time to look up the scripture, buy you know what I mean, I'm sure y'all do), I was soooo tempted to post this in the Alt Meats thread below, but thought maybe in AG/ND would be better. The vet & I worked out feeding these hounds so as to get them down a few pounds (not sure Franny is over weight, but Ge'dogg is 4 lbs over, FaithyJ is 7 lbs over, and Leela - our little pudge girl - is 8 lbs over. I have to figure out how many calories we're feeding them now, and wean them down so their waistlines will show up. Being concerned about my own waistline, I'm heading the the gym next ... having dished out heartworm pills to all but Faith, and given them s hearty lunch (they missed breakfast because we didn't want to feed Leela before taking her for a car ride to the vet's). Later, gators!

In that meme, the world had come to an end ... nothing biblical, it's like a Mad Maxx style end of the world. Keith Richards & Betty White have both lived far longer than anyone would have ever expected (in real life), and wow!, they just happen to be the 2 lone survivors of whatever caused the destruction. Now, I don't know what the real story is here, if there is one, but it strikes me as funny because of the back parts I do know. Keith Richards was terribly jealous of Mick Jagger being knighted; and he's reportedly blown any chances he has of ever being knighted in the future. Betty White has won award after award after award - but not the Kennedy Center Honors. Many people think that's a terrible slight; I don't know if that's something Betty White aspires to, or not. Betty White & Keith Richards have occasionally been termed "the Immortals". There was a question on Reddit as to which of the Immortals would win if such a scene as is in that meme came to pass. Not sure 'why' Betty White is carrying Exalibur - Unless it's a poke at their ages, or the fact Richards wanted to be knighted, or what It struck me as funny because, in my opinion, all of this faux meat is leading us toward a scene like Soylent Green . . . It's a perfect setting for Soylent Green 2, and if "the Immortals" are all that's left - and there are probably a few more miserable humans remaining,of course, but they're only needed as supporting characters, then we're left with a great battle to be fought between Betty White & Keith Richards. We just need someone to write the movie script. If you were a person who mingled with survivalists & prepper people prior to the year 2000, like I did, and you ever heard the song "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" by R.E.M., or maybe read a book with a similar title (it's a good read - mostly oddball, light-hearted tidbits of history), and if you've seen SyFy movies like Mad Maxx, this meme probably fits into an end-of-the-world scenario and it's funny. That was my take on it - nothing serious or ominous, all humor. I told my mechanic buddy, who brought this to my attention, that I would put my money on Betty White to win. He thought that was funny - and told me about 50,000 other people who'd voted on this somewhere in cyberspace had also picked Betty White to win. . . . and I laughed about this all afternoon. Just chalk it up to my sense of humor.

Chilly and a little overcast this morning. The wind started roaring in the 40 mph range around 4 a.m. this morning. It woke me up so I got up; it woke up Ge'dogg too and scared him - he decided to pile up on the doggy blanket on the floor between the bed & the wall. There's a wide enough space to walk along there, but I'm sure he felt more secure there than up on the bed. Not going to warm up as much as previously forecast. Hope you all have a great day today!

Good morning! It is a reasonably pleasant 50 degree day here, but we have colder temperatures and rain in the forecast for this evening and tonight. Yesterday was my youngest great niece's 2nd birthday. I can hardly believe she is 2 already.
She loves dinosaurs, so she seems to have been absolutely delighted by her dinosaur cake.

Mel, In today’s mail, a guardian angel coin/medal & prayer to the angel arrived from CRS wanting money ! This is a first for us! Into the trash it goes, along with all enclosed stuff.

This past Sunday was DD#4’s 34th b-day! We were able to face time with her & her family! Thankful for technology to do so when folks live so far away.
Next week is my DH’s 65 th birthday, on 2/26. We’ll have kiddos in on Sunday & DD#4 is planning to face time when cake signing happens.
DH & I childcared 2 grands over the weekend. Ages 10 &8.
Friday I picked them up, then took them to DH’s job & he gave them a little tour plus ran a punch press machine that cut out parts & they were so interested in everything! Especially the “blue cloth paper towels” lol
Saturday, we went to Tiger World.
Sunday, church, store & picked up cookout for them. Grandson was thrilled to use a hatchet on a tree that had fallen in the greenway behind our house. (Under supervision & with safety glasses)
Monday, DH returned a fridge we had borrowed from DS, and these two grands were thrilled to go with Pop-Pop to meet DS’s turtles & see the habitat he had built for them, as well as meet his two cats!
I’ve finally made my appts for yearly stuff: physical, echocardiogram, and cardiologist. So confusing for me lol Technology is not my friend in this regard

Hi, Jeanette! Great to see you here! Your long weekend sounds like a lot of fun. I'm about to change shoes, grab my gloves & a bottle of water, and head off to the gym to work off some aggravation, before the sunsets. We had a late lunch/early dinner of white fish fillets. Sweetie turned his into a fish-on-rye sandwich, and I fixed mine up as a low-carb fish soft taco. We were so proud of ourselves. ... Slow day otherwise; we just couldn't seem to get started this morning. It's still cold & windy, but the sun is shining. See y'all later!

Mel, In today’s mail, a guardian angel coin/medal & prayer to the angel arrived from CRS wanting money ! This is a first for us! Into the trash it goes, along with all enclosed stuff. I've never understood the reasoning of Catholics and a few other Christian denominations for praying to angels and saints for their intercession with God when we have the privilege of praying to God directly.
For the last few years, I have been getting donation requests from CRS at a rate of about once a month. Usually the requests have one of those Angel medallions and a paper or card with a prayer to my guardian angel. Occasionally, they have other saint medals or "sacramental" items enclosed.
I have never sent them a donation, and I do not intend to ever do so, but their persistence amuses me.
To be fair, CRS is a legitimate charity that does a lot of genuinely good work on behalf of the poor in several 3rd word countries, but (with the exception of my Compassion International Sponsor Child) I prefer to do what little charitable giving that I can afford to do on the local level through organizations like my church's food bank and local homeless shelters. And even if I did ever decide to donate to a religiously based international charity group, I would not want it to be one that actively spreads the Catholic version of Christianity to the people it is working with.
There are plenty of other good missionary/charity organizations that work from an Evangelical Protestant worldview.
