I decided to wash the sheets and blankets off my bed this afternoon. May does make it a challenge to get the dirty sheets off and an even bigger challenge to get the clean ones back on. Edit to add: After I moved the sheets and pillowcases from the washing machine to the dryer and went to get the other pile of blankets to wash, this is what I found:
Awww, that is such a sweet photo! May probably considers those sheets to be "hers". Finding them on the floor makes it that much easier to nap on them. I'm sure Leela would do the same if I put the bedspread from the waterbed on the floor while I washed the sheets. I'm washing towels at the moment ... And then I need to run a dishwasher load of pots 'n pans.

I've never had a dog climb into the dishwasher the way this one has, but there's always been that one dog who has to stand on the dishwasher door while my back is turned to pick up something else to load. I'm really thankful no one has broken a door!

Good morning!
It's another cool breezy day here.
I was at my parents' house this morning, and the elementary school across the street from their place had a group of firefighters putting on a display for Fire Prevention Week. They staged a car accident in front of the school and demonstrated for the kids how they put out vehicle fires and rescued trapped passengers. We had a perfect view of the show from my parent's dining room window.

That sounds like a good fire dept. The demo on vehicle fires and rescuing trapped passengers would have been interesting. Did they use the jaws of life? I've never seen one of those.
Mild & windy here today. I've been going through boxes of paperwork, the most of which came from my parents' house and my late MIL's house. There was a whole insurance plastic folder from a major insurance company, all folded up. When I opened it, there was my late MIL's birth certificate; her parents' marriage license; her records from the Catholic church; her marriage license to each of her 2 husbands; 2nd husband's Army discharge paperwork after WWII. He was awarded 3 bronze stars! If I'd seen that before, I don't remember it. Wow!
I need to run to the store & pick up a cucumber so I can fix a salad to go with dinner, so gonna do that next. The cucumber needs to marinate in some lemon juice & olive oil so I need to get that in a dish and into the fridge.

The kids seemed impressed with the show. Our boys always enjoyed when the fire dept came during fire safety week in the fall, but that was 20+ years ago. I know they did not ever have a demonstration such as you described. Columbus Day is Monday. It may not be the most accurate holiday we have, but I am happy to see it hasn't been done away with. Sweetie was hungry, so I picked him up & we had a late lunch at the Asian Buffet. No cooking for me tonight. After that, I went to the commissary to pick up some produce. I have to put away these files on my desk that I'm keeping ... recycle & trash items have already gone where they needed to go. I want to put everything in the trash cart that I can so if it's raining tomorrow, or super windy, I won't be outside in it trying put out the trash. Sweetie's already said, "you know what to do: make it easy on yourself!" He gets a kick out of teasing me.

Wonder how long that cat would sit in that topless carrier? Poor kitty.

I rarely oversleep due to the four legged alarm clock.

Yes, if it were summertime, with bright daylight early in the morning, you can bet those four-legged friends would have been all over me, wanting to head out back. But, last night, Ge' woke me up at 12:30 because he wanted to go out back. And then just about 5, FaithyJ woke me up because she needed to go out then. I went right back to sleep both times, once everyone was settled back down & quiet. It was dark in the bedroom this morning - it's real overcast outside - & they were sleeping in right along with me. True friends! With Edward's help chopping vegetables (he chopped the cabbage), I've got a big crockpot of German soup cooking on the kitchen counter. It's really muggy out right now, but that front is supposed to come raging in here later today and drop the temperature about 25 degrees in a few minutes. That'll be interesting. It's up to 80 at the moment, the sun has come out so it will probably get up to the high 80s as forecast.

When I got up this morning at around 6AM the temperature here was 46, but it must have been colder earlier, because there was a lite coating of frost on my car. Right now at noon, it is up to 63 with a predicted high of 70 later this afternoon and then an overnight low tonight around 40. I'm ready for Spring.
