Yesterday, DH & some former co-workers rode together for a memorial gathering at the deceased guy’s favorite motorcycle shop. That's such a wonderful tribute to their friend. We've had two good friends pass away in the past two months. One was a WWII vet, 98 years old - he was Air Force, but sometime after the war he decided to come back in so joined the Army. He retired after 30+ years. The second was 85, retired Army; a Korean war vet. His wife had passed away about 4 yrs ago. He and his wife were great people. I know he had a rough time of it after his wife passed. I'll miss both of these guys a lot. Our Chapter of this Veterans' organization is really shrinking. Several of the guys who are now in their late-70s to early-80s are not getting around too well, and they really didn't expect this part of their lives to be this way. Our dogs seem to have had a ball this afternoon. The FEDEX man brought 2 boxes from Chewy! Milo Man was so excited, he tried to chew the corner off the bigger box. I opened the box and right there was one of his favorite canned foods - a case of Beef Stew for Ages 1-6. I put all the food away and fed him some beef stew for dinner. He was so tickled. Well, I have small claims court in the a.m. so I'm about to head to bed.

Good morning. At 8:50, its a steamy 80 degrees. Should reach at least 102 this afternoon. I'm sitting in the courtroom, waitingon this to get started. Our troublemaking tenant is here. Hope your eye appointment goes well this morning, Jeanette. Hope your day goes well, Mel.

Today's mail was chock full of ads for all kinds of fireworks even though those are not legal here other than small firecrackers and sparklers.

Fireworks aren't legal in this area either, Mel. We haven't had as many people shooting them off in our subdivision, these past couple of years - unlike the way residents & their guests fired them off nonstop in years past. The troubled tenant who came to court this morning actually behaved pretty well. I got her to agree to pay - and she can catch up her account around the first of the month when she gets her disability. So, we went before the judge, who quickly grasped the situation and signed off on the agreement. I gave the tenant a ride 'almost' to her apartment. She asked me to drop her off at Bootleggers, a liquor store. She needed to eat, and get some sleep, but she wanted some beer to go with that so she could celebrate not getting evicted. We easily got a default judgment against the one tenant who hadn't paid up nor come to court. Her neighbor told Nita last evening that the tenant had backed up a UHaul to the front door & loaded out her belongings on Saturday. Then she left her pit bull there when she drove off. That's a pretty vicious dog, but I didn't want it abandoned there at the duplex, suffering in this brutal heat! The judge signed the lockout order for the Sheriff's office, in case we needed it. I called one of our general contractors & he met me at that half of the duplex. I knew people had been in & out because the AC unit was running full blast & the trashcart had been moved to the street. I knocked on the front door and the pit bull went nuts barking. Next thing I knew, the black chow popped up at the other front window, also barking. Then a smaller blonde chow crowded in by the window and joined in. We could hear a 4th dog barking in the back of the house. I thought I heard a guy call the dogs away from the window, but I couldn't be sure. I was taking pictures. I really am happy those dogs looked to be in good shape - I was really afraid we were going to find a dead pitbull in a 100-degree + house. So the next hour was spent doing paperwork and filing it at the courthouse to cause the Sheriff's office to schedule the formal lockout. I carried the paperwork downstairs to the Sheriff's office, Civil Division, and put in a request that they schedule the lockout for early Friday morning. They already had one scheduled for 10 a.m. I asked if they could do 9 a.m. or even 8:30? The guy I was talking to, who I didn't know, looked surprised but he had a big grin on his face. He said he'd ask - and a deputy will call me in the morning. So, we'll see. I'm taking 5 days off, starting on Friday, but I want to go to that lockout if they'll schedule it early. Otherwise, Nita will do it. Well, gotta head to bed ... I am sleepy tonight. It's still 84 and feels like 90 outside. It's unbelievable how much moisture is in the air. See y'all tomorrow!

‘Morning Everyone
Temperature here at 6:35am is 66 degrees with an estimated high of 86 predicted.
All went well with the eye appointment. Thankful my cataracts are not where surgery needed yet.
‘Looking forward to perfect vision when 'home with Jesus! Meantime, watching & praying and living, maintaining … occupying here!
Since it was so early & there was a Marshall’s across the road, I spent some time in there! Found some clothes that fit & will work!
‘Got home, ate lunch & tried an idea I read in a cookbook re removing stains. It was supposed to be mainly for whites that have discolored underarms, but I decided to try it on a bunch of different colored t-shirts. It actually worked & didn’t make them ugly like bleach would have! Previously, I’ve used a store bought product, but that hadn’t worked.
‘Also played a game of Yahtzee with DH, cooked salmon, orzo & corn on the cob.
‘Around 7 pm we walked the greenway.
‘Chores afterwards: DH took care of the kitchen cleanup and I made the two guest room beds, after washing the sheets from DD#1 & granddaughter spending the night.
Today marks the 48th anniversary of us getting married! We did so after his basic training, in chapel 8 at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas!
This morning is both our physicals, early, too!
May you all have a blessed Wednesday.

Good morning! It's a bright sunny 89 with a heat index of 94. Not too bad this morning. It's supposed to go up to 108 today, with a heat index around 116. That's not a record high, however. 114 is the record. I missed the year that was set, but I don't think it's been that long ago. Happy Anniversary, Jeanette! Wishing you many more! Do you have plans for celebrating? Well ... hope everyone here has a blessed Wednesday.

‘Afternoon folks
Physicals went well, ate breakfast at Bob Evans afterwards. Home & got ourselves together, as well as baked goods to take to DH’s former place of employment.
We arrived, passed out baked goods, visited with folks & donated blood! Blessed the two workers in the blood mobile with some baked goods, also!
‘Left there after two, headed to pick up produce from SC & had some soft serve ice cream at the stand there. DH had strawberry & peach swirl & I had strawberry vanilla swirl.
We dropped off DD#3’s produce & some baked goods.
‘Headed home to relax now.

Our area is once again under a Red air quality alert due to the latest wave of smoke from the Canadian fires. People are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible today and tomorrow. That's terrible. You need some place to go to get away from this smog. Maybe home is it, but that would bug me before too long ... cabin fever.
