Had a wild experience in the kitchen this evening. I was just getting the first step of dinner started on top of the stove and suddenly, the heavy pottery pan I was using -- -- exploded! What a shocker! Fortunately, it didn't spread too far across the stove. It had 5 pieces of turkey bacon in it, and - of course - they weren't salvageable, even tho' they didn't appear to have many shards of material on them. I really thought that pan would be able to set on top of the gas range burner. It looked like something I "should have" been able to take outside & use to cook over an open fire, let alone use on the stove top. I was making a pan of seasoned shredded cabbage with some bacon and that was going to be a side dish to a couple of beautiful salmon fillets I was going to bake beside of it. I'm at least happy that pan failed on top of the stove vs failing in the oven. We had breakfast-for-dinner in the end. I fried a griddle full of bacon and whipped up scrambled eggs in my favorite skillet for scrambling eggs. Well, it's 11:15 so I'm heading to bed. Tomorrow is another day! Good night!

Good morning! Looks like it is going to be a cold day here with a high in the mid 30s Today would have been my parents' 68th wedding anniversary. Had a wild experience in the kitchen this evening. Good morning! It's 38 right now, with no wind - so it doesn't feel too bad outside. It might reach 50 this afternoon, but there's some rain in the forecast too so I'm not going to count on it warming up. Your parents certainly had a long marriage, Mel. My parents were married 53 years before my dad passed away in 2010. Mom's been gone 5 years this month. That pan was pretty loud when it burst into pieces on the stovetop last evening. I let out an involuntary yell and Edward hollered, "What happened?!?" and came on the double from the living room. I bought that pan at a going-out-of-business antique store late last summer. It didn't have a lid, but I figured that was okay. It also didn't have any markings on the bottom. I looked around on the internet and it looked like a dutch oven so I figured it would be okay on the stove or in the oven. I'd only used it a couple of times to make green chili enchiladas in the oven. After last night, I also wondered how old it might have been. I'm thankful nobody - people or pooches - got hurt. I think I'll look for a real Dutch oven that can go in the oven or on the stovetop. Just do it right with a new product. I'll fix the salmon & cabbage in a Pyrex skillet this evening - something I know can go on the stove & in the oven. See y'all later! My big project today is to do some new leases and have a couple of abandoned vehicles hauled off of the properties they're on.

That Pi day meme has me craving a real piece of cherry pie like my Mom used to make.

Great day underway, thankfully. My sourpuss office mate went home at 2 pm (her usual time). Yay! She doesn't like our side's tenants. Too low class for her high-brow tastes. Everybody needs a clean, affordable place to live. So she can just get over it. I get a lot more done when she's gone.

Strange weather here this afternoon. It is bright and sunny, but there are flakes of snow in the air. I'll bet that was beautiful! The rain clouds must have emptied themselves out - they certainly vaporized around 3 p.m. The sun has been out ever since and the temperature managed to climb to 57 degrees. It's been pretty nice outside for the past hour! I'm cooking up a batch of those salmon fillets with sauteed cabbage & bacon on the side. Keeping a close eye on the crockery! Certainly don't need a repeat of last night!

Facebook is too crass for me. I think I'll take some props next time I decide to run down through what's on my newsfeed. Earlier this evening I kept hiding posts and even snoozed a couple realtors for 30 days. Maybe I just need to stay off facebook. Yeh, that's probably what I should do for awhile. edited to add: PF here is sooo much more peaceful a locale. I love you guys!

Bwahahahahahaha Didn't think of holy water! But y'know, that might fry the computer, so maybe shouldn't use that. I have to remember to put a corned beef that it's in the freezer down in the fridge to thaw so I can put it in the crockpot for St Patrick's Day! If I put that here tonight, I'll think about doing it in the morning. (probably ) See y'all tomorrow!

‘Morning Everyone ~ Temp here at 6:30am is 29 degrees ~
We went & watched DD#3’s one young son play in his first baseball game last evening. The temperature was cold & very windy. I had layered on clothing, but still cold. I don’t know how the children were able to play without more layers of clothing on plus their hands looked cold, too.
May you all have a blessed day!

Good morning! It's 46 & feels like 40. Not too bad outside. I've been out with these hounds twice. We have a wind advisory from 10 a.m. this morning till 1:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. It may reach the high 60s this afternoon. There were 2 squirrels playing between the pine tree and the pecan tree this morning. They were having a ball taunting Milo & Leela. Leela knew there was no chance of catching either of them - and, at the age of 9, she rarely runs after them any more. However, something about those little critters this morning had her fired up. She chased the one around the pine tree and out the length of the side privacy fence & back. She was really stretching out those short little legs to run. Milo pretty much stayed between the 2 trees, along the back fence. When one or the other squirrel would jump from pine tree to pecan tree & back, Milo would stand up on his hindlegs and hop 2 or 3 times, as if he were going to jump up high enough to grab a squirrel. We finally all came back inside and all 3 dogs are back to sleep. Milo & Fran are curled up close enough to touch, here in the office floor. Leela's on the warm waterbed. I remember those early spring baseball games when the boys were in gradeschool, Jeanette. Fun - but often too cold to really enjoy, and sometimes the fields were too muddy for the kids to play a game. Can't hardly believe it's mid-March already! Those Ides of March memes are good ones, Mel.
