Good morning! It's 78 here at 8 a.m. It was terribly humid a couple hours ago, but there's a light breeze now so it doesn't feel so bad out there.
Gas was down to $4.19 last evening. Diesel was back down below $5/gal. Not sure what brought prices down, but I'm praying it comes down without hurtful machinations by the Pres. or Congress.
Y'all have a great day!

What's that old saying about, "speak of the devil & he'll appear" - ? I no more than sent work orders out & a tenant called me to rant & whine about needing something repaired that I had just work ordered. Wanted to know when it would be fixed? I just sent the request not 10 minutes before he called. He's one of those who wouldn't be happy if he had a castle & a million dollars.

He's one of those who wouldn't be happy if he had a castle & a million dollars. When I used to work part time in the snack bar at Walmart for a couple of years, there were a few of our regular customers who were like that. We used to joke that they would complain if their ice cream was served cold.

I'm feeling a bit foolish right now. I had my first experience of phantom limb sensation while wearing my prosthetic. Without thinking, I actually reached down and tried to scratch the itch on my ankle before I remembered that my ankle is now made of metal.

‘Just listened to a song “Goodness of God” Jenn Johnson
‘Evening Mel, Barb & anyone else stopping by
So here I am on my last night of bunny sitting, house & pool as a side gig lol
I placed an order for Amazon, this past Sunday, which was supposed to be delivered next week, well packages started being delivered Tuesday night, Wednesday night, today & probably tonight! I’m not going there and a neighbor checking, hadn’t seen the first one … I’m not gonna keep texting nor drive there to check … as I head home tomorrow
It’s about 50 - 55 mins away, traffic etc
So I took this up with the Lord, either another neighbor is taking them in or they are taken by other people … I’ll deal with Amazon packages when I get home tomorrow.
Now it’s pouring and it wasn’t supposed to rain, so I watered DD#2’s plants and put more water into their pool.
On one hand, it’s been nice being here, not watching tv, reading, petting & taking care of Mr. Blizzard, listening to podcasts from dr. Jeremiah, Ann Graham Lotz, and Cissie Graham Lynch, learning some things, swimming laps in their pool … resting & sleeping …
on the other hand, I broke a blind & told DD#2, of course no worries as thankfully blind people will replace the slat…
I’m kind of being overly careful with someone else’s home & pet, so of course looking forward to getting home & bed lol

I'm feeling a bit foolish right now. I had my first experience of phantom limb sensation while wearing my prosthetic. Without thinking, I actually reached down and tried to scratch the itch on my ankle before I remembered that my ankle is now made of metal. Try not to be too hard on yourself, Mel. I hope you get all of your Amazon packages when you get home, Jeanette. We don't order much and I'm always happy when whatever it is comes & I can bring it inside. We have had a lot of porch pirates in this town over the past few years. We get a box from Chewy.com every couple of months, but that's about all. We had an old-fashioned dinner, dating back to the late 60s, probably. Did y'all eat LaChoy chow mein when you were kids or teens, or even in the early days of your 20s? Somehow, it came up in conversation a couple of weeks ago. Edward suggested I get a can, and some noodles. I had to look for it - back in the early 80s, it was a dominant item in the Asian food section of the commissary, but not in the enlightened new age of today. But this is it: It's not bad, it's just not good. It's pretty bland. Neither of us had eaten this in probably 35-40 years. I promised Edward I'll try making us a fresh ingredients batch of chow mein in the next few weeks, see if I can make it a little more savory. We'll see how that turns out. We reached a high of 102 today. Supposed to be 104 tomorrow. I stayed inside after I got to the office from small claims court. Oh, the weatherman just said it will be 104 on Saturday for a high, with a high on Sunday of only 88. He's calling it "a rare late-June cold front. Gonna walk these dogs out back and then go to bed. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning! It looks like it is going to be a hot humid day here. At 6:30 AM it is already nearly 80 degrees with 90% humidity I'd forgotten about those La Choy meals. Sharon and I used to eat a lot of those in the early days of our marriage. It's been ages since I've seen them in any of our local grocery stores. Of course, I haven't actually looked for them recently either since we have had many really good Chinese and Asian restaurants in the area in recent years.

I remember those La Choy meals! I used to make a recipe that DH’s mom had given me, too. Eventually ‘just stopped, I didn’t like all the prep & life got very busy with kiddos! lol

Good morning! It's 92 at present, and the humidity is only 34%. That should make for a pretty comfortable day, even tho' at 100+. I'm hopeful. My late-dh and I ate our share of those La Choy meals back in the early 80s, but I know I hadn't one in 35-40 yrs till last evening. My late-MIL used to make chop suey and it had a lot of steps to it, and not a lot of flavor so I ate it because she made it, but I didn't ask for her recipe. Hope y'all have a great day! I'm heading off to a Section 8 inspection for a lady who we hope we get into an apt on the first try. See y'all later!

Thankful to be home from bunny sitting.
Thankful DD#2 & DD#3 plus their families, both arrived safely home from their vacations to the beach. Thankful DD#3’s first born turned 11 on Friday, too!
Thankful DH had safe travels to & from Georgia this week.
Thankful all Amazon packages - that arrived while I was gone - were put in by our neighbor.
Funny story: I arrived home right behind DH, he’s trying to close the garage door and I’m trying to open it. Three times, he using the remote to close it, thinking “great, it’s broken!” Three times, I’m pushing the remote in the auto to open it! lol he finally figured out I was in the driveway!
Thankful DH & I went to a little hole in the wall Italian pizza+ place, after we unloaded the auto. We were both hungry, and I told him that it could be for our anniversary dinner (which is next Tuesday). We arrived there about 3:45, so an early meal!
Afterwards, we brought our leftovers home & went to see Jurassic World Dominion.
So I’m thinking swimming laps in DD#2’s salt water pool, in the early evenings, helped me sleep. Plus not drinking sweet tea, like I did with our meal today, enabled me to get rest/sleep while at their home. Right now, it’s 12:50 am and I’m wide awake.
Oh, and while I was starting to eat soft chicken, a back crown came off my tooth!

Good morning! Looks like we are in for a scorcher of a day here today with temps in the 90s and 98% humidity. When Sharon's Mom passed away back in early January, the weather wasn't good for her extended family to make the trip from Northern NY and Canada for the funeral, so this evening we are having a memorial service / wake for her that they are all coming for. I saw a T shirt that I almost bought, but then I decided not to spend the money. It had a picture of a prosthetic leg and it said: "Don't make me take my leg off and beat you with it!". Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good 'almost afternoon'. We had a cool breeze at 6:30 this morning, when I walked out back with Milo. He let me sleep almost 30 extra minutes this morning! It's gonna be another desert-dry day here, with a high around 104. I know it was at least 103 yesterday afternoon, with low humidity so I enjoyed it. I got a kick out of your garage door opening-closing story, Jeanette. Sweetie & I have done that to each other a couple of times. Glad you and your DH and your kiddos & their families each and all arrived at your homes safely from your travels. Got a kick out of the t-shirt you didn't buy, Mel. That's definitely your sense of humor! Have y'all seen the potatoes shrink-wrapped in plastic that are for baking in a microwave? We like them so I picked up a couple when I grocery shopped one day this week. We planned to have salads & baked potatoes for dinner last evening. We hadn't been home long & were starting to put the parts of dinner together. We each walked into the kitchen & all of a sudden Edward asked me where the 2nd potato was? Sure enough, only one shrink-wrapped potato was on the counter. You know who we instantly suspected of taking it! We looked around the inside of the house, & then headed out to the backyard. Milo went along & Edward asked him where he'd hidden the potato? When we walked over to the north side of the backyard, Milo raced to the yuccas at the NE corner and waded into the cluster. He proudly carried out that shrink-wrapped potato. He brought it right to me so I told him he was a good boy! The plastic wrap on the potato didn't have a single tooth mark on it. Edward declared him a "soft-mouthed dog" and said with a little training he'd make a good retriever! Edward washed off the wrapped potato & it baked just fine. We're still laughing about that this morning. Edward wonders if it reminded Milo of a ball-shaped toy he had. That round cloth ball with a squeaker in it was dirty when the gals sent it with him, and after carrying it outside one day, it had muddy dirt on half of it so I threw it out. We've got to get him a toy! For now he's playing with an old towel and an old wash cloth. He likes to sling them around and throw them. He'd like it if Franny would play tug-o'-war, but she's not too interested. Doing housework today, and staying cool. Hope y'all have a great Saturday!
