Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year. I'll be glad to start getting a few more minutes of daylight each day. Me too! And since you mentioned it, let me go on and post what I was going to post in the morning -

It's supposed to reach the high 70s on Christmas Eve, and then be as warm as into the low 80s for Christmas Day. That's almost unbelievable, even for here - as unpredictable as Oklahoma weather can be. Our Christmases are not normally that warm. But I will get outside & enjoy that weather if we have it! I liked the ortho doc today. We started putting together a game plan. I'm going for an MRI, just waiting for it to be scheduled. You took me by surprise saying this, Mel, but it's probably happening here, I just haven't seen it. I haven't been around medical folks much at all. I stay away from the people who want to tell you how you should/must take the jab so I don't have to tell them what I think. This state being as open as it is, there aren't many places a person has to wear a mask, and there's not a lot of social distancing going on any more. I don't need to go many places, so I don't. May be why I haven't seen much ugliness. Our society is going to get even uglier before it comes to an end, I'm sure. Well, Edward found his new favorite steak this evening - skirt steak cooked up in a skillet & served with some garlic butter on top. Other than the time it took to skin off some of the thin pockets of fat, this was super easy & quick to prepare. We're thinking we want to make this as breakfast steaks, maybe once a month. We don't want to freeze the meat - I'll buy it fresh when I can find it and we'll cook it up in a day or two. I'm putting the recipe in our Entrees section after I finish this post. See you all tomorrow!

Good morning! It is 25 degrees here this morning and our high for today is only expected to be around 40. Barb, I'm glad to hear that you Ortho appointment went well yesterday. Things had pretty well settled down around here and life was mostly getting back to normal; but ever since the fear mongering started up again over the Omicron Variant about a month ago people here have been losing their minds all over again. Folks here seem to be about evenly divided between the ones who think that the new variant is the end of the world and we need to lock everything down again or we're all going to die and those who think it is all a big hoax. And both sides are in no mood to tolerate or even be civil toward the other side.

Good morning! We have frost on rooftops and car windshields this morning! This is the first frost we've had. It's a great way to welcome in winter. Right now it's 31 degrees with brilliant sunshine, so this will quickly clear off. I'm going to the office, mid-morning probably, but I don't think I have anything to do. I'll be happy to work at home today, on my own projects. I ordered a couple of cases of dog food from chewy.com last night. They have a couple of Hills Science Diet entrees that I've never seen around here, so I picked one of those; and a case of the dog food these girls like the best - Hills Science Diet Perfect Weight, which is only carried in one store here and has been out of stock all month. Just looked at emails and I have one from chewy that says my order shipped out this morning and will be here on Christmas Eve! What a deal! Around here, people are pretty quiet as to which side of the coin they're on with the latest variant. The crowd I'm friends with are pretty much rolling their eyes and shaking their heads - they're not putting much stock in this being a serious issue. I tend to agree. I read an article where a doctor said this is how we'll finally get to 'herd immunity'; i.e., people who haven't yet had the virus will catch this weak strain, have little to no symptoms, but their bodies will develop the antibodies to fight off future attacks (variants). Heh, I'm okay with that! Y'know, I think allergies are bothering me at the present, but what if it's this weak variant? When the weather clears and my nose does too, I'll never know the difference. How are you and your family doing, Jeanette? I hope you're all well and heading into a great Christmas! Y'all have a great day!

Hi, Jeanette! Good to see you! Glad y'all are doing okay. By the way, the tinnitus in my ears has been greatly reduced, tho' not totally gone, since I started taking the melatonin 1 mg chewables. (I take 1 in the a.m., 1 in the late afternoon, 2 at bedtime.) Many days, I haven't had any tinnitus in my right ear at all. The left ear has been the worst since this started, and it is much better.

Thankfully we arrived home from our trip to Florida, this past Saturday night. Thankfully I did alright with the long drives to & from! Thankful for our visit with my brother, overnights on 12/12 and 12/17. Thankful for the hotel on the beach in St. Augustine, for 12/13 ~ 12/17. I could walk the beach while DH drove to Jacksonville (about 45 mins away) to work. Thankful to hear the waves every time the balcony door was open!

Good to hear! My tinnitus continues & I plan to check this remedy out! Thank you . FYI I’ve been using : Stops Acid Reflux (8 oz) by Caleb Treeze: Old Amish Formula Also for leg cramps … I heard about this product on “Bob & Brad” YouTube Physical Therapists . It’s actually been working, don’t understand how or why … but I drink a cap full and shortly afterwards … gone. Grouphug

I'd love a long weekend in a beach hotel at either Myrtle Beach or Cocoa Beach. It's been years since I've been to either. Cocoa Beach is my favorite. There's a huge grass fire on Ft. Sill. It's probably a controlled burn. Good time to do it, with all the soldiers gone for Christmas break; and it's not a windy day, which makes it even easier to control. The dogs have been out front & out back. I told them to be neighborly if they meet any kitty cats. They gave me quizzical looks. We haven't had a cat since either of them have lived here so that may not be a word they are familiar with.

Thanks! I'll look up the Stops Acid Reflux. Here's the melatonin I'm taking - I pick it up at Wal-Mart; I think Target carries it too.

Pretty busy working at Walmart. Almost over the Christmas season. Getting a Walmart grocery delivery today on my day off (not my store, another is closer but not safe on the bus so I go to the other one to work). Driver will get some candy with a tract and Scripture booklet. I hand out a lot. And a tip of course.
In fact, I would be thrilled if I got some huge bags of individually wrapped candy for Christmas. I don't know what my parents did for Christmas they got their presents but I have not gotten anything in the mail? Maybe they sent it to my (Local) aunt? I don't know. I don't need a present they are happy that is all I care about.
Cats are good. Spotty got in my lap for a while early (orange and white boy). He is a love bug. When it looked like I would lose the house I knew I would have to give him away as he would love anyone anywhere he went. My former feral, and Ron's cat, would not so they would have stayed. Happily God paid off the house so I got to keep all 5.

Hi, Heather! I'll bet you've been swamped with people at Wal-Mart. I went to the central Wal-Mart this afternoon, closest one to our neighborhood. It's 30 years old, and it's been remodeled several times, but it still has a 'well-worn' feel. It was packed today. I'm glad that you still have all 5 cats; I know they mean a lot to you. We had a cat sitting in the sun on our back patio earlier today. I've never seen a cat come into our backyard before. The dogs were in the house asleep so didn't notice. That's why I kidded them later to "be neighborly" if they saw a cat. I don't care if it hangs out, and I wouldn't mind if the dogs made friends with it. I'm just hoping things don't go so far that we walk into the house one afternoon & find the cat asleep on the doggy futon between the dogs. We are heading out to Taco Mayo for Indian tacos for dinner. See y'all later!

Good morning! It is a cold and windy 30 degrees here this morning with a wind chill of 23. I haven't seen any of the squirrels yet today. I guess they don't like this cold wind either. 181 day till Summer.

Good morning! It was 33 at 8 a.m., with a windchill of 27. Just a slight line of frost along the roof edges on the street behind us. I can see 4 of them across the green belt that's between us & them Supposed to reach 62 today, 72 tomorrow and then low 80s through Sunday. The morning meteorologist was predicting we'd be running our AC's over the weekend. We'll see. Hope your squirrels warm up enough to come by for a visit, Mel. Hard to believe they wouldn't. I'm expecting the squirrels around here will be having a ball in the warmer weather over the next few days. There were several running around the neighborhood yesterday. Well - I have to 'eat the big frog first*' and call a Realtor I don't really want to talk to. I'm checking up on my compatriot's deals while she's gone & the particular Realtor I need to call is a snake. The Realtor I'm working with hates that she has a deal working with the snaky Realtor, but you can't tell your buyers, "Oh, now, that Realtor doesn't play well with others so we can't look at any of her listings." (this business can be ruthless, lol) After that, and a couple of emails to check status, the rest of the day is mine. See y'all later. Hope you each and all have a great Wednesday! * I'd bet anybody who's been in the real estate business here over the past 10-20 years has been handed Brian Tracy's book, Eat That Frog!, as a model for how to beat procrastination and deal with people you really don't want to deal with. Your countdown to summer is great, Mel. I'm keeping this in the corner of my desktop so on cold, dark days, I can think about it.
