Thank you, Mel! I had no idea! I'd never even noticed that icon for the camera. The only icon I use in that short row is the smiley face when I can't remember the code for something, or if I'm not sure we have a smiley that's crossed my mind. This is great to know!

Pastor Adam's sermon was definitely different! It was great - and I'm not disapproving, I'm just saying it was a surprise. I knew where he was going when he said the placement of Jenner's hands behind his back was questioned: I knew that was the physical identifier of Jenner as a man, even if all else were re-shaped or hidden by clothing, makeup, a wig, whatever. I loved how Pastor Adam talked about Jesus' hands, really good words. You're right about the communion elements, imo. Communion is such a community service, to me. You can't do it - not well - in singular, individual, "separateness". That strikes me as sad. I hope things get back to 'normal' soon, or Christ comes back to get us.

Good morning! It is a chilly 26 degrees here this morning, but we are forecast to be up into the 60 s by noon. A major part of why most of Pastor Adam's recent sermons have been so focused on transgenderism and LGBTQ+ issues is because so many of the once biblically strong churches in our area have caved in completely to our super liberal PA officials' demands to perform same sex marriges, hire LGBTQ staff, and accept and teach those sorts of perverted things as good. Even in our own denomination, there is opposition to our congregation holding to what was the denominations universal position on these things just a couple of years ago. RE the pre packed communion elements, the half ounce or so of communion wine is not much different than what we usually use, but the wafers are really hard, Seriously, I could see someone cracking a tooth on one of these if they bit down on it the wrong way. Wishing you all a happy and blessed Easter weekend.

Well, I'm praying your particular church sticks to the scriptural view and doesn't cave to the world's desires. I'm sure y'all will be blessed for it. We're having a beautiful morning - in the mid 50s so far, heading to the mid-70s by afternoon. I've been out in the backyard with the dogs and it's about as pretty out there as it can get. I always feel like the world is holding its breath on Holy Saturday - just waiting to see what happens on Sunday. Even tho' Christ rose almost 2 centuries ago, I think I've felt this way on the Saturday before Easter most of my adult life.

My church doesn't really do anything for Holy Saturday other than encourage our people to have a private quiet time of prayer and reflection at home with our families; but I've always liked the late night Saturday Easter Vigil mass at the Catholic church where Sharon's family goes.
They didn't do the Easter Vigil last year because of the Covid restrictions, and this year it is being held with very limited attendance by advanced reservation only.
Officially, the churches here are no longer under Covid restrictions, but the authorities have made it clear that they will come down hard on any churches that are determined to be at the center of any new Covid outbreaks.

I always liked that late Saturday Easter Vigil mass at the Catholic church we attended. My late-MIL & I would go to it together. Nothing has been said at all, so far as I've seen or heard, about the churches being limited on # attending any of the services, since restaurants, bars, gyms, and churches opened up back up a few months ago.

Howdy! Hope y'all are having a blessed Saturday! I know it's getting late - unless you're celebrating with family, you may have already gone to bed. I'd certainly like to be closer to doing that than I am. DS called me early afternoon to let me know there was an open window on the back of the empty house at 12th&C. He said he'd driven by, on his way to get some lunch, & saw it. He said he'd wait on me so I pulled on my work sneakers, grabbed the car key, and headed west. I'm sure it's a past tenant who's breaking and entering, and littering the porch & yard with liquor bottles and meth syringes. I called home to talk to Sweetie who agreed to charge up the drill & pack the tool bag. DS & I went to Home Depot for plywood. That place was packed - this being the first really good weather weekend of spring. We worked probably a couple hours or more after we finally got back to the house & apartments. DS checked everything right away to be sure all the doors and other windows were still secured. DS - long-legged boy that he is - climbed in that open window by simply leaning back and stepping a leg through the open window. He walked through the house and said nothing had changed. Due to the different height of the interior floor, it was a little tougher to climb back out. The doors are boarded shut so in & out the window was the only option. We ended up boarding up 4 windows - the open window & 3 that could become problems. We ID'd the other 3 windows as ones that 'bothered' either him or me. We were proud of ourselves when we were finished. Walking out to the car, DS said, "Y'know I didn't want to do this job. I know you didn't want to do this job. But, if we didn't get over here and get it done, who would do it?" We had a good laugh. He took the last piece of plywood home with him and I took the tools with me. We'll probably each drive by in the next day or two to see if anyone un-did any of our handiwork.

We had a really nice Easter service at church this morning. Pastor Adam spoke on the evidence for the resurrection. Sharon's one sister invited me to have Easter dinner with her family this evening. I'm looking forward to seeing them all, but it feels so strange not having either of my parents to share the holiday with. Easter with my folks was always our special big family meal like what most people do for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Sharon and I would always spend Easter and Christmas Eve with my family and Thanksgiving and Christmas Day with with hers.

Attachment DeletedPastor Jeffress' sermon today was titled, "If Jesus is Still Dead, So What?" He talked about how Christianity is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ - a physical resurrection, not a spiritual resurrection as some have believed in past years, and maybe believe today. Hope you enjoy your dinner with Sharon's sister's family, Mel. I baked up the loaf of bread that was in the bottle DS brought back from Garden of the Gods in Colorado last evening. It's delicious! All I had to do was add 12 oz of beer to the dry ingredients in the bottle, mix, and pour into a greased loaf pan. I used 12 oz of sparkling apple cider instead of beer. - I was pretty sure that would work, and it did. The bread baked up in about an hour. Spring allergies have my head all stuffed up ...

Good morning! It is a pleasant sunny morning here with a good chance of reaching 70 degrees this afternoon. I had a really nice time with Sharon's family last evening. It was the first time that I have seen most of them in person since our 2019 Christmas dinner. I could hardly believe that my youngest great niece (she is 3 now!) had gotten so big. She is almost as tall as her 10 year old sister who has always been a bit small for her age. My sister-in-law who hosted our Easter dinner made what is possibly the best ham that I have ever tasted. I really need to ask her again what brand it was as I forget the name that she said. May went absolutely wild over the bits of that ham that I gave her when I got home. I'm having sandwiches made from some of the leftover ham for my lunch again today.

Good morning! Happy Monday! It's a beautiful sunny morning, already 60 degrees. Predicted to reach the high 70s; we'll see if it gets all the way there. Wow! That little 3-yr old great-niece must have some tall genes from one side of the family or the other. That Miss May is such a character. She does enjoy sharing your food, it sounds like. Our creole food was pretty tasty yesterday. The Creole Green Beans are an especially stunning side dish, and super easy to make. We're having the leftovers of those, and probably hamburgers with fried onions, for dinner late this afternoon. We're having our HOA meeting by zoom tonight. Edward is setting up our new camera so maybe I can be online like most of the rest of the Board, lol.

It is such a nice day out that I decided to mow my yard for the first time this year. It wasn't actually too bad yet, but there were starting to be several noticeable patches that needed trimmed up, so I just cut the whole lawn. I'll probably try to get the grass up at my parents place mowed tomorrow afternoon since the weather is expected to be even nicer then. I'll be really glad when we can get their place sold so that I don't have all that extra yard work to keep up with, but it will seem so strange not going over there anymore. That Miss May is such a character. She does enjoy sharing your food, it sounds like. May got very excited when I got the plate of left over Easter ham out of the refrigerator to make my sandwich for lunch.
She could hardly control her furry little self till I got her share torn off for her.

She could hardly control her furry little self till I got her share torn off for her. These dogs do that to me - they'll come bug me at 4 p.m. wanting dinner, and I won't even be in the kitchen. I usually distract them by offering to go outside with them. If we stay out there a good 10 minutes, they seem to forget that dinner was what they were asking for originally. Y'know, when I sold my parents' house in Ohio, I discovered I was a little more emotionally attached to it than I would have ever believed. Can't really say I grieved, but I felt a little odd, signing the closing documents.
