I stopped at the grocery store today. They already have a lot of Valentine's Day candy and such on display right next to all of the unsold Christmas stuff. I'm probably getting out in the morning to grocery shop. It will be interesting to see what the stores look like. I need to run to a few places because I can't get everything at one place, even tho' I don't need a lot.

That's cute! Poor cat. I guarantee you, these 3 hounds at our house don't want us to go anywhere that involves having to leave home. They have a fit if we leave & they think we've been gone "too long" - which could be 90 minutes some days, or 3 hours other days; or it's definitely anything over 4 hours at most! I went to Aldi and Wal-Mart this morning. Shelves are rather empty & aisles are more open than usual. There's some Valentine candy out, and the greeting card aisle has been updated to be full of Valentine greetings. At Aldi, Christmas wrap & cards were strategically placed so shoppers could not avoid them. I bought a half gallon of egg nog, which was one reason I stopped at Aldi, along with a container of hummus and a pack of turkey tenderloins. I went across the street to Wal-Mart to pick up a half dozen items. We really didn't need much. First time in a long time, I didn't buy a single can of dog food.
Interesting thing - there were so few eggs at Wal-Mart. No jumbo or extra large; and the large eggs were selling quickly. I bought 2-doz large.
I'm about to fix a pot of Goya Black Bean Soup for dinner.

My nose is running, my eyes are watering ... That soup is pleasantly spicy! The good thing about - and the goal of - getting out today & picking up whatever I thought we needed to get through the next week or so, is that now I hope to stay home & complete a couple of projects over the remainder of the week & the weekend. We're supposed to have thunderstorms, rain, freezing rain, and snow over the remainder of the week. We're hoping it will be nice enough to head to Whataburger for breakfast on Thursday morning. We're making Cowboy Caviar to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, later this week. I'm hoping to put a batch of Alabama firecrackers on the table to enjoy with the CC & a French Onion dip we're planning to make. They're spiced up saltines. A cousin in Illinois posted it sometime in the past year. I saved it but haven't made it. I think it's time - I want to tell her I tried it. Later: Of all the crazy things, the Tahoe was egged sometime, somewhere in the past couple of days. Egg was splattered on the driver's side, about halfway back between the driver's door post and the backend of the vehicle. I didn't go anywhere yesterday, but it was parked on the inside of the driveway, so it would have been tough for someone to hit it with an egg, plus there were no broken shell pieces in the driveway. Had to have been hit while it was parked somewhere late last week, and I didn't notice. <-- it sure stood out to my eye this morning. And I hate egg on my vehicle - leave it, and it can ruin the paint job. I stopped on the way home from grocery shopping & ran the Tahoe through an automatic car wash. It cleaned up pretty well. The whole vehicle needed washed so I didn't mind spending the money, even tho' it's kind of crazy to get a car wash right now, with all the rain, ice & snow that's predicted over the next few days.

Boy, do I agree with you on that! That's a good shirt! We're not ones to "hoard" anything, but I will buy a pack of t.p. when I find our favorite brand on the shelf because I'd hate to run out and the shelves be empty. It's wet here - poured down rain overnight. Poor chicken Fran pawed me in the eye last night, in a moment of fear. That hurt! Leela & I slipped into bed in the front bedroom and slept for a couple of hours. Fran will come in there and sleep behind that bed, and I guess she feels pretty safe there. Fortunately, it's a spot she can get into and out of okay. We're going to ask the vet if there's a fast-acting chill pill for chicken dogs that would calm her down early on in weather like this. She has to get her annual shots in January so we'll see. People here are beginning to get the corona vaccine. Especially elderly people we know. I'm seeing an attitude, in general, of being "better than" those who haven't gotten vaccinated. That would make an interesting psych study. Edward closed a deal yesterday for a past client of both of us - it was on a trailer, plain old trailer, this guy bought for investment. That trailer was a long, strange experience. Lol I walked through it yesterday to tell it good-bye and wish it good luck with its new owners. I was on fb messenger with the seller while I was doing that and we were chuckling about all the stories we'll remember from the past couple of years. Here's the trailer ~ Then & Now ~. The inside isn't finished at all. Our client who sold it is deployed. He's determined to buy some more upscale investment property when he gets home from the Middle East.

I've started copying off my favorite recipes from that section of the board ... just in case something ever happens to the internet, lol, I'll still be able to prepare dinner. I have some new ones to try out over the next couple of months. Cleaning up a couple of computers this afternoon. We need to throw out the one I used from the office - I'm hoping to have it all ready this afternoon so we can move it off our home office counter. Hope y'all have a great afternoon, whatever you're doing! This is a couple years old, but it struck me as funny so think I'll still keep it.

I made a pot of Beefy Minestrone soup for Mom and me today. I started out with the Bear Creek brand of Minestrone soup mix prepared according to the instructions on the package, but then I added in a can of Rotel diced tomatoes and chilies, a pound of browned ground beef, and some ground black pepper.
It turned out pretty good in my opinion.

I have downloaded 'almost' everything I want from this old computer (I'm on it right now). It wouldn't connect to the internet the past couple of months. I'm tickled I'm online on it at the moment. Also washed a load of clothes & have it in the dryer, and washed a load of dishes. So no complaints. I'm keeping a copy of those cats w/the big snowball, y'know. I scrolled back up after posting, and started laughing all over again. ~ Later gators! Oh, yeh - so proud of those Okla State University Cowboys who hung on to beat Miami yesterday. We're watching Okla University Sooners and whoever they're playing at 7 this evening. I'm really thrilled that Army has the opportunity to play against West Va tomorrow evening. I'll be cheering for Army. *wink*

Good Morning! Happy New Year's Eve! It's 32, but not expected to get much warmer than that. All kinds of winter weather is predicted to move in as the day goes on. Thankful that God is as much in charge of the world today as He was on the first day of creation! Praying for the needs and concerns of all of us here.

For lunch today, we warmed up some of the left over Minestrone soup from yesterday and added some polish sausage links cut into bite size pieces.

Sounds tasty on a cold day, Mel. It's cold & damp here, trying to start raining. We each had a small turkey quesadilla this afternoon. We'll pick up a pizza later for dinner. West Virginia U vs Army Black Knights, playing in the Liberty Bowl, is about to start. I'll be cheering like crazy for Army! Photo below was taken after Army captured they won the Army-Navy game this season. That game was a riot to watch - the fog was so thick, it was sometimes difficult to follow the game. I'm hoping this will be a fun game to watch!
