Good morning! Happy Saturday! It was 28 when I walked out back with the dogs about 7:15. There was no wind, which is unusual.
Pennsylvania is too cold for me, Mel. My friend & client who colors her jet black hair blue lives in Mechanicsburg. How far is that from you?
Your stove cover sounds very unique, Jeanette. Is it heavy to lift off? I'm thinking how practical that is. We have a microwave over our stove too.

Yeh, that's not far at all, especially in Oklahoma highway driving terms. The sun was just starting to color the sky at the horizon when I was out back with the dogs earlier. When I came back inside, FaithyJ was still outside so I unloaded the dishwasher and thought about getting a cup of coffee because I was cold & didn't want to turn up the heat. Faithy came inside so I closed the doggy door - why let out warm air/let in cold air? I decided to lie back down and read. I started in on Psalm 119, which I love, and I fell back to sleep around verse 100. We're determined to get some construction netting today and close the old pool so FaithyJ will stay out of it. She loves to 'hunt it out', and she goes down the steps fine to do that, but when she's finished, she can't seem to climb back up those steps. It's supposed to be in the mid-60s this afternoon so a good day to get this done.

It was a very nice day. We did some work around the house; sorted some old shoes & tossed them; cleaned up some files on the computers too. Finally headed off to Home Depot and picked up that construction netting. We stopped at Carl's Jr for dinner because it was getting too late to come home & cook anything from scratch. Tomorrow we'll have the leftover corned beef & potatoes, and I want to make a sweet potato casserole from scratch with pecans on top. Edward gave me a fun gift for Christmas - I can't think of anything he'd have picked that would have put a bigger smile on my face. He bought me a plot of land in Scotland. It's 1 sq foot of land, and they also plant a tree in the name of the owner. The point is to preserve the countryside. I received a certificate that includes the numbered plot and its location. The description of this estate location, in the historic county of Wigtownshire in West Scotland, includes this: When and if the world regains enough sanity that people can travel again, we want to go to Scotland.

This cat photo, from the Oklahoma Snapshots group on facebook, struck me as absolutely gorgeous. The photo owner is Brenda Bloodworth. The cat's name is Baby. Good night, y'all! it's getting chilly in the house, and I still have to walk through and check doors, turn out the patio light, and see if Leela & Franny would like a potty break before we go to bed. And then I'm hopefully going to get a good night's sleep. See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning! It is 20 degrees here this morning again, but at least the bitterly cold wind that we had all day yesterday seems to have finally stopped. Yesterday's high never got out of the low 20s, but today is expected to reach 40 by this afternoon.
Yesterday evening I got to talk with Sharon's Mom and sister for a little while. They are doing good. Sharon's sister surprised us with some of her home made Sausage Tortellini Soup. Mom and I are probably going to have that for our lunch today.
Congratulations Mel on your latest great niece! When is baby’s expected arrival? Sometime next Summer I think. They just found out she was pregnant right before Christmas.
I can hardly believe that there is less than a week left in this year already!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning! It's 41 at 7 a.m. with no wind. It's much milder than yesterday morning.
That tortellini soup sounds good, Mel.
I just stepped out front to bring in the newspaper & I heard a rooster crow. That's not something I've heard here before.
Y'all have a great Sunday!

For the last Sunday of the year, our church does not have a typical sermon from the pastor like we do most weeks. Instead, there is a time of testimony from members of the congregation.

It's been a good day - peaceful, quiet, nice weather. Sweetie covered the old pool steps with orange safety netting, like construction crews use. I helped. Right after we finished, FaithyJ nosed all over that netting, looking for a way under, or around, or through ... she even stood beside those closed off steps looking down into the dry pool, as if she was judging her ability to jump down in there. I told Edward he needs to plan the next step in this mess ... can't have our dingbat coonhound break her neck! She isn't the dog who has typically gone down into the old pool anyway. She's anti-swimming. Fran, and Ge'dogg were the champion swimmers; and Houston D. Hound Dog would swim too, just to prove he could do it . Why FaithyJ has been interested in that pool lately is beyond me. We polished off the Christmas dinner leftovers this evening. There was enough of the roast left for each of us to have a sandwich. I put my half of the leftover roast on a tortilla with a slice of Swiss cheese and half of the leftover cranberry sauce. Sweetie made his sandwich with toast and some mayo & relish. He ate his cranberry sauce on the side. We shared the leftover potatoes - mashed them up on our plates and added some butter. It made a pretty tasty meal. I'm tired tonight, and cold. Think I'll lock up the house, and go to bed, lol. See y'all tomorrow, unless we meet in the air tonight. I love you guys!

Good morning! Last Monday of a strange year ... Praying it's a great day with blessings for all of us here. Low 40s outside, but feels like mid-30s so it's chilly. The sun is coming out from behind the clouds and it's really brightening up outside. It had been pretty overcast at sunrise. I've started a little note pad of what I feed these dogs, since I'm not just dumping a cup of food into a dish for them to snack on at will. Meal planning for hounds! I'm heading out to the laundry to feed them breakfast ... FaithyJ, our Diva Dog, just strolled through the house so she'll be ready for breakfast in a few minutes.

I this dog who's cooking! That's too funny. Right now there are a couple of pieces of turkey cutlet in foil on the kitchen counter. It was leftover from early last week and I'm concerned it's a little old to turn into something else. I'm going to tear up those pieces & treat the dogs. I'm pretty sure Leela knows "there's something up there" that "could" be for her & the other 2 gals. Every time I've walked through the house, she jumps up & trots into the kitchen hoping I'm going to notice she's looking up at the counter expectantly. I usually re-purpose leftovers within a day or two so they don't go to waste. With only 2 of us, it's not unusual to have something leftover, even if I cut a recipe to 1/2 or 1/4 of the original # of servings. I think Christmas had me going too fast last week and I didn't catch everything.

I stopped at the grocery store today. They already have a lot of Valentine's Day candy and such on display right next to all of the unsold Christmas stuff.
