Army Black Knights lost to the WVU Mountaineers 21-24. Neither team had much to brag on in the way of offensive moves, and each had a strong defense. It was totally a matter of toughing it out on the ground till time ran out after 4 quarters. We are having a sleet storm this evening. We headed out to pick up the pizza - just over 2 miles from home, and it was about 6:45. We had to wait about 25 minutes after we got there so we sat in the drive-thru with the motor running and the windshield wipers wiping away the freezing rain. Edward said it was a good thing we didn't wait any longer to leave home or the car windows would have probably been completely frozen up. The pizza was pretty good! The sleet has simply come down heavier and heavier as the evening has gone on. Somewhere around here had a windgust at 57 mph. We're having 35-40 mph winds right now. There was some beautiful cloud-to-cloud lightning to the NE of us. I could see it looking out across the Fla. room a half-hour ago. DS & L both worked today, and both have to work tomorrow too. L worked 10 a.m.-7 p.m. today; she & I were texting to be sure she got home okay. DS has to work 6 a.m.-2:30 tomorrow; & L works 10-7 again. I'm praying they each get to work safely. See y'all tomorrow. Oh, I almost forgot! What kind of a sign is this?

That sign cracked me up. Had to share it here. I'm only awake in the wee hours because Leela needed to go outside. It's pouring down snow, which was upsetting to Fran so now she's piled up on the bed beside me wanting me to make it stop, or something. I certainly understand why our newspaper was on the front walk @11:30. Glad I brought it inside before I went to bed! So, I'm going to see if I can go back to sleep now.

Good morning & May we all have a Happy New Year!
May our Abba Father send Jesus to call us up to meet Him in the air anytime during this new year!
May we be encouraged & enabled to stay the course set before us this new year!
May we grow stronger as faithful believers & followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus!
May the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit equip us, as we strive to put on the armor of God daily & obey God rather than man.
Amen

The snow probably stopped a little after 3 a.m. It's a really wet snow. Probably will be all gone by Monday afternoon as it's supposed to warm up through the weekend. Here's a shot of what it looked like outside our front door about 9 a.m. this morning. edited to add: we don't see much white stuff most years, so it's a big deal to get an inch or two of snow. Praying for all of us here today, in all needs & concerns.

I stopped at the grocery store this morning to pick up a few things that Mom needed. The store is once again rationing toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, etc to one package per customer, and the grocery shelves in some aisles were the worst stocked that I have seen them for a while.
Apparently many people are hoarding again in response to the news of the latest round of $600 stimulus checksthat are supposed to be coming out.
On the other hand, I was happy to see that they brought back the limited edition "Most Stuff" Oreo cookies.
But I was good and only bought one pack.

May has no interest in going out in it, but she loves for me to bring a little pile into the house for her to lick.

The dogs aren't too keen on the snow. They'll go out & do their business and come bounding back in the house. FaithyJ used to hate to get her feet wet - snow, rain, morning dew on the grass - she's never liked any of it! I think that's hilarious, considering she's a coonhound. She did well this morning - headed right out back after she had breakfast, tromped around in the snow for a couple of minutes till she found a spot she preferred & then she took a pee. Fran & Leela are wanting this stuff to hurry up & melt & dry up so they can go out and stay a little longer. "Hurry up!" being the key.

Around here, people are worried about what might happen come Jan 6th, with the Electoral College certification.
I'm going to have to go grocery shopping pretty quick - we are all but out of milk. We do have some canned evaporated milk, and a small carton of half-n-half. Been going through more old files on the computer I'm determined to get rid of. Lots of good motivational stuff in those files. Here's one that I guarantee you our dogs would do if they could.

Throughly enjoy all you guys different postings & cartoons!
Good morning. It’s 46 degrees here with dense fog this morning at almost 9 am.
I’m so thankful DH has been off from work, as he gets up early when the two little grands come in. He goes downstairs with them & assists in the mornings.
I am not usually a morning person in any way, shape or form. Although when needed to, I manage to get myself together.

Happy Saturday! Brilliant sunshine with temps in the upper 40s. The snow is fast fleeing. It will take awhile to dry up the ground so I'm hoping we have some gentle winds blow through over the next week. It's been a busy day so far. I slept in this morning till after 8:30 and really enjoyed it! I went out back with the dogs & tromped around, checking out where the snow is melting. And then, I started a load of bedding to wash. That's one of my big goals for today & it's coming right along. Our HOA President called and chatted for over half an hour. He's a great guy - retired military, solid Christian. Some issues have come up in the past few days so we were brainstorming. It was a fun call, even if there are frustrating people & things going on. I read yesterday's newspaper this morning. Soon as I get it back from Sweetie, I'll copy the pastor's corner column & post it here. I found it very motivational. I needed that, here at the start of a lot of unknown events to come throughout this new year. One thing I need to do when I wake up in the mornings is be sure I'm really awake before getting in the shower. We've been drinking bay leaf tea a few evenings a week. There's usually about a cup left over so I've been rinsing my hair with it. It's great stuff! But, I got in the shower this morning and when I picked up the cup and poured about half of it over my head, I realized I'd forgotten to warm it up in the microwave. Oh, my goodness! I felt like I'd poured a cup of ice on top of my head - it was soooo cold! I was gasping, but managed not to shriek. Betcha I don't do that again! Glad your hubby is there for backup with the grands, Jeanette! One thing I realized on Christmas Eve is that I'm seriously out of practice doing noisy things with kids in close quarters. That house seemed so tiny with the tree, all the gifts, wrap & ribbon everywhere, 2 dogs, and the 7 of us talking & laughing, and the kids running around. I'm hoping to spend a lot more time around them all this year. I may get back to being used to the noise level & commotion that way. Okay, gotta check on laundry ...
