Yeh, but they knew He was coming! (I'll let it go at that ) I've felt fairly crummy all day - physically and emotionally. My back hurts, my right leg is bugging me every direction I move. Not sure 'why' I've been so bummed out. I took a nice hot shower this afternoon and that helped some. And then I shut the dogs out of the office and spent an hour in quiet, shopping for clip-on earrings (since the holes in my ears have grown shut ). I found a couple of ear hugging pair on jcpenney's website - one is faux pearl & the other is faux silver. They were inexpensive & I can pick them up at the store in the mall next Friday so I ordered them. Hope they work and I can adapt. Edward made the eggnog pie just a few minutes ago. It's chilling in the fridge now. Later: That eggnog pie is suuuper delicious! The coldfront has arrived. It's cold & windy outside. I think the dog's are sound asleep - this cold and dark night are not their cup o' tea. We're having a nice dinner tomorrow. I'm making the savory pot roast pictured below. Plus mashed potatoes, stovetop stuffing & chilled cranberry sauce, and brown 'n serve dinner rolls. Easy peasy. Pretty much my favorite kind of Christmas dinner. Wishing you each and all the best! I'm looking forward to meeting up in the air one of these nights because Jesus has returned to catch us up to Himself. Tonight would be as good a night as any.

Good morning, Mel! Good morning, Jeanette! It's 41 at present, with a windchill of 33. The sunshine is beautiful. The forecast is calling for the high 40s this afternoon. If the wind calms down, it might be pleasant out there. The dogs 'n I went out in the front courtyard around 6 a.m. and it was pitch dark, colder & the wind was howling. We didn't stay out long. Went back to bed and Nikki curled up tight against my rib cage & under my armpit. She slept like that till just after 7:30. I appreciated the sleep. Edward baked a breakfast pie, which is a large tortilla in a 9" pie pan with eggs mixed with a cup of cottage cheese, and then gently mix in whatever goodies you like added to it. He chopped up orange & red mini sweet peppers, pickled sliced jalapeno (I couldn't find any fresh jalapeno), & green onions. We tore up some dark greens (spinach, red chard, kale, you can use whatever you have) and spread a layer across the top, and then added a layer of shredded cheese. Baked at 375 till the middle doesn't jiggle any more (about 30-40 minutes, depending on how full the pie is loaded up with goodies ), this makes a great breakfast! Edward puts maple syrup on his and I put medium red salsa or Chalula hot sauce with green peppers on mine. The roast for dinner is in the crockpot. I'm guessing we'll have dinner between 4 & 5. We'll see how close I've guessed that. Hope you're all doing well today.

Okay, the storm sirens are apparently programmed so they sounded off at noon today, regardless. Leela, Milo, & Nikki all ran out in the front courtyard. We stood back & watched. Milo loves to howl with that siren - and he was in fine voice today. Nikki acted a little afraid, but when Milo continued to howl & little Leela woofed a little bit (she doesn't howl), Nikki finally threw back her head & cut loose with a howl. She seemed to enjoy that as much as Milo did so she howled a couple more times before the siren ran down & shut off. What a delightful display! We praised all 3 of them as they came running back inside. They went straight out back so I'm guessing their adrenaline is flowing at the moment & they needed to go run off some energy.

I've just been having a quiet day at home today, mostly just watching TV, playing with the computer, and relaxing. I think that I am going to pop a big bowl of popcorn.

Milo is standing up here in front of me, on my home office work table. I'm looking under his neck as he's trying to lick my face. This is a 'free spot', where he can have my attention and Nikki can't join in. I think I need to clean off this table so he can have a spot to lay down! I'm pretty sure he'd fit to the left of my computer monitor. Gonna have to think about that ... I've had Tom 'n Jerry on the tv for background noise and I've been working on putting up clean laundry & dishes. I sit down to look at articles on the computer every so often. I've also been texting with DS, and with my cousin who was the Green Beret for years & had 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam. This is the most we've talked in a few years. It was nice to simply chat.

Hope you've all had a peaceful day. It was pretty quiet around here. The dogs were the entertainment. It's almost 9 p.m. and every living creature here is sleepy. We had a great dinner, and have leftover roast that I'll turn into quesadillas for tomorrow's dinner. It feels like I should be going back to work tomorrow. but the office isn't opening back up till Wednesday, the 27th. I don't know that we had this much time off (5 days) last year anyway. One of the toughest things about having 5-days off, and Christmas coming on a Monday, has been knowing what day of the week any day actually has been. Thursday evening felt like Friday evening. Friday felt like Saturday - except I had the mammogram appt, which further goofed up knowing what day it was (seemed like a Monday morning when I left the house ). Saturday felt like a Sunday and Sunday felt like a Sunday. Today didn't 'feel' like any particular day of the week, and it certainly didn't strike me like it was a Monday. I've got to get up in the morning and make some really strong headway on a couple of projects. I'm hoping not to work tomorrow on anyone's maintenance issues, but I will if I have to. The dogs have been fed, and we've all walked out back - Edward took Franny out and I went with the other 3 a few minutes later. I'm waiting on the 10 o'clock news, but it's late due to the 49'ers football game. I'm looking forward to going to bed tonight. See y'all tomorrow!
