I kind of wish that I had seen this idea before I replaced my back fence last fall:

After looking over my yard this morning, I decided to go ahead and mow it even though the grass wasn't quite as dry as I would have liked it to be for mowing.
This Spring, the actual grass had hardly grown at all because it was so dry (the two times that I did mow earlier this year were just to knock down the weeds); but all of the rain that we have had for the last week or so has really set it off. It was almost knee high in places.
With all of the additional rain that is in our forecast for the next several days, I figured that I had better get it mowed while I had the chance before it got so tall that my little mower couldn't handle it.

Good morning! It's 87 at 10:45 with a heat index of 92. It's an "air you wear" kind of morning. It's partly cloudy but the sun is shining brightly where the clouds are parted. I luv, luv, luv that white picket fence with "cat tops". Our grass needs mowed too. I was hoping to get through this week before I called our mower man, but it has really shot up since the end of last week. Didn't look too bad on Friday but looks awful now. Some group - had to be some organization - put on a beautiful fireworks display that we could see at least the top half of from our backyard, looking over the wood privacy fence to the north. It lasted at least 30 minutes, maybe closer to 45. And there were no breaks in the display. That had to be a pretty high dollar project. We went out back & watched it for awhile. Milo came outside with us but poor lil Leela sat all the way across the den by the laundry room door and would not even come out on the patio to Edward. She had a pout look on her face. He babied her a lot when we came back inside and she loved every second of that. Franny was asleep in the office and stayed there through the whole display. Those dogs are a trip! Hope y'all have a great Monday!

My two favorite meals are pizza and tacos. Today I am having a Taco Pizza from Fox's Pizza Den: It has a regular pizza crust and sauce, and the toppings are taco seasoned ground beef and crushed tortilla chips. Then when it comes out of the oven, they add fresh chopped lettuce, tomatoes, and onions and hot sauce.

That pizza looks delicious! CiCi's Pizza had a Taco pizza in the early days & I really liked it. I miss CiCi's.

Hi, Jeanette! Hope your weekend is going well. Our local weather app says it's dropped to 77 and it's storming - ? That's totally unexpected; don't hear any thunder here & I don't think there's been any rain. I looked at radar and supposedly there's a storm just north of us, and one just south of us. We may have some rain on our side of town on the tail end of those 2 storms moving east. I'm about to feed these dogs & go to the office to collect up my files for small claims court on Wednesday morning.

That snowman looks like he has a great "tan". Maybe some major retailers will have sales around mid-month. I'd like to have a new purse. That's the only thing I can think of that I'd like to have. Of course, around here, back-to-school sales should start up around mid-to-late July. Kids go back to school in August. Sometimes it's early Aug,& sometimes it's during the 3rd week. (too early, imo)

Well, there are drawbacks to posting w/my cell phone. <--> I sometimes have to get back on & 'fix' something I couldn't find a way to do when I was on my phone. We ate dinner at Carl's Jr. We'd planned that. Sweetie slipped his car in @ Walmart for an oil change so I'm dropping him off there. Later: I tracked down a tenant who doesn't drive but wanted to pay her rent so she wouldn't get a late fee. She didn't have a way to get to the office, and it had closed early anyway. I found her, sitting on the curb of a closed martial arts studio, just off a main & busy north-south street in town. I pulled into a left-turn bay so I could scan the area for her. She wasn't hard to find - we started waving at each other. She's a tiny woman and not in great health so this heat & humidity had worn her out, just walking a few blocks. I picked her up, took her to a convenience store with an ATM machine. She got her money, turned it into money orders, and I took her back to her apartment. We got to do some good talking while we were riding too. Good intel - that's always a benefit! I learned that driving DS & his friends around when they were young teens. It's been a pretty peaceful day. My stress level has dropped - I hadn't realized how high it was until I sat down and wrote an email to a friend last evening. It was pretty high. I thanked her for letting me get it off my chest, and I didn't give her much in the way of details. Well, I have clean laundry to hang up; really don't want my office clothes to wrinkle languishing in the dryer. Attachment Deleted Hope you have a great rest of this evening!

Hope you each and all have a wonderful 4th of July! Here at noon it's 92 and feels like 99. We had an awful lot of quiet rain last evening. I didn't know it was raining - the storms were all around us, and every time I looked outside, the pavement and concrete were dry. But, we had puddles out back and more water in the pond at dark last night. There were fireworks last night, besides the thunder & lightning. And the air was so smothering with humidity that everything echoed. Milo was afraid to go out back! I felt sorry for him. He acted like he was really frightened, but still stayed about a foot ahead of me. He was spooking me! He finally refused to go any further than about 1 step onto the patio. Franny & Leela wouldn't even come halfway across the den, let lone step out in the florida room. I'm hoping the fireworks are basically through for this holiday. I don't know of any close displays planned for this evening. We're puttering around the house today, and that's good - I'm sorting closets.

Well, this year was probably the best July 4th we've had since schmovid locked us down. People were out in droves - shopping, camping, fishing, traveling. The roads were full around here, and all of those activities had special programs going on so they were reported on the news. There was one last fireworks display here in town this evening, at the casino that's about a mile and a half from our house. Neighbors a stone's throw from here put up a nice display. I watched part of it. The subdivision to the south of us also had someone putting up a nice display. The dogs really didn't like it, but they basically stayed inside. All 3 are in the office with me right now. I'm about to wake them up to go to bed, lol. Hope everyone has had a great Independence Day!

Good morning! Looks like we are in for a very hot and humid day here. Lots of noise here last night. Someone in the area was evidently celebrating until the wee hours of the morning.
