We are now at 5 degrees with a wind chill of -15 at 6 PM. Local news is reporting a lot of downed power lines in the area due to wind, but so far the power has stayed on here. My Facebook news feed this evening is being swamped by posts of the "Christmas is Pagan and Christians shouldn't celebrate it" sort. I thought that maybe I would actually get through the season without encountering any of those type of people this year, but no such luck. I will celebrate the birth of our Lord, and I don't care who doesn't like it.

I will celebrate the birth of our Lord, and I don't care who doesn't like it. What matters is that 1) you like the idea of celebrating the Lord's birth the way you do it, ~ and ~ 2) you're not getting any guidance from the Father Himself that your celebrations are not to His liking. You have to let other opinions be irrelevant to you. I don't pay any mind tho those who think my view of the holidays that occur throughout the year are wrong, or make no sense. I try to look at things, no matter which holiday you want to bring up, this way: 1) Is this a salvation issue? 2) And of equal importance: Am I leading someone away from the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit with the way I am believing? 3) Can I show scripture to support my view? The answers, in my opinion, to those questions are for discussion between me & the Lord. I share all that^^^to give you some encouragement, I hope, in doing things your way and to help you let go of those who do not share your views.

These dogs have not enjoyed this cold much either. Leela & Milo were piled up on the bed, dozing, while Franny was in the floor snoozing on the heavy blanket that's in front of my closet door. I walked into the room & they were alert enough to raise their heads and nod at me. They wanted me to come to bed with them. I told them I could not come to bed, it was only 5:30 in the evening. I drove the Tahoe home from our mechanic buddy's garage late this afternoon. That Big Blue Dog was sooo cold, the whole vehicle felt stiff and the temperature gauge wouldn't even register. It had warmed up enough the temp gauge had come up to the low side of 160 just before I turned into our driveway. That's when it really hit me what was going on. Replacing the computer board was one of the big things the Tahoe needed. Chris told me he installed a used one, so if it doesn't work right, or if it flatlines, just let him know. It's working pretty well, except for 2 things. There is no visual evidence the turn signals work, but I do hear them & Edward - who was following me - assured me the vehicle's turn signals are working just fine. The other thing is the gear display on the dashboard doesn't show P-R-N-D-L; it only shows an amber light that moves a notch when I shift gears. I wonder if I could put a piece of label-maker tape with P-R-N-D-L1-L2 on it above the amber light? Chris is going out of state for Christmas and will be gone all of next week. I may comment on those 2 items when he comes back. It is really nice to have my ride in the driveway. I patted the hood & told it "Welcome home, Big Dog!" when I parked it. I've gotta go to bed - I really am sleepy tonight; feel kind of worn out. See you tomorrow!

‘Morning Everyone Temp here at 7:20 is 9 degrees “Feels like -4 with the wind”
We picked up a few grands yesterday & the three boys are similar to three puppies in their activities … all over the place! The girl just wanted to play games, which we did with a lot of interruptions to attempt to settle the boys down so that they didn’t get hurt etc. lol
We’ll return them when we gather this evening at DD #2’s home for Christmas Eve.
May you all have a warm & peaceful day.

Good morning! At 10 a.m. it's up to 23, with no wind. I may be outside celebrating the longer day when the thermometer is up to 32. I did go back to sleep this morning. I was in an odd dream that involved "Thor", from the sitcom Ghosts standing in a snowy field, just off a snow-packed road. I remember the road from real life in West Texas in my early Army days. I was standing in the road, looking at a snow-wrapped sign a little in front of Thor. I actually saved a poster of this sign before this storm hit. I can't remember a thing that was going on in the dream, but Thor commanded, "Thaw!!" and I woke up. Yes, I got up right then and put some coffee on to perk. We picked up a few grands yesterday & the three boys are similar to three puppies in their activities … all over the place! Only Although 2 of our dogs are aren't puppies, but this is a great description of all 3 of them when they play together, which they do often during the day. Hope you all have a great day! I'm cooking up a pot of white chicken chili (made with shredded cooked turkey tenderloin), and Edward is going to bake a pumpkin pie.

That "Merry Christmas Eve" poster is beautiful, Mel. I sent it to DS &L because L is so bummed that her ex-h has the kids this year (he's not a likable guy at all ). She's volunteered to work tomorrow because the VA Center is shorthanded anyway. Sweetie just asked me to go on "a scavenger hunt in the pantry" - he could only find one can of evaporated milk & a can of pumpkin. He needed one more can of evaporated milk and a can of sweetened condensed milk. We walked right out to the pantry together, I opened it from the right side & reached right in and picked up each. Have y'all seen or heard the Beach Boys , with John Stamos, perform Mike Love's song, "The Reason for the Season" - ? I saw this on Fox News this a.m. and it really perked me up. I couldn't find that exact broadcast, but here's one from a couple weeks ago when they were on another morning show.

Hanging out with Ezri at the family Christmas party.
It was a lot of fun seeing everyone. We had a nice visit.
For our meal, we did a pot luck buffet. There was lasagna, mini smoked sausages in BBQ sauce, pizza pinwheels, deviled eggs, fried chicken, two different types of quiche, french fries, several varieties of chips and snacks,a number of different cookies and candies. My contribution was a bowtie pasta salad. One of my sister-in-laws made eggnog bread pudding.
Bread pudding is something that I have often heard of, but I've never had it before. It was pretty good.
As always, the highlight of the party was watching the great nieces open their Christmas presents from all of their aunts and uncles.
Our temperature here this evening is 11 with a wind chill of 3.
Our 10 day forecast is saying that by next weekend we should be back up into the 50s for New Years Day.

I have an advent calendar that one of my sisters-in-law gave me where each day gives you a mini figurine or object so that by the end of Advent you have a whole miniature nativity scene

Bread pudding is something that I have often heard of, but I've never had it before. It was pretty good. As always, the highlight of the party was watching the great nieces open their Christmas presents from all of their aunts and uncles. That is the sweetest picture of you and Ezri, Mel! I can imagine your great nieces having a great time opening their presents. My mom didn't cook a lot of dishes, but she made a great bread pudding. I hadn't thought of that in many years. I used to make a pretty good bread pudding too.If I think about it, I'm going to keep my eyes open for the recipe and make it when I find it. The white chicken chili (made with shredded turkey tenderloins), white beans, and some green chilis was delicious! I just made a small batch - basically, just enough to serve 3 so we each had a bowlful & then split that last bowlful. I have to go back in the kitchen and load the dishwasher so I can run it first thing in the morning. I won't run appliances overnight any more, tho' I used to. Too many appliance fires overnight in recent years. The dogs are ready to go to bed - they played outside a lot today, before sunset. Fran absolutely loves cold weather, but not as cold as the last 2 days. Today, however, was right up her alley. Milo is getting used to the cold - he was excited all day, but disappointed because we only went out with him a couple of times each. He doesn't understand that humans don't handle this cold as well as dogs do. I y'all ... and I'll see you in the morning.
