Good morning! It is 35 degrees with a wind chill of 29 here this morning and the temperature is not expected to get much warmer today. We have a mix of snow and rain going on right now that is expected to turn to freezing rain later this morning and then just rain this afternoon. I don't have any place that I need to go today, so I plan to just stay at home and get caught up on some of the house work. This seems like a good day for some warm soup, so I think that I am going to make some chili for my lunch. That squirrel video is something else. That guy put a lot of work into building that maze and producing that video. Looks like he had a lot of fun with it too. Mel, the grands really enjoy the YouTube videos that Mark Rober puts out especially the squirrel maze’s! That video really made me laugh when I first saw it. I think most people would be surprised at just how intelligent and clever squirrels really are. Praying for all needs today. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! It's 55 at present with a possible high of 70 today. It's supposed to be pretty nice all week, then turn bitterly cold by late Friday. We'll see if it goes that way, really too soon to be sure. DS started texting before 8 this morning. He tested positive for the virus at work today. They're tested on Mondays and Thursdays. He's going to CVS for a c-test at noon and is supposed to have his results back in 2 days. Said he didn't feel too good on Saturday but started feeling better last evening. He said "so far it's just felt like a common cold." I told him that's how I'm hearing the omicron variety described. He texted a photo of his kitchen counter with vitamins & supplements on it so I'd see he's got the whole variety. I pointed out he needs vitamin C so the zinc will fully function in his body. His answer: "oh, yeh, I meant to grab some orange juice while I was out getting breakfast, but that honey chicken biscuit had me thinking otherwise." Ah, that man's sense of humor. He said he was leaving immediately to go get some. I told Edward maybe it was better we didn't get together with him & L and the grands last week. Well, we only have one running vehicle till our mechanic buddy can fix the oil leak in the Tahoe. I've got to text & see if I can take it in today. It'll run ok to get to his shop - just need to probably pour 2 qts of oil into it.

Jeanette, I found the whole Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type series of books quite by accident a few years back. We used to eat a lot of chicken, since it is supposed to be healthier than red meat. Sweetie would be flat on the couch, just worn out and not feeling good so much of the time. He thought he might be diabetic; I thought he might have chronic fatigue syndrome. Anyway, I was in a bookstore, browsing, and found the Eat Right book. Blood type B people can't appropriately digest the protein in chicken. And, corn really has a bad effect on them too. Those were the 2 big items. I bought the book & raced home to show it to Edward. We immediately gave up chicken and he was up off the couch in 3 days. It's been real interesting. That ^^^ is why we eat so much turkey. Being a blood type A, I don't eat potatoes very often, or marinara sauce (processed tomato products really mess up my stomach). I don't handle processed foods well, so I read labels like crazy. I told Edward I'll keep a can of sweet potatoes on hand so when he wants some, I can heat them up for him - and I'll just not eat them. It's not an exact science, and many people think the doctor who wrote these books is a quack or total kook. <-- having said that, I'll tell you that it's like everything else: might improve your life, or might not. What I like is experimenting with the info and using what works. I also suffer from seasonal affective disorder so I have a lamp with a daylight equivalent bulb setting here on my desk, which helps me a lot on gloomy, dark winter days. I always comment on beautiful skies, high clouds, the bright sunshine, which Edward never particularly seems to notice. He finally turned to me one day in the car & said it had just dawned on him that the blood type connection goes much further than simply the foods a person eats. He thinks my moods are influenced by my blood type as well. I think he's right! I've paid more attention ever since & I've found a handful of things where I think my preferences are related to my blood type./ okay, I'll stop now - that's my experience with it. Here's the book I started with:

Good evening!
DH & I drove to Crowder’s Mtn & hiked 4 hrs +, counting times to take in the views, water & snack break …
Barb, I was telling him about the “Eat according to Blood Type” while going to the Mtn. I asked him what his blood type was, he told me A+, and all our DD’s were jaundice after birth as their blood type (A+) changed over. Our DS didn’t get jaundice, as his blood type is the same as mine. I said wait, if you’re A+, then what is mine? We both stated O+ at the same time!
lol
I’ll have to check that book out! Thanks, Barb!

You're welcome, Jeanette! I'm A+, Edward is B+, and DS is O+. The 3 of us have had some interesting conversations over the past few years about food, lol. BTW, Type O is the meateater in the group, while Type A is closest to a vegetarian. I worked a couple hours this afternoon, just enough to take care of the Realtor who's in Fla at the present (moved her son there to attend college) and to set up a spreadsheet to load up electric bills for the big complex and get prepared to invoice tenants. I'll probably work most of tomorrow to get that done. Did you get everything done around the house that you'd hoped to do, Mel? I'm looking forward to taking off half of Thursday and all of the 3-day weekend. It's supposed to be bitterly cold this weekend so I'll probably make a blackeyed pea soup to celebrate the new year's start. Oh, and I have an MRI scheduled on my shoulder on Wednesday afternoon. I'm happy about that. Well ... Sweetie graciously cooked hardboiled eggs this evening for breakfast tomorrow since I have to be at the big complex before 10 a.m. I appreciate that! I'll have egg salad on a carb balanced tortilla, maybe with some chopped onion & chopped jalapeno. We'll see. See y'all tomorrow! Hope you have a great rest of your evening.

Did you get everything done around the house that you'd hoped to do, Mel? Yes I did, but now this evening I am feeling very sleepy, but I don't want to turn in too early or I will be awake too soon in the morning. Good night!

Good morning! It's up to 52, and may reach 70 this afternoon. We need some moisture in the ground, for the winter wheat. I haven't heard anyone say how the crops are doing, but we haven't had any measurable rainfall for 65 days, I think. The dogs went outside before 8, but came right back inside and went back to bed. Leela curled up next to me on the den couch while I read the paper and went so sound asleep she was snoring. Praying for all needs and concerns here today. Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

It has been really dark and rainy all afternoon and evening here, and the temperature never got much above 40 today.
For something different for supper, I had a big bowl of spicy sausage gumbo. It was delicious, but I am definitely going to be regretting that tonight.
I've always loved really spicy food, but for the last few years it just doesn't agree with me anymore.
